TASHI

Hello! C:

Lunarian Name: Tashi
Origin: Tibet
Meaning: Lucky activity; good luck; prosperity.
Tashi’s mother wanted her first son to be separated from his siblings, who were each named after a Great Lama. She decided to name her child with the blessing of luck for his success. His name also applies in that he is known to rely on his luck much of the time.

Alliance: Legion
Reasoning: Tashi's entire family holds a traditional loyalty to the emperor, and place emphasis on peace. Tashi believes that the rebellious Nobles are only a violent interruption within what could have been peaceful times, and sees them as a bane to society, especially since his entire family holds the belief that the emperor did nothing to deserve the Nobles' uprising.

Path: Warrior
Reasoning: Tashi has been training his entire life for combat and absolutely loves it. He sees fighting as just another way of socializing with others. He was also influenced by his father at a young age to become a warrior due in part to the influence of his gender, because his only other choice would have been to become a monk in service to religion. The lack of hair just didn't have much appeal to Tashi, nor did the chanting or the celibacy.

Personality:
Affable - Tashi is your all around friendly guy. He approaches people and tends to act as if they're close friends, even if he's never seen them before in his life. Socializing is his way of life and without it, he'd probably go crazy. If by chance he hasn't spoken to anyone (which is highly unlikely) for a while, he'll start talking to himself. Even enemies are likely to get chatted up during a fight! "It's so sunny and nice today! 8D" That means that his affability can also be applied as a major weakness; it's pretty hard to pump your fists while holding a quality conversation, and he'd much rather take part in the latter. C:

Sanguine – Tashi’s blind optimism is a force to be reckoned with! He is known to be decidedly cheerful, and tends to think the best of others even if it doesn’t always benefit himself. This particular personality trait has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion, as it often allows people to take advantage of him. When he fails to see past the surface and the ulterior motives of others, he often ends up getting hurt in the process, but he always manages to get back up again with a smile!

Resolute – This boy is determined! His resolute nature makes him a steadfast hold in a sea of indecisiveness, because when he sets a goal, he means it, and there is no way he’s going back on it. This trait makes Tashi a valuable friend, too, in that he’s more than willing to keep any promises he makes. It is a fault in that he tends to be rather inflexible when he’s made a decision, no matter how foolish or impulsive it might have been. He also refuses to consider any opinion that is not his own, which can be a bit of a problem when it comes to keeping the peace.

Impulsive – As willing as he is to stick with his decisions, Tashi is a man of impulse. He has a penchant for spur-of-the-moment choices, and tends to be easily influenced by his emotions when it comes to these impulses. This trait can often lead to Tashi's making pretty bad decisions, and causes a lot in the way of regret, but there are times when an impulse decision can benefit him-- there's just no telling when, when he's in the process of acting on impulse.

Rapacious – If he beats you in a fight, he will steal your wallet. He’ll thank you, but he’ll steal it all the same. This plundering attitude emerged in Tashi at a young age, when he had to deal with his elder brother's hand-me-downs as well as a less-than-wealthy family. As far as he is concerned, he needs the money much more than anyone else due to his "misfortunate" situation in life. However, his parents don't share this belief with Tashi, meaning that he's probably convinced they have less money than they do.

Flaws:

I am definitely going to beat you, and here's why: -
Tashi basically never shuts up. This may not seem like much of an issue at first, but the minute he gets into a fight he's generally more concentrated on chatting his enemy up, as opposed to figuring out how he's going to get a punch in. He usually ends up on his a** this way, because his inability to shut up(why would you talk about how you're going to beat someone and then not manage just because of it?) often puts him in the position of losing.

NOT THE FACE! -
Tashi loves himself. In fact, he loves himself so much that he doesn't have time to love much else. He has an obsession with his appearance that goes beyond words, and if you see him with that tousled look, chances are he spent an hour on it. When somebody-- anybody -- messes up his look, his usually-cheerful attitude will disappear and his temper will be sparked. In a fight, he tends to lose his ability to reckon(if, of course, he gets past talking) when someone hits his face especially.

Ohmigosh, really? -
Tashi is gullible, through and through. If you tell him something, he's sure to believe you, no matter how outlandish it may sound! This has gotten him into more than just a little trouble with school and with his friends, and it can be an especially dangerous flaw to him when he tends to believe hurtful rumors. D:

Hobbies:

I bet you… -
Tashi isn't always right, but he figures he's got a chance and that if he can get in a good bet, he can make a profit. This hobby of his stems from having a large family, where he wasn't given much attention money-wise. He was always getting his older brother's hand-me-downs; that, by the way, could be extremely frustrating, especially for someone as vain and narcissistic as Tashi. He needed money to buy his own clothes, along with a plethora of other shiny objects with which to adorn himself with.

Singin’ in the rain! -
Warning: Tashi is all too likely to spontaneously burst into song. He fancies himself to be a lovely soprano, even though he's really not. Mainly, he just sings in a high, annoying falsetto in the shower and walking down the street. His mother taught him many of the songs he sings, and as dumb as he may sound, he treasures them.

