I was looking at fanart for an anime called Monster and I came across this pic. I imagine their conversation would go something like this...


Tenma: I hope you don't mind me asking, but what happened to your face?

Zuko: My father.

Tenma: eek

Zuko: I spoke out of turn at a war meeting. They were about to use some new recruits as decoys in an upcoming battle. I couldn't let them do that. So I told everyone exactly what I thought. My father demanded that I fight in an Agni Kai-a fire duel. But I didn't know that I had to fight him. I was scared to death. When I refused to fight, he branded me with hideous scar and banished me. I could only return if I had captured the Avatar...who was supposed to have disappeared...until now.

Tenma: I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that. But look on the bright side: At least you are not chasing after murderous sociopath whose life you saved when he was a kid. And even when he was a kid, he was a murderous sociopath. He can manipulate just about anyone, and he can cover his tracks very well. I'm one of the few people who knows that he even exists. Many people have died because of him...

Zuko: Sounds a lot like my sister. Except for the killing part, but who knows what she's capable of. And she's chasing after me.

Tenma: eek ...I guess it goes without saying that both of our lives suck...a lot.

Zuko: Yup.
