Potassium. Bones, joints, and ligaments can all benefit from a wealth of it, which can be found in bananas.

Also, since you seem to have studied some of the internal martial arts, qigong with a focus on the joint meridians, and careful, gentle stretching for the associated ligaments.

I would say try Qigong as quiet_way stated...Or Tai Chi or Chin na...Chin na is a martial art that can be a gentle stretch or a martial art so if you do try Chin na take the stretches easy...Dr. Yang (He's a master that has studied martial arts for over 50 years I think and he taught my Sensei), says that Chin na helps arthritist as long as you use it for stretching...

You should elevate the part of your body that is flaring up and ice it if you can. Or apply some cool ointment gels help a lot as well.

Eliminate Dairy from your diet. Studies have shown that consuming dairy products is one of the main culprits to arthritic flare-ups. Replace your milk with water, and lots of it.
Meat is another diet culprit. Minimize your meat portions to 3/4 the size of the palm of your hand per meal, and try to eat the leaner cuts and types of meat. This means less beef and pork, and more chicken and pink/red fish (like salmon. White meat fish like Halibut and Cod are fattier and will not help your arthritis) Increase your vegetable portion to at least half your plate. Anything carbs should be minimized as well like potatoes, pasta, breads, and white rice to the same portion size as your meat.

Popping your joints (or cracking as many call it) on your own is very dangerous and could make the arthritis act up even more. If the suffering person must crack the joints, I recommend consulting a Chiropractor.
