Okay first off I'd like to state I'm a bit rusty, as I've been away from chess for a good year. I didn't realize how sloppy my skills have gotten until recently.
I'm online for 12+ hours a day and until August, my schedule is pretty open. The chess tutoring games will be held on http://www.chess.com You will have to join, obviously, to have a tutoring session. I have heard of a chess game on Yahoo, but I don't know much about it. If I knew more, I could also hold tutoring lessons there.
I do know the general rules of chess. I've also known how to play for 11 years, and been playing for a good part of that time.
I can teach you the basics, I can teach you what pieces move where, and how to take any piece. I can also teach you how to win, though you actually winning is up to you, so don't come complaining to me if you play a game and lose.
I'm patient for the most part, but if you refuse to listen, then I refuse to teach. When you show me that you can listen, then I'll teach you.
I can be blunt at times, and I am always honest. Be aware of both now. If your skills are below average, I will not baby you; I will tell you that they are below average. I will give praise when it's due.
Simply my rules are as such;
1.) If I am tutoring you, then you must, above all, listen to what I am telling you. You may pose questions if you wish but DO NOT ignore me, because that will cause me to tutor you less, if at all.
2.) Don't interrupt me when I'm speaking. It outright pisses me off.
3.) I'm patient and respectful, I expect the same from you.
My tutoring sessions may differ from those of everyone else.
First off, I expect you to schedule a session(you may schedule a session via PM) 5 times with me (you can do them back-to-back if you wish). Each session is 20 minutes, and yes, they will be timed. I'll be starting with the basics. After that, we will play an actual game to see if you are learning and paying attention to what I am saying.
If you show me that you've retained at least 70% of what I teach you, then we'll move on to step two. It'll involve more advanced strategy and lessons as well. It will involve a smaller amount of sessions, 3, before an actual game. After the actual game, if I determine that you've actually learned enough, and retained it, you may go as you please, and schedule another session anytime you wish.
If I seem to strict or demanding, I'm really not. I simply want to teach you what you want to learn, and what you need to learn, about chess.