God, if you're up there...
Tashi is extremely religious, as is his entire family. He was expected to be a monk, and although he strayed from that path, he kept his faith. He is(the Lunarian version, I guess) Buddhist and his religion tends to define him.

The Quirk:
"Do not put that thing anywhere near me, auntie!"
"Tashi, it's only Whiskers! Look, he's purring."
"I am going to run away, in an effort not to scream. And if you come, and you find me with that feline of yours, we are NOT RELATED ANYMORE. Got it, auntie?"
"If you say so, but Whiskers wants to love you, and― oh! Run away while I'm talking, why don't you. GOODBYE! >:C"

Tashi's greatest fear is of felines. He will tell you the only thing to fear is fear itself, but that's a lie. Just throw a cat at him and you'll see.

Appearance

Skin Tone: Tanned. Tashi is almost always outside in order to interact with others! Being a social butterfly has its benefits on the skin.

Body Type: Lean and muscular. Tashi's muscles are sure to increase in size as he grows!

Hair Style/Color: I imagine Tashi’s hair to be short. I like the idea of hair on top but buzz cut at the sides such as: Left bottom style or 2,4,8 but I leave it up to the artist to determine the color and style if my ideal is difficult to draw out. (8

Eyes: Whatever matches his color scheme!

Clothing: Something relevant to his heritage such as: this. Another unique feature in the culture is their footwear!
Again, anything that represents Tibetan culture would be perfect C: Of course, it is once again the artist's choice to integrate this however she pleases!

Accessories: Perhaps a few beads around his neck such as these ones, but any other accessories are welcome C:

Weapon of Choice: The Vajra
The Vajra is used for close range fighting and it is held in the right hand as a single weapon. It's 11.5 inches long and weighs about 5 LBs The Vajra

History
Tashi was raised in a religious clan known as the Māutdhka clan. This clan is entirely made up of monks and the children are expected to follow in the same path. Tashi grew up as any other child in the clan with excessive religious teachings and plenty of social interactions. The Māutdhkanians believed that if the children were able to communicate from a young age, then they would follow in the path of serenity. Peace and tranquility is what the clan stands for, so it was a complete surprise when Tashi claimed that he did not want to follow in the path of a monk; instead he wanted to peruse in the path of a warrior.

No doubt Tashi loved to socialize with the children who were destined to be monks and he had interests in the religion, but he had much more appeal towards fighting. Plus, the young Tibetan was not thrilled to follow in his elder brother’s footsteps. The boy felt that he could not live up to what his brother had become so he turned away from the monks. Tashi had thought that his father would accept it seeing as how he trained Tashi to fight, but he was, regrettably, mistaken. Jigme (Tashi’s father) was in fact enraged with the mere thought; he had only taught his son to fight to add an impressive quality to the boy. The Lunarian was devastated and the Karma home was suddenly in chaos.

Tashi made threats to runaway and Jigme made equal threats to disown him. Ekadzati (older sister) and Sangmu (Mother) had desperately tried to stop the fighting but had no avail. Tenzin (Elder brother) later walked in on the argument and ended it by stating that this disagreement was distressing the peace of their neighbors as well as the clan, which immediately ended the bickering. Relieved that the fighting had finally stopped, Sangmu calmed down her husband by saying that Tashi had made his own choice and it should be accepted. Ekadzati was not of much support for Tashi’s favor; she tried to convince him that being a monk would be the honorable thing to do for his family. Words of condolences were the last thing the young Lunarian wanted to hear from his brother, so he could only rely on his mother to provide the comfort he needed.

Though the argument had ended, Tashi somewhat detached himself from his family and spent most of his time wondering the city. He developed skills to con others into bets (his win and loss rate was generally equal), and had a habit of snatching wallets when he was low on money (He was tired of hand-me-downs from Tenzin). The Tibetan would spend so much of his time in the city that some nights, he wouldn’t even return home. Sangmu began to worry for her son and informed their Great Auntie of the situation; she lived in the city and was determined to find the boy. Though Tashi will never admit it, once Auntie had found him, she chased the poor boy all the way home with her cat Whiskers. Tashi was scolded for his behavior, but was told that he could spend his time in the city as long as he returned home every night. The boy didn’t have much of a choice, considering that his Auntie threatened to send her cats after him if he disobeyed.

When Tashi’s younger siblings, Jangbu and Kitsi were born the thick tension between himself and his father had subsided. When Tashi wasn’t in the city he was training on his own, until Jangbu was born. His father had put all his faith into Jangbu following the path of a monk, so he slowly began to offer Tashi pointers on his skills. With his father’s help, the young Tibetan learned how to use the Vajra. After the accomplishment Jigme proposed that Tashi could become a warrior, so long as he fought for the Legions. Tashi agreed whole-heartedly, hoping that his success would be equal to his brother’s.

Family

Sangmu Tho-og – Mother: A kind and generous woman who only wishes the best for her children. Sangmu is a woman who strongly appeals to the choice of the people and the need to express individuality. She’s very easy going and believes that her children need to experience the world around them. She's very supportive of Tashi and he has a strong relationship with her.

