As you all know, good posting skills are essential to a good roleplay; without good posting skills, posts can become messy, redundant or repetitive, and hard to follow. So here are some tips for those who are new to roleplaying/have trouble making a good post

- As much as possible, avoid repeated use of flat, one-line posts. Occasional use is fine, like when interacting with another character, but for the most part, try to be a little more descriptive and personal in terms of your character's involvement in the story. Develop your character by letting us know what they think and feel as well as what they do. Think of the roleplay as an ongoing story, a sort of novel that everyone writes together. If you're not sure how to post, read the posts made by other players and note their structure and content. If you have any questions, just ask. We're a friendly group of Gaians 3nodding

-Please read all RP posts, even if they don't directly involve your character. That way, you'll know what's going on, and where everyone is. It is important to read previous posts so that your post doesn't accidentally conflict with other characters' posts and/or actions

- Don't feel that you can't post with your character just because they don't have a good opening to jump into the main plot. Subplots can sometimes occur at the same time, so don't be shy and stand by the sidelines. Have your character(s) do womething in the meantime that could help the story, build character, or possibly affect other characters later. If there's a character that you want to interact with, and he or she is not doing something else at the time, then take the initiative to go find and talk to them. You never know how the story will unfold from one chance meeting.

- Try not to quote large blocks of text in your replies. Only quote the parts of the posts you're going to respond to, if any.

-The easiest posting style to comprehend in a roleplay is written 'prose style' rather than 'stage direction style'

Please try not to post like this:
Aifa: (Sitting down at the table) Man, I am starved!
Relme, Mula, and Binka: Stop thinking about your stomach!

Instead, try to write more like this:
Aifa sat down at the table. "Man, I am starved!" She felt hungry enough to eat the galaxy. Relme, Mula and Binka looked at her irritably, speaking in unison "Stop thinking of your stomach!"

Of course, if you find a way that works for you and is easy for other people to follow, then stick with it. Remember, this is only advice, you are not required to follow these guidelines.

another important thing to remember is that if you don't like what you yourself posted, then obviously the other RPers wont either. make your writings descriptive, have dialogue, action, make your words seem like a script in a movie and as you read it, it plays in your head. you want to bring more people into the story by making them like what they see and want to be apart of it. give intimate details and descriptions of everything, scenery, the characters, the specific play of events, EVERYTHING. play off of one another's ideas and make it interesting. remember, the preview button is your BEST friend!

I always like to use rpg's as a great way to work on communication skills and I think of it in terms of an ongoing conversation in which you put yourself in your characters shoes....
