Battle Frontier - Plaza

DESCRIPTION -
So here it is - the Battle Frontier! Where any battle that could ever take place, will - and you'll be in the thick of it! The Battle Frontier is the name given to the five facilities that operate under different rules, and are headed by different people, the Frontier Brains.
These five facilities are as follows; the Battle Tower; the Battle Factory; the Battle Arcade; the Battle Castle; and the Battle Hall. In order to conquer them all, you must fight your way past other aspiring trainers, using different rules all the time, until you catch the attention of the resident Frontier Brain.
Defeat them, and you earn yourself a silver Frontier Symbol, which are much like gym badges - do this again, and you'll face the same Frontier Brain again, though with a stronger team and more to lose. Defeat them again, and you earn the gold Frontier Symbol - you might even earn a place amongst the Brains themselves!
And what else do you earn? Why, Battle Points, of course, which you can use to purchase exclusive items, exclusive moves, whatever you like, really - and the admiration of hundreds far and wide, for these battles are televised!

LOCATION -
The Battle Frontier is located in north-western Johto.

PEOPLE -
There are two types of people here - the trainers and the fans. The former will challenge you to a battle the moment they see you, and the latter will cheer you on as you face down your opponents. There's no mercy here, so give none - you'll only end up regretting it.

RESOURCES/EVENTS/PLACES OF INTEREST -
Stalls: - The Plaza contains, among other things, three Stalls, where you can trade your hard-earned Battle Points for items your Pokemon will greatly appreciate in battle, for TMs you won't find elsewhere, and pretty much anything else Pokemon related!

The Facilities: - The five shrines to trainer skill, determination and luck, each with their own rules. Don't go in unless you're sure you can take the heat.

MYTH/LORE -
No hot Skitty on Wailord action here, I'm afraid.

"Yeah. You're gonna lose."xxxxx

[Coming in from... the abyss? Iunno. 8D]

It had been too long since Liam has stepped foot inside the Battle Frontier. So long, in fact, that the red-head shivered as he entered the Plaza, the cold breeze passing through the Frontier from Route 40 sending a chill down his spine. Liam fastened his jacket, pushed his rimless glasses to the bridge of his nose, and headed towards the Battle Factory, his head low against the wind.

The Plaza was empty, save those who ran the market stalls in the centre of the complex. Liam gave a short nod to the vendors as he passed them. He didn't stop to chat though, and walked slowly up the steps towards the Factory. The glass of the Factory was a little grubby and the automatic doors squeaked a little when they opened.

'This place could do with a good clean,' he thought, blowing the dust off of the PC before checking on his team and depositing Quake the Magcargo for March the Charizard. March deserved a good stretch after all this time, along with Liam's Eevee, which had yet to be named. The little Eevee climbed up onto Liam's shoulder and rubbed his head against his owner's cheek.

"Let's find you a name and a battle, little guy," he said, tickling the Eevee under the chin, as he walked out of the Factory to find himself a battle. The cleaning could wait until another day.

"Hmph." The Trainer followed the Frontier Brain all the way to the Plaza, she did not gaze at him a second time. Asking for assistance was very troublesome. As they both went past the Access, Noel gazed at the bustling place fill with people. There were different buildings, which was most likely were the Trainer vs. Frontier Brain would take place. ".........Ch. Doesn't look as challenging as I thought. I'll be dammed if I came here for no apparent reason." She shoved both her hands in the pockets and scowled to all the people who gazed in her direction.

"Try not to take this the wrong way, Miss, but I hope you lose a good many matches during your time here. It might yet teach you some humility." Calvin knew very few people he had taken such an instant dislike to - not even Teddy had annoyed him this much, mainly because as much as he had been a prat, he'd at least known when to give it up. Noel seemed incapable of such a thing. With their thoughts aired, Calvin and Templar made their way over to the Battle Castle, the stained glass adorning the front of the Castle glittering in the sunlight.

"... He'll regret those words when I beat him." Noel dug her hands deeper into pockets and sighed. She looked up to the sky- how she wished to see the snow again. How she wished to make a snow angel like in the old days... But she couldn't. The girl had to move forth at all costs. She gazed at the 5 buildings and clenched her teeth. Which to start from.... ".... The-" Her right eye sparkled and outstretched her arm to point at it. "COOL ONE." With that, the girl headed to what seemed to be the Battle Factory.

A low rumbling could be heard just outside of the Frontier Plaza. The people standing idly by didn't notice at first, but soon the rumbling became louder, until the ground they stood on began to shake underneath them. Confused, the people looked around frantically, trying to find the source of the shaking. After a moment, a large silhouette appeared at the entrance to the Plaza, towering over the masses that waited around. Stomping through the gates, a giant Swampert, well over nine feet tall, made his way into the area, making the ground, along with the onlookers, tremble with every step. This Swampert, its face completely expressionless, tromped to the center of the Plaza, then sat down with its hands on the ground in front of it.

