Hey! I was just wondering....in my band, we're each assigned an instrument part; flute 1 or flute 2. (kay and I know this applies to more than flutes, but I think it's bigger with us since we sit in fron?) But unlike most bands, we really don't make a big deal about it. The band director just chooses who's the best and orders you from there. Like, no chair tests is what I'm saying! Lol, but I'm playing flute 1, second chair, but a lot of the times if it's double parts on the sheet music, I'll check who's playing what and if people switch because of easier notes and whatnot, I'll play second! But some people have problems with that. Not my band director, but some of the kids I know are like "why do you play the lower part? It's demeaning." And I don't get that. I also LOVE low notes. They're better than the high and personally, I don't think it matters how pretty you sound playing high A's, if you can't get down to a C, you're not a good flute player. But yeah. Your thought? Random, I know.
