It had seemed like such a long day to Dahlia. Looking around at the darkened setting, a certain glow seemed to emanate from all that touched the remnants of the sun. She had drifted through the trees since the day had started it’s descent into night. Tending to stay near the droopier trees, like willows, Dahlia loved the feeling of the leaves running lightly against her sleek skin.
Her purple eyes gently glistened as a spot of sun hit them. They were wide and curious, looking around her in the silent wood for signs of anything else. While she loved the silent sounds of the forest, she was never one to deny company, no matter how reluctant she may seem. After talking to another herla, she had really started to feel the sting of being out-of-touch with everyone else; the world seemed to have grown exponentially around her. Dahlia hadn’t even seen any new generations of herla, but somehow, they were all around. Still young herself, she had the secret desire to meet other young herla, but would never admit it, even to her own guardian.

Lucero yawned lightly as he looked up toward the fading sun. Soon, the darkness would be completely upon him, but the young buck had no intentions of sleeping yet. He wandered through the trees, ears flicking back and forth as the forest rang with the sounds of its creatures settling down to sleep. The deer smiled to himself and stopped to take a bite of new spring leaves off a young sapling. The night air was so fresh and cool and Lucero was at peace. But as a leaf crunched nearby, Lucero's ears once more twisted and this time, he was started to catch sight of a lovely red doe. Had she noticed him?

Green fetlocks dragging through the grass, Dahlia stopped for a moment, hearing a light sound coming from nearby. The sun now slightly blinding her, she ducked into a deeper, darker part of the forest, trying to catch sight of what she had heard. As she stumbled over, she blinked, raising her head up to help her eyes adjust to the darker light. Her eyes were wide again, and the spots in her eyes slowly started to fade.
Looking ahead, it didn’t take any time at all for Dahlia to see the gray figure of another herla just a few yards away. She was staring at it quite intently now, but looked away hurriedly when she realized that he had seen her. “Ah…” Barely making a sound, she delicately moved her hooves, starting to walk forward slowly. She wasn’t very good at approaching others, and it really showed, but she tried to maintain her poise and appearance, no matter how awkward it could get.

The buck smiled as the other herla began to approach. He waited until she was close then bowed his head in greeting before smiling as he raised it again. "Good evening, miss." Lucero said softly, swinging his tail gently from side to side. "It's a nice night, isn't it?" He didn't often speak to other since he had grown and everyone had split into their own little groups, but that wasn't to say that he didn't enjoy it. "My name's Lucero. May I know your's, miss?"

Getting a better look at him, Dahlia was a bit taken aback by how striking the male was. It made her feel a bit self conscious, but only a bit. She hadn’t met someone so…attractive in quite some time. While she got along with the other herla she had met not long ago, she was fairly odd looking, and quite demonic.
“Dahlia.” Letting the sounds roll off her tongue gently, she didn’t see the need in any other words other than her name. “And yes, it is.” Turning her head to the side, she looked out at the scenery, the cool air smelling oh so sweetly this evening.

Lucero took a light breath before letting it out in a soft sigh. "It's not often the evening is this perfect." He stated, raising his head up, but watching Dahlia out of the corner of his eye. "And it's not often that I get to meet such a lovely lady." The buck smiled again, unsure of what to say. He blushed ever so lightly, losing the calm and wise appearance that he had been going for. "Do you come out here often?"

Flicking her eyes over towards Lucero after his comment, Dahlia let a small smile rise on her face. “Such a gentleman.” Swishing her tail through the grass, she wrapped it around her back leg. She felt quite calm, but there was a slight fluttering feeling that was rising in the pit of her stomach. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but she liked the feeling, especially since the reason for it was standing right in front of her.
“I just kind of go where the trees take me.” As odd as it sounded, Dahlia followed the branches of the trees, often closing her eyes and navigating the forest using her sensitive skin as it rubs against the leaves. “But I kind of like this place.” Looking up towards the tops of the trees, she leaned lightly against the side of a tree dramatically, glancing back towards Lucero with a sly smile on her face.

"Where the trees take you?" Lucero tilted his head, smiling, "That's an interesting way to travel the forest." He glanced upward to the trees, peering at the brances. "I kind of just wander about but I like this place too." He turned his eyes back toward Dahlia. "But it may be the company." The buck chuckled, flicking his braid over his side.

“That makes two of us.” Staring at him with her deep purple eyes, Dahlia wanted to just kidnap Lucero away, he was too adorable. She was entranced by his movements, and even the flicking of his braid was something that just captured her full attention.
“Well, what happens now?” Leaning her head down to the ground to smell a flower, she flicked her eyes up at him, not really knowing where conversations went after both parties have been introduced. She didn’t want him to leave, but she had no idea what else to say to the handsome buck.

Lucero let out a soft laugh. "Now? Hmm... That's a very good question." He smiled, taking in the sight of her face so that he wouldn't forget it. "I don't really know. I... I don't seem to have much luck beyond introductions." He stepped closer, his smile growing.

"No luck?" Luck with what, she wondered. Maybe he actually was just like her, as far as conversations went. If that was the case, then there really was little hope for a true conversation between them.
"I would think that a buck like you always have others wanting to talk to him." Leaning over to gently press her nose against the flower, Dahlia flicked her purple eyes up at him. She liked how he acted, but for once, she felt too embarrassed to look at him straight on. If her pelt wasn't red, her face sure would be.

The young hart chuckled softly. "I wish that were true. However, I'm usually on my own." He smiled down at Dahlia, amused that she refused to look at him now. "I... I am poor at conversations, unfortunatly. Which is saddening since I would love to have a wonderful and long conversation with you." He hesitated before he reached forward and lightly nudged the female's shoulder. "I think that you and I could be great friends. I just... I am having trouble coming up with something interesting to engage you in coversation with." He was an honest hart, even if he wasn't a great conversationalist.

"What a pity." Trying to hide a small smile, Dahlia kept her face towards the ground. "Well, I guess you're in luck, because I'm quite horrid with conversations as well." Giggling a little, she slid her eyes over to look at his hooves- they were such a pretty color.
Feeling the nudge, Dahlia couldn't help but bring her head up to look at him. She stared at him, with an almost bewildered expression, until turning her head away for a moment. "It seems..." Scraping her hoof against the ground lightly, she moved her head back towards him, looking at the ground until she finished her statement. "...that you have already engaged me." She flicked her eyes back up at him, quite eager to see what he would do. For her, conversations were just words; it was actions that meant the world to her.

"Oh? Have I now?" His smile widened. "I'm glad." It was rare that he was able to join in conversation with a lady such as Dahlia. It seemed that neither of them felt that talking was necessary. "Shall we walk perhaps?" This conversation didn't need to be carried on in words. He was enjoying her very presence. "Maybe we can get to know each other a bit better as we travel the forest."
