After all, how much do sealed envelopes cost? I know there isn't time to save & buy an envelope, and set up a contest all in the next 2 days for May, but perhaps we could try to get that up and running for next month? I'd be glad to donate, or in fact help any way I can.
(P.S. - I didn't totally understand all of it, but from the looks of the old threads the star system Fay used was stellar ^^)

Sealed letters about a year ago were 20-30k, however now every month, sealed letters are around 40-70k mattering on the month and the hint via email & twitter.

Like I said before, I think it's a wonderful idea and I'll donate what I can if you need help. The whole star system (as well as the monthly Sealed Letter giveaway) were really what makes this guild so unique.

I think people did enjoy the star system, but it was quite difficult to maintain.
I'll have a think about it and if I can find a way to recreate the system in a way that's tons easier to keep running then we can consider bringing it back.
Perhaps instead of a monthly contest we could open a star shop, where members can spend their stars on prizes - ranging from smaller commons monthly collectibles.
That however, will require funds I don't have. xD

A star shop could be a kewl idea, but because of how much funding it would take perhaps it could be limited a little. Still with the objective in mind of prizes being awarded for being active in the guild (and other various charities and whatnot that are advertised & supported by the guild), let's take a look at that.
Just an idea: Each month the starshop would contain a different, say, aquarium mini-monster (or another good but not too too expensive aquarium item), that equivalent in house or zOMG item (may or may not be possible--I don't really play zOMG so I don't know), and a relatively cheap MC.
I think that covers most of gaia's popular activities. The star shop could be open, for, say, the last week of each month, and it would take more stars to buy the more expensive items. If we can work this scenario (in some version of proportions) to the point that we had enough funds for, I think it would be both fun and fair.
For holidays I imagine there will be several events going on already, as well as more special ways to earn stars and nifty raffles, games, contests, etc. I don't think there's any questions or problems there.

I think it would be great to have a "Introduce yourself thread" in here that way we don't get so many of the same repeated threads of people posting to say they are new.. I know I did that and I shouldn't have.. but if there is a single place for all that to happen it should keep the new thread count of things to delete down some if you plan on inviting a lot of people..

I had to make sure every single thread that gave away star points was up to date, create and run every contest, update the star list every time someone won stars, make sure the mods were giving the right amount of stars away and answer a gazillion questions from members who weren't sure what stars were for. D=
I don't mind doing this when I have time, but I'm nearing my exams and I just can't manage all that.
You have a good idea, but I'm not sure that the shop would work if it's only open one week per month, with only 3 items in. What if there are more than 3 members wanting to make a purchase?
Although, it might be an idea to have the shop only open at certain times, like maybe it will open for different holidays, like you said & the items will change depending on the holiday, like Halloween, Christmas or Easter items. ~
The biggest problem is getting gold to buy the items, I currently have only 20k.
Also, I'd have to work out how many points each item will cost depending on how much gold it costs compared to the other items in the shop.

For all aspects of gaia life XD Also that's a way to spread it out. The big items would cost a lot of stars, and smaller items wouldn't be as much. It's not the best, but just to start, this makes sure there's something for everyone (and there's enough gold for the idea!) and I like the holiday part ^^
Like I said, this can totally wait. I'm only in high school, but I was out with mono for 6 weeks and came back practically just in time for exams, so I know how you feel sweatdrop Exams suck, but good luck with yours Fay! ^^
