I found the book to be quite an enjoyable read, it wasn't hard going like some other books I've come across. Broken down into easy to digest parts so to speak, a good book for people starting out down the path of heathenry.

The chapter dealing with the Gods and Goddesses was quite informative and in depth, and seems to form the bulk of the book. I do think however the chapter dealing with the heathen festivals was a little bit rushed and not as informative as it could have been. Though on the plus side the chapters dealing with Symbel, Faining and Blót were well written and informative.

All in all I would recommend it as a read for those starting out in heathenry and for those who are just curious about the basics of the path.

Yea I suck at doing book reviews.

I found it quite to the contrary. In addition to what I felt was a shallow explanation of the gods, I found the chapter on ethics to have a very poor grasp of the historical attitudes of Norse Pagans, and I felt like it was a set up to advance the personal abuses that the author has carried out in their real life.

There is nothing in any of the lore to support the Nine Noble Virtues as a framework for Norse Ethics, especially since many of them are heavily influenced by Protestant morality. I feel this is either an intentional deception giving the preface about Christian moral systems, or a very poorly researched book. Under either of which conditions I could not recommend it.

Lastly, I have concerns about anyone who inject a cattle syringe's worth of salt water into someone's chest.

"THE ALL IS MIND; The Universe is Mental."--The Kybalion.

I have the book and also found it a little lacking. That said it is better than other books out there on basic Heathanry. If anything I would suggest:

Essential Asatru: Walking the Path of Norse Paganism by: Diana L. Paxson