The people, confused and in awe, watched as the huge beast just sat there, not doing anything. Whispers traveled through the crowd, wondering where it came from and what it was doing here. They didn't know, however, that this creature once had a master... a master who was now gone. The giant Mud Fish Pokemon had nowhere to go, no one to obey, no place to call home. It was without purpose. Its blank stare was focused on the ground in front of it. One could only imagine what thoughts were burning in this Pokemon's mind. It remained motionless, as if waiting for someone worthy enough to call master to appear.

"Allons-y!"

☜ ❆ ☞

Alistair watched, somewhat wistfully, as the train carrying his two good friends left Johto, the steam it conjured dissipating into nothingness as he left the Castle, gates closing automatically behind him. He had just enough time to wander what he should do next before he noticed a few screaming people run away from the center of the Frontier Plaza. He shared a look with Baskerville, the Arcanine looking rather eager to get going. "Always act like you know what you're doing, and people will assume you do. Let's do what we do best, Bask."
Before long, Alistair and Baskerville were pushing their way through the crowds that had formed around the spectacle in the center of the Plaza, eventually making it to the front. Alistair let out a low whistle as he saw the full size of the Swampert, though he wasn't deterred - after all, it was often those who didn't fit the norm that needed the most help. Indicating to his faithful companion that he should stay back for the moment, so that the Swampert wasn't startled, Alistair approached Savage, kneeling in an attempt to catch his eye.
"Hey there, big fella."

The monstrous beast sat there, motionless and silent as the people panicked and ran about. That is, until a lone man was brave enough to come up and speak to him. Savage's eyes rotated towards the dark-haired man, a low growl escaping from his chest. He stared at the man for a moment or two, before his gaze focused on the ground once again. Savage was completely uninterested in this man, much like most other things at this time. The Swampert exhaled heavily, as if sighing in deep sorrow or regret. Thoughts of past events traversed back and forth through his mind. Watching as his former master disappeared from view, buried alive in the cave in at Mount Silver. Having to transport the corpse of his master's dead love back to Celadon. Watching as the rest of his team went about their separate ways. What could Savage do now? Everything he had done, what he had endured for his master... it meant nothing now.

He glanced back over at the man next to him, still there, seemingly waiting for a response. Savage growled again, louder, his lips curling upward. The Mud Fish wanted nothing to do with anyone or anything. He wanted his master to come back, nothing more. His mind may had been warped, but his thoughts remained stable. He wasn't stupid like most people would think just by looking at him. He knew, deep down, that no matter how much he wished it to be so, his master was never coming back. Yet despite this, he could feel a familiar presence here.

Look above the Plaza and there are likely to be many things in the sky--trainers, wild bird Pokémon, clouds... But one of these things was not like the others; one of these things was a Frontier Brain. The Hall Matron, to be exact. "What is going on down there?" The young woman spoke to the Togekiss that was giving her a ride, not expecting much of an answer. After all, how should Jupiter know what was happening? "Go ahead and land, Jupiter. Then I'm going to need you to go back into your ball."

"Toge!" The Happiness Pokémon agreed, and went down to land near the Pokémon and who she assumed to be its trainer. Popping back into its Cherish Ball, the woman spoke gently as she adjusted her hair -- it looked rather crazy after flying around. Darn that wind! "Everything alright here?" Things didn't look like they were, but it's always nice to ask. Better to make sure someone actually WANTED help rather than pushing it at them, right?

At that moment, a red light appeared, revealing a large bipedal water Pokémon. This was her Feraligatr, Antony. "So sorry; my name is Bellona. I am the Hall Matron. This is Antony, my Feraligatr. He is going to stay back with the Arcanine, aren't you?" Antony nodded, backing up and standing next to the Legendary Pokémon.

"Anything I can do to help you?"

"Allons-y!"

☜ ❆ ☞

Alistair wasn't sure how to react to the Swampert's small, but significant reactions - if he had to guess, the Pokemon had been abandoned, or maybe its trainer had died? That would explain why it was here alone, and why it seemed so morose. It would also explain the anger that lay behind the growl - after all, what were the five stages of grief? "Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance. You want to lash out. You want to hurt others as you're hurting. Trust me, I know how it feels. Truly, I do." The Silph Co. building flashed in his mind, the steely gritting of his jaw the only visible reaction even as Bellona approached. He was glad to have back-up, though he just had to hope she appreciated the situation - underestimating Savage would only lead to bad things. "Alistair Mycroft Lethbridge-Shaw. I'm here to help." He shared a look with Bellona, letting her know that he was addressing both of them - he just had to hope both understood him.

Another human had joined the first. What did they want? Savage didn't want help, especially from these... strangers. The male talks too much, speaking as if he knew what it was like to lose someone dear. The beast didn't like the way this man talks. It only angered him. Savage's eye twitched, sending pulses through his entire body.

He did want to lash out.

He wanted others to hurt.

His mind was racing. Violent thoughts soon began to take over. A pool of murky water formed in his mouth, soon spilling out as he growled again.

These humans knew nothing.

Why are they even here?

