E3's coming up pretty soon. Feel free to discuss all the news coming out of this years E3...or speculate what you think might come out since we have some time before it happens.

I guess I missed Microsoft's Press Conference, so I'll post their announcements when I get to them. Here's a list of most of the things EA announced in their Press Conference. I don't remember everything, and G4's website isn't helping too much. Anyway, thoughts and comments about any of the announcements?
EA Press Conference:
-Dead Space 2
-Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
-EA Sports MMA
-Gun Club
-Medal of Honor
-Madden 11
-Crysis 2
-Star Wars: Old Republic
-Bulletstorm
-Your Shape: Fitness
-Sims 3

Dion Necurat What's Old Republic supposed to be like? It's going to be an MMO, and it's looking pretty epic. Tomorrow at 5, G4 is going to get a first look at it. I've heard they're going to do 6 job classes (probably 3 for Jedi and 3 for Sith), and while not all classes use the force, they've tried to even up the abilities so that one of the non-force using classes can go up against a Sith or Jedi. Go to G4 to check out the trailers...they're pretty amazing.

If anything, they'll probably use the job classes from Saga Edition (So noble, scout, soldier, scoundrel, jedi, sith, or something like that). Still, if they leave it to open-level like DnD Online, there could be plenty of interesting class combinations.

I don't know much about the game...it just looks good (if I didn't have a loathing for MMOs, I might actually play it).

Dion Necurat See, this is why I can't rely on my friends for any info on E3 (no access to the G4 channel). It's not like I'm doing much better...I still haven't gotten to two of the presentations sweatdrop ...Sony's coming up next though...I heard Microsoft bombed hard, but Nintendo killed it. Best so far. Sony's going to have to have some sort of HUGE announcement if they don't want to be overshadowed.

People buy it, but the point still stands. Hopefully Nintendo wins E3 2010 this year.

Looking over the list again, EA also kind of bombed. I think its saving grace was Old Republic, but still not as big an impact as Nintendo.

It seems a lot of the companies are trying to focus on movement-based gaming (kinect, sony move, wii) and 3D gaming. Nintendo has the best gaming system for movement based gaming so far...so they're putting out the better titles for it. They also put out a new technology- 3D gaming system that you don't need the glasses to play. They're also putting out titles that gamers would recognize (Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc). Everyone else is trying crazy ideas, and there's no need for it. What happened to just making and announcing awesome games that aren't poor attempts at trying to steal the fanbase of what was the weakest of the top 3 systems...

My friend is saying that Microsoft blew Nintendo out of the water...when the only thing they had going for them was Kinect, a console that Nintendo already came out with...years ago. Basically, his claim is that Nintendo reached into the nostalgia pool and pulled out games that have already been made. While true, people LOVE nostalgia games. Nintendo is going to be making profits off of these newer remakes.

Your friend is on crack rofl Granted, Nintendo did look back towards the classics for inspiration...but these aren't remakes...these are new games with new stories featuring classic characters...which isn't bad, considering people have shown they will buy these games. But yeah, thus far, only Nintendo is looking like they're going to make a lot of money...especially with the 3DS. I hate 3-D technology, but this is at least interesting.