Jigme – Father: A strict man who has certain expectations for each of his children. Jigme is fierce and temperamental at times, but he loves his family with all his heart. He’s not happy with Tashi’s choice of becoming a warrior instead of a monk and probably never will be, but his wife often reminds him that it is best to let him choose his own path.

Tenzin – Older Brother: He is the eldest of all the children and has successfully followed the path of a monk with an impressive ranking. Tenzin is the ideal older brother; he’s unbiased, hardly ever puts up an argument, attractive and modest which gives him the “perfect personality”. Tenzin desperately tries to connect to Tashi as an older brother but the younger refuses acknowledge it.

Ekadzati – Older sister: Wise and eloquent, Eka keeps her siblings in check; taking most of her personality from her father. Her actions are elegant and polite but she hardly expresses her emotions; she believes that she is the structure of her family and must act as such.

Jangbu – Younger brother: Hesitant but equally as friendly as his brothers. Jangbu deeply respects both of his brothers and views them as his idols. He is expected to follow the monk lifestyle; however, Jangbu is uncertain if he wants to follow this path.

Kitsi – Younger sister: A devious child who plays countless tricks on her brothers (except Tenzin; it's nearly impossible to throw him off guard). Kitsi will do everything in her power to trouble the people around her; she just loves to make people squirm. This trait worries her family, especially since she’s so young, but they hope she will grow out of it.

Choden - Great Auntie: Otherwise known as the “Cat-lady”. Auntie is a woman who likes to imagine that she’s still young and vibrant but still demands the respect of an elder. She has multiple cats and frequently tries to cure Tashi of his phobia.

All right, and here we go!

LOVE the origin; I think it's great that you're going from a different angle and are going for Tibet. The name is nicely thought out, and I like the reasoning behind it. Same with Tashi's reasoning behind joining the Legion. I was amused by his not wanting to be celibate and shave his head. ;]

When I was reading his personality, I was HIGHLY amused. I love his brash, outgoing, gullible, rather outlandish and slightly hyper self. He's endearing, yet also the kind of person who you'd want to strangle if you ever got into a fight with him because he'd never shut up. I LOVE the aspect of his personality that deals with talking; how he just goes on and on and on, and also talks with himself at times if he has no one to talk to.

Also I'm greatly amused by the fact that he's terrified of cats. I kinda just want Jianyu to throw a cat at him now. |D

When you look at his entire personality as a whole, it seems to be simple, yet still work with what he's like. Every trait seems to coincide with the others, and I see a nice balance between flaws and virtues. The thing I'm curious about is his "rapacious" trait. I can see him talking so much that he'd get caught often, or because he's simply overconfident in his abilities so he gets lax in subtlety. I know he's very particular about his appearance, but is he arrogant overall, or just confident? It's a fine line, so maybe clarify that a bit more?

His hobbies are good; I particularly like the fact that he randomly bursts out into song. ;D

Good appearance, though I'd be a little more specific. Not a whole lot, since allowing artistic freedom is awesome, but maybe just add in a hair color/style. Otherwise nice and clean. =) His family seems good as well.

Very nicely done so far. I look forward to reading your history. =)

So, I'm only going to crit you on his personality/hobbies (the appearance looked swell/ Kuro who beat me to the crit touched on this) because that's what Kaya said you asked for (and I'm a lazy loserface).

- Reasoning checks out
- Warriors are cool
- Legionnaires are awesome. /shot
- Size 11 font is cooler than size 9, but not a must. xD
- I, personally, like to keep the smilies out of the major section; it's cleaner, more professional, and you should be able to convey all of the "8D" "D<" ":C" through writing. It's fine in the quirk section though. (: (See the hypocrisy?)

Now, onto the big crit:
I think, for the most part, your traits are good, but most of them need a bit more expansion. Also, we usually ask for five traits total (flaws and all), but I don't think there's a rule against this set-up. Integrating some of them might a) be good and b) help you flesh out the other traits.

Affable and Sanguine seem pretty close, and I like the two of them. They are a bit skimpy though, as are resolute and impulsive. I see all four of these traits more like bases than actual, fleshed out traits.

Rapacious - does he only steal in fights? Or is he a general pickpocket? Is he obsessed with it? Will he opt for stealing rather than paying in all situations because he feels like he's entitled to it? Or does he view the wallet as a customary part of defeating an opponent? I'm also interested in how he spends his own money.

Flaws---

The "chatterbox" flaw is interesting, and links in with his affable trait. I'm wondering how it applies in all situations, not just in battle.

"NOT THE FACE!" Does he flaunt his looks, and expect compliments from others? Or immediate attention due to his apparent good looks? Does he constantly check himself out in the mirror? Does this trait make him self-absorbed and ignorant of some of the needs of those around him? Expand this, give it some more depth.

"Omigosh" - Does this mean Tashi isn't a good secret keeper? Does he engage in gossip frequently? Is he easy to manipulate? Is he a follower then, and not a "leader"?

Hobbies:

I like his hobbies. I take it Tashi's a "modified" Buddhist, as he doesn't seem to be strictly bound to the philosophies. Is Tashi good at betting? Or does he tend to lose more often than not? (Thinking about his impulsive trait here...)

Overall:
A good base with lots of promise!
Can't wait to see what you're completed quest will be like. (:
