One fine afternoon at a local lake, a curious truck parked strangely close to the water. Now, this truck was not your average truck, no, it was much more than that. It was a hazardous liquid transport vehicle, but no one on the beach knew this. They went about their day quite happily until it exploded, showering them with a strange radiation. It did not affect most of the survivors, but the few that it did gained strange abilities. The government was quick to call it a terrorist attack, and when similar attacks took place in different areas of the globe, the world reacted with fear...

Abilities: Gavin can absorb and control electricity. Unfortunately, he cannot completely control how much electricity he emits, so he had to create a pair of gauntlets that can keep this in check, lest he wants to explode with electrical energy.
Bio/Personality: Gavin was one of those who was irradiated in the first attack Before, he was an optimist. After the attack, however, Gavin changed. He grew less optimistic, and more cynical. He grew to distrust others, and he began to infuse sarcasm with his now dark humor.

Gaian Name: Selena616
Character Name:Kally 'Kal' Terenas
Age: 19
Skills/Talents: Being ex military has made her fit and an excellent shooter, after losing her job she bought a bike and discovered she had some skill with mechanical things. She'd chalk that up to her past, which left her with a few 'undesirable' skills in modern society.
Abilities: Kal found herself faster, stronger with an uncanny ability to heal faster then normal. She also noted that her vision had improved as well as her hearing and smell. However, she lost the ability to taste making her wonder if there was more to this then she thinks.
Bio/Personality: A military drop out, and motorcycle enthusiast. Kal stopped for a day at the beach that turned out to be pretty high up there on the list of 'bad days'. Oddly the optimist, as long as it doesn't rain, she decided to give up her new found dream of becoming a mechanic and hunt down the people responsible. Kal hates her first name and will probably backhand anyone who calls her it, along with this need of always having to be right and leading. tends to turns people off. With a strong sense of justice, she'll always live up to her training.

Gavin hated the rain. He hated the smell of it, he hated the feel of it, but most of all, he hated how it made him feel. The gauntlets he wore protected him from electrocuting anyone near him, but they did no good damaged, so he sat at a worktable in a shed in his backyard, trying to re-wire his left gauntlet. The sudden splattering of raindrops on the metal roof made him flinch. He'd been jumpy since the attack, as would anyone who had gone through such a large trauma, but ever since he was little, the rain always seemed to bring stress with it.

A quick snap, and Gavin slipped on his gauntlet. Judging by the sudden decrease in the level of light being emitted by the hanging worklight, it worked. His stomach grumbled, and he realized he hadn't eaten since that morning. He quickly pulled on his leather jacket and left, his brown hair almost instantly getting soaked.

It had to rain, seriously? She huffed as the bike purred along a road, she turned onto a little street called 'Lonsdale'. Idly she wondered who named theses things because they sucked. Now she was looking for a house numbered 56. There it was, the owners should be gone for the summer so it would work as nice base of operations before she'd move out. She had to find them before they did.

The front door was locked but that wasn't an issue. She had taken the silver case out of the saddle bags, opened it and removed several metal things. The click that followed was to be expected, the layout of the hall was nice. She closed and locked the door, removing her muddy boots and pattering around. Something felt off, like it was still in use. Odd, she opened the fridge, there was still food in the- What was that?

She moved to the window, there was a man in the yard! "Crap..." She ran from the door but no key in the lock. "A dead bolt with no key? Not cool." Oh well, she'd had to make the best of a bad situation, she was the one with guns, a quick type up and she'd out. An anonymous call an hour or two later and everything would be fine. She leaned against the wall of the kitchen door with her hand on her gun and waited for his appearance, if only she'd known the direction she was about to take...

Gavin was loving the fact that his parents were out of town for the summer. Unfortunately, they told him no "wild or dangerous parties," which totally ruined his plans. But hey, who'd want to come to a party thrown by a guy wearing metal gloves?

Something was off, though he couldn't figure it out. He quietly peered through the window and noticed a pair of muddy boots sitting near the front door. Someone was in the house, his house, and he didn't like it. Electricity crackled down his arms as he slowly turned the nob and slipped through the door.

"Sorry about that, this place is missing its house numbers ya know." She chuckled softly, watching his careful entrance. "I read about this place, seems the owners were supposed away for summer, looks a bit like its not as empty as it seems. You living here I take it?" Considering her predicament she seemed rather cheerful about it. "Come in and shut the door now! You'll catch your death of a cold standing there like that. Something burning by chance?" She'd smelled heat but didn't exactly clue into the fact it was coming from him.

Gavin's hands glowed in a blue light as electricity gathered in the palms of his gauntlets. "Hi, hello, yes, you are in my house. Do me a favor and get out," he growled, advancing towards the intruder. In his mind, he thought out what actions he would take if she refused. Since the puddle his soaking wet clothes had made had grown considerably to touch the edge of her feet, a single shock would probably take her out. But he felt like he'd seen her before, but he couldn't place it exactly.

She drawing her weapon, she aimed for his head. Looking him over, studying him for a moment. "If I were you, I'd get used to seeing people in your house." Her voice was serious and controlled. "I'm surprised I've found you before they did, never expected too really. How about a spot of coffee?" She turned her back on him, holstering her weapon, stepping around his puddles she made the coffee while keeping a wary eye on him.

"I'm sure as much as you'd like to fry me, you'd wondering why I'm here? Next to accidentally ending up in the wrong place of course." She was back to her cheerful self. "Well, you see a short time ago there was an accident. You know that of which I speak, you are one of them no?" She poured the coffee into the mugs. "What do you take in yours?" She looked back at him, she was still leery of him, though has he'd not killed her yet she wasn't taking any risks.

"I don't drink coffee," Gavin said, unfazed by her gun. He'd seen worse, and he doubted she could've pulled the trigger before he shocked her. "Lemme guess. You're trying to track down everyone who was irradiated so you can hand them over to some super-secret government facility and get a nice payday, right?" He crossed his arms and leaned back on the counter behind him, watching her every move. "Or are you trying to find us all to kill us yourself?"

"Nothing gets past you does it?" She said with a laugh before taking a sip. "I commend you on the coffee nevertheless." Both of them were leaning on opposite counters. "I'm sorry to say you're wrong on both fronts though, would you like another guess or can I explain?" She downed the rest of the coffee and walked over to the sink washing out the glass, "or you could follow your gut and see where that leads you." She shrugged, taking far longer then necessary to wash out the mug.

Gavin watched her for a moment, before answering. "My gut made me waltz right up to the truck as it exploded, to try to help people. Instead, I'm stuck wearing this things," he held up his gauntlets, "to keep from killing everyone around me. I don't think I'll be following my gut any time soon, don't you think?" As he finished speaking, he suddenly had a brilliant thought race through his mind. I could adapt this technology into a watch or something, so i don't have to wear these clunky things anymore. "Now, would you care to explain why you broke into my house, or are you going to do all of my dishes?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 09, 2010 3:25 pm

"Explaining is boring." She answered with a laugh before taking the knife she'd just washed off and ran it over her neck. She looked at him a moment, time seemed to slow as her grip on the counter seemed to slacken. Then it smoothed over and she exhaled. "Whew, didn't think that was going to work for a second there." She tossed the knife up and caught it before washing it off, starting on the dishes.

"Like I said, place was supposed to be empty. Was going to slip in, jack the net, monitor the situation and see if I could round up the survivors before the corporation did. I, unlike you, am not so obvious. It seems to me however, that my plan has been derailed somewhat by you complicating things. Still, I think we'll make it work. Unless, that is of course, you'd like to be an experiment and global warfare is your cup of tea."

Gavin had to admit, that was terrifying. "You can suffer from suicide then. Great..." He shook his head, before standing up. "Listen, lady, I don't even know your name, and I don't even trust you. What makes you think i'd let you stay in my house?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:25 pm

"Oh yes, forgot the niceties. Names Kal." She still manged a bow while washing off a plate. "Nothing says I have to stay of course, though I dislike the rain and its intolerable on a bike." She pulled a towel off the stove and began to dry it. "If I've found you, how long do you think you have then? Their watching you." There came a cracking sound, "bother! I've done it again, my apologies." Shards pattered to the ground but, her eyes were fixed on the front door. "Get down, stay away from the windows." Someone was coming. "The bike, damn. I never covered it, of course." She let the plate fall, already moving towards the door. "I ain't asking you to trust me, I'm asking for a bit of common sense." She untied the sweater at her hips and retied it over her guns, flicking her hair back into place. The knock still made her flinch as she paused.

"I was doing just fine until you got here," Gavin hissed, leaning back against the wall so that he could not be seen from the door. "Why don't I answer it? It is my house, after all," he said, now wishing he took off his coat. Sweat dripped down his face, and it took everything he had to keep from wiping it away.
