Rook the Homunculus seeks eight elemental artifacts in the form of small, stone tablets once created by its master. These artifacts have had many years to build up great amounts of mana and have been having an extreme effect on the environments they've been kept in. All adventurers should keep in mind that their deaths are very possible and that their safety cannot be guaranteed even by their own skills. The following is a list of the Eight Tablets and where they are believed to be (Details will improve as things are worked out and more stories are invented). There is no particular order in which these zones will be visited:
Earth Tablet: Located north of Veridian near a small village. Seemingly it has simply been dropped there and has little promise of loot to be had except for Rook's Tablet. The beasts there have been augmented with earth powers including stone skin and some creatures normally incapable of digging now able to lie in wait inside burrows and launch a surprise attack against their enemies. Some feral humanoids have taken up the grounds as a holy site for various Earth gods. These zealots will fight to the death to defend the relic. The most powerful monsters are a stone-skinned grizzly bear that is twice its normal size and an enormous mole that has developed control over earth after accidentally swallowing the Earth Tablet.
Water Tablet: Believed to be somewhere in Draynor Bay or possibly even further out than that. Rumors of monstrous fish and increasingly mutated sea monsters creates the likely situation that the Tablet is lost at sea which will limit the people that can seek out the Tablet to those who are amphibious or simply do not breathe. The tablet's defenders are yet unknown except for the rumored monsters.
Fire Tablet: A temple residing within a deep valley to the southwest of Veridian. A valley that was created originally as a great fissure in the earth by the Fire Tablet's last master. This temple has been built in absolute reverence of fire and has had the aid of the prior master's underlings in creating a great danger for this temple's defenses. Along with zealous humanoids living alongside the various elementals and fire-based monsters a red dragon was bribed to come live in the temple with a great hoard of various treasures. It draws on the Tablet's power for greater strength and will sometimes use the Tablet to rapidly mutate certain monsters if it feels a need to. The dragon has been able to embed the Tablet in its tail making it more difficult for one to locate the Fire Tablet without knowing where it is or being able to sense it.
Ice Tablet: In a mountain cavern once home to a large dwarven/human colony the Ice Tablet has found its home. The community has since been destroyed and most of what is left has been utterly frozen over. Some of the dead have been revived by the Tablet's power and are at times mistaken for badly frozen adventurers which gives them an advantage of surprise for creatures that cannot sense or smell the death. A number of spirits have been effected by the ice power also, many of which are simply chilling specters that phase through the walls and are able to make weak ice attacks against the targets. Annoying at first, it has the potential to become deadly if experienced for too long or too many attack at once. The Guardian is a great Ice Golem born by the Ice Tablet's own powers. A yeti precedes the Golem's chamber. It is strong and fairly agile, especially after a few hours being half-frozen by the specters and merely being in the cavern.
Lightning Tablet: Little is known of the Lightning Tablet at this time. Some stories floating is that it may be a mobile area that contains the Tablet. Some that have seen what is theorized to be a storm augmented by the Tablet believe there is a kingdom in the sky that contains it. Some also believe that the God of Thunder wields the tablet for even greater elemental power.
Poison Tablet: The Tablet of Poison is believed to be lost somewhere within the marshy Draynor Forest. While many animals tend to die upon entering the Tablet's range, what has been living there has mutated mostly into subtle monstrosities that bear poison and acids in various parts of their bodies. Plants are almost as sentient as in the Earth Tablet's zone and will lash adventurers or have branches hanging in the path to poison and burn them. Be careful cutting through the trees as the hanging branches tend to be highly acidic even if they also carry a toxin.
Air Tablet: Information to be Announced
Steel Tablet: Information to be Announced
The dangers of these quests are great and not for the faint of heart. Not every Tablet will offer great treasures to be had, though the opportunity always remains. Pay will be in whatever the adventurers see fit in the treasure and what they might be able to loot off of zealots or even the beasts themselves. Be mindful as each Tablet is obtained, the surviving monsters will find their way to the other Tablets' locations and begin new mutations.
More to be updated as information is gathered (also known as: "as my dumb a** figures crap out"). Locate Rook for details of the quest. Check back regularly for more information or to offer information regarding myths and stories. Scouts and informants may also receive some pay after attempts to acquire the tablets.
