I just purchased this game today, and I'm astonished. The decent formula that was created in UFC 2009 has been improved upon. Gone are the static fighting styles of the previous version, replaced with a more advanced system that gives you a basic moves set based upon the technique you wish to utilize and then allows you to expand upon it using a training camp system.
The graphics did suffer a bit from the previous edition, with collisions being a little less clean and the effects a bit less profound. Now in exchange, however, they offer a more technical (and difficult!) grappling system and even more excitingly you can now push your opponent into the cage to gain better position as well. Also present now is the ability to counter the takedown with a solid knee to the face or a good guillotine takedown. Stand-up striking is perhaps a bit too strong and emphasized for a MMA fighting game (a sport where many matches end with takedowns). While UFC 2010 is perhaps not the perfect recreation of MMA fighting, it is a massive step toward rewriting the fighting genre.

I actually played the beta ... and it was fun and addicting ... they kinda revamp their systems ... grappling is a whole lot better ... striking is a lot better ... they have southpaws ... and not to mention they added MMA camps ... I honestly need to save up the money to get it ...

Indeed. I personally like that the new training system allows you to better represent any given fighting style. I've been building a Krav Maga-esque fighting format for my character utilizing fast, precise striking and limited but efficient grappling and takedowns. Not the most effective style, but still fun!

It is kinda funny ... EA wouldn't touch MMA ... till THQ and the UFC came out with the first game ... reason ... they didn't believe MMA was a sport ...

EA is a goofy company. Their Standards and Practices division is all over the board on that stuff. They'll produce a gory shooter that fails horribly or yet another new Sims game, but won't touch a fairly clean fighting game unless it shows profit potential. Personally, I can't stand them, they're fairly two-faced, but they do make decent games as a rule.
