Did anyone hear about this Dragon Ball Z Kai? It's coming on Nicklodean instead of Cartoon Network at 8pm on Monday. Apparently, this is supposed to the remastered, re-editted, re-dubbed, re-everything--even more truer to the manga storyline so Garlic Jr. Saga isn't going to be in there. There's also going to be some subtle differences in the details such as Scouter Vegeta's odd colored armor being blue and white instead and then there'll be a different ending theme and song.

I remember I saw Dragonball Z Kai the first season on a DVD--and I was so depressed because I wanted to buy even though I already have the entire Dragonball Z Saga on DVD box sets. Geez, how much remastering is DBZ going to get?

Anyways, my question is, are you guys going to watch it? I probably am just because I'm a fan and I can sit around and point out the subtle differences.

It's also cut and edited to be more manga-accurate, you know.

I am disappointed. If they were trying to make it more true to the manga, I'll just read the manga.

What's wrong with having the manga in full, vibrant, and high-definition color with voices, movement, and surround sound?

Well...it was good while it lasted. But if I may be honest...I miss a lot of the old filler. My sisters are missing out on a lot. I mean I like Kai and all, but I think you can only appreciate it if you've seen the original.

Say what you will, but Kai pronounces Kaioken correctly and did "It's over 8000" correctly.

I'm not saying it's not right, I'm just saying there's zero room left for nostalgia.

Well, I think 20 years from now, I won't want to watch DBZ because it was made more accurate, but because of my good memories of it I'll show it to my children and watch it myself. So to answer your question, no, accuracy isn't more important to me than nostalgia.

I am disappointed that its only redone, and not anything new, but I think its good to see a more original version. I hope it keeps the original names, like Tien was Tenshinhan, Korin was Karin, King Kai was Kaio-sama, Chiaotzu was Chaozu, etc. I was hoping for a whole new Dragonball, but this is cool too. But if the anime would be any worse than the original anime, I'd rather read the manga.

I know! I hate how they made it 9000 for the anime. When it was "Vegeta, what did you say was his power level again" then Vegta says "It's over 8000, and increasing!" Nappa - "Thats impossible, the scouter must be broken!" The anime messed it up, and yet almost nobody knows the differences between the anime and the manga.

Unfortunately, FUNimation kept their beyond retarded dub names for the characters.