His growls became more prevalent, more threatening. His muscles tensed and bulged in his thick arms. These humans knew nothing. Why are they even here? They are only causing more confusion and grief. If they were smart, they would be running like the others....

He did want to lash out... his anger rising.

He wanted others to hurt... to feel his pain.

Despite the urges, though, Savage remained seated, staring deeply into the ground. His eyes burned with fury. Anger. Hatred. Despair. Things that this creature was very much familiar with. These humans... if they really wanted to help, they would bring his master back. If they were smart... they would run...

The Swampert was growling. Menacing. Obviously angry. Murky water pouring out of his mouth, and eye twitching. Something was very wrong with the cobalt Mud Fish Pokémon. They weren't usually like this unless they were being threatened, or protecting their territory or family. They couldn't be in his territory -- this was the plaza. And he wasn't being threatened; at least not by herself or Alistair. She trusted the man, something in the look he gave her told her that he WAS actually trying to help.

Antony was beginning to get angry himself. What was Bellona doing to upset the Swampert? Nothing. Nothing at all. So why was he being so aggressive? The Feraligatr wanted nothing more than to step forward and take action towards his fellow Water-Type. But he was a very patient, loyal, obedient Pokémon. Usually happy, but what was he expected to do? Bellona could be in danger! Everyone here was lucky Cleo wasn't popping out of her Heavy Ball...bad things would happen. "Gatr...Ferali, Feraligatr.."

"It's alright, there, Swampert. We want to help... Don't worry, we won't hurt you. Let us help you!" She held out a hand towards the creature, not putting it TOO close. Bellona had a feeling that if she got too close, it wouldn't hesitate to bite. She put it palm up, to try show that she meant no harm.

At this action, Antony became very aware of what was going on. That Swampert could bite Bellona's whole arm off! He stepped just close enough to where he could pull her out of his reach if something did "almost" happen to her. He could reach her shoulders, and was definitely going to be able to beat the living daylight out of that Swampert. At least, he thought he would.

Bellona turned to Alistair. "So...got any ideas?"

Alistair immediately stopped Bellone from reaching her hand out, giving her a look that simultaneously apologized and scolded her - sometimes the gentle touch, the tactile, was the solution, but not when the situation sat on a knife edge. The DI could practically feel the anger radiating from the Swampert, as tangible as body heat, and he knew that things were very likely going to go very wrong very quickly. Still, he had to try. Everyone needed someone to reach out, even if they didn't reach back. " You know . . . when you're a kid, they tell you it's all 'grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that's it.' But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It's so much darker. And so much madder. And so much better."
Baskerville sucked in a breath, ready to react at a moment's notice with a SolarBeam that had been charging for a good few minutes now, as Alistair tried to catch Savage's eyes once again. "We can help, if you'll let us. Whatever's happened to you . . . I lost my brother recently. He was blown to pieces. To know that there weren't even parts left to bury . . . I know, how you're feeling. Please. Let me help. The world is so much better than it seems right now."

The woman reached out. She is brave, but stupid. She could easily be broken, snapped like a twig. The man stopped her, pulling her back. He talks too much. I see the anger in the eyes of their partners. They wish harm upon me. Why would they? I have done nothing to them.

This man talks too much.

Shut up...
Shut up...

SHUT UP!!!

How can you know what pain is? Your brother? LIES! You... you're trying to trick me! To calm me down, and then you'll attack me! I won't fall for it!
Take your woman and your slaves, and run away!

But wait... what is this?
A voice?

I hear a voice... calling to me.

For the first time, I feel calm. My breathing is slowed, patient. I can hear it... it's so familiar. What is it saying?

"sa..g... .il. th.."

It's too far off. I can barely make out the words. This voice.... it sounds like... Master? Is that you? Please, come closer... tell me, what should I do?

"Savage..."

I hear you! Master! It really is you! What is it you ask of me?

"Savage... kill them."

"Kill them."

"KILL THEM!"

The beast suddenly arose to his feet, as if he were an automaton guided by an unseen force. His eyes narrowed, his pupils all but vanished. He growled again, more murky water pouring out. He towered above the humans and their Pokemon. Knuckles pressed against the ground, Savage looked down at the ones that had bothered him, and unleashed a guttural roar that seemed it would shake the very core of the world.

If they were smart... they would run.

The moment Savage stood up, Alistair knew the Swampert was beyond reasoning - he grabbed Bellona, pulling her back, but held off giving the signal to Baskerville until he was sure. So sue him, he was a second chances kind of a man. And yet, when Savage let out that roar, a sum of all his rage and hate . . . if his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon them. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
He brought his hand down, and with a terrific flash, Baskerville let the supercharged SolarBeam fly out of his jaws, the energy smashing into Savage in an impact that was going to hurt even this behemoth of a Swampert. Alistair released the rest of his team, Ronin, Prongs, Auric, Horatio and Henry all falling into formation to protect the two trainers, readying themselves for what was likely going to be a tough fight.
"Take down. Non-lethal."
