" Remember those little crackers, sweetie! Daddy just loves those. Especially with the soup I'm preparing...." the whiny voice of a middle aged woman never ceased. None could compete with Patricia's skill in rambling about any topic. What was most impressive was that she could begin on the topic of tomatoes and end the conversation with what detergent works best on wooden cabinets. And to no surprise, it drove Teddy mad. Why couldn't his mother maintain a decent thought process? How was she capable of...of...UGH! Just thinking about it was annoying enough. Teddy let out a heavy sigh before moving away from his mother's rambling. Not that it mattered to her, she continued.
Slender hands grabbed for a leather jacket, carelessly tossed on a living room couch, draping it over bony shoulders. It seemed like it was a bit chilly outside, contrary to how warm it was in the Alexander home. The teenager stood still for a moment, looked over the shopping list given to him, and went for the exit door. There, waiting in his beautiful glory, was Paris. Teddy bit his lip as if to prevent himself from insulting the imp and scooped him up into 'loving' arms. " I'm goin' now, Mom. " Teddy announced before slamming the door behind him. Patricia let out a feint gasp in surprise, but smiled afterward. She was glad Teddy was not so disobedient today.
Teddy shoved both hands into his jean pockets after placing Paris down on the concrete, finger tips grazing over the cold coins laying within. He was on his way to the market. Not for himself, surprise surpisssseee, but for his parents. Why did he have to do chores for them anyway? His mother was more than capable AND suitably dressed to venture out of their comfortable home. Yet it was passed onto him to go out of his way. Honestly, did they not care about what he may have had planned out? What if he wanted to lay in bed all damn day? No consideration! Patricia was lucky he was feeling a bit under the weather or he would have complained till her ears fell off. Like mother like son, the two were unmistakably related. No matter how much Teddy denied it.
" You know Paris..." Hazel eyes scanned over their surroundings, checking if anyone was around to catch him speaking to a invisible creature. Two people were just about to cross his path, he paused until they were three or four feet away. " Nevermind. " He decided to not even bother acknowledging the creature floating closely behind. Last thing he needed was for people to think he spoke to himself.

Desdemona was bored. It was early in the afternoon, and already her contractor had been called away to help someone. Currently, Sister Sidonia was off in another one of the homes near Teddy Alexander’s. She had been called specifically at the request of the lady of the house. She was in need of some spiritual advice, or something, and the nun was her first choice or something like that. The demon couldn’t really remember the details, as she hadn’t been paying attention. Why Sidonia was helping someone didn’t matter, and she didn’t really care. All she knew was that she was stuck outside in the alley waiting for the clergywoman to finish up with her meeting. It was too risky for her to come inside, apparently, despite the fact that the hellish creature could now morph into a human form. The nun didn’t want to chance it. No matter – she could wait. She would just have to find something to pass the time. A sigh escaped the newly grown demon as she leaned up against the wall of the alley, and when she did something caught her eye.
Someone, rather. Teddy Alexander was leaving his house and heading off to the market with Paris in tow. Ooo~ Perhaps her afternoon wouldn’t be so boring, after all.
As much as she wanted to just walk over to him out in the open, she wouldn’t be able to do that. Her regular form (as sexy as she was) would be too conspicuous for the normal human eye. Stupid humans – they were so boring and afraid to see anything different. Whatever. This situation was easily remedied. With a creepy laugh, Desdemona began the process of changing herself. Her purple-ish skintone was the first to change, going from a bruise-like color to a pale cream. Her attire came next: gone was her long, glowing trench coat and covered was her chest and stomach. She passed for a girl in a private school uniform in her newly formed human clothes. Last but not least came her eyes. The bright, glowing red faded slowly, only to be replaced with a soft green. The cracks on her left eye also disappeared, leaving the imp to now appear like a red-haired teenager. Freckles dotted her face to give a final touch, and then she was ready. It was time for Desdemona to make her human debut!
“Umm, excuse me --,” she called out, her voice kinder and softer than normal. Instinctively, that changed as well. She couldn’t exactly pass for a human with a cold, devious voice now, could she? Without hesitation, she dashed over to Teddy’s side and released a huff of relief. “I know this is probably an inconvenience, but…I’m new to town. My family just moved here to La’to, and well…” She paused, flashing him an apologetic, but sheepish grin. “I don’t really know my way around. Think you could show me to the market?”
