In this world, nothing is as it seems.

In this world, everything is possible.

The improbability factor is nothing but a number;

The wildest imaginations
The cruelest inventions
The most impossible romances
The bloodiest of all battles
They reign free.

This is Your world. Do with it as you wish.

Slave markets, schools for the Gifted, tortured mutants subject to gross genetic experiments... In this land, everything is on the borderline. Some are rich, some are poor, some are alive and others Undead; all have a something in common.

It is the year 3964. Cities have grown and joined. Tokyo now covers all of Japan, as London and Glasgow have swamped Britain, and the great cities of the western coast of the USA are leaking their mass poison into the water. Very little countryside is left, if at all.
Power sources are, most commonly, Warlocks; evolved members of the human race, trapped and wired up to panels that drain their supernatural energy. Other sources do exist, but they are less common.

Our story begins with two girls. Both prized experiments, both at the end of their game. One is still little more than a child, the other almost a woman. These two control the destinies of anyone and everyone around them. The entire military forces of the world are searching for the elder, whereas groups of freedom fighters (ecologists, humanitarians, etc.) seek desperately to free the youngest.
They do not realize what they are bringing upon themselves.

The world was once called Earth, but is now named Alluria. It's a shining fantasy world up top, but down in the gutters of the old city it's a steampunk nightmare - or dream, for some.
Our story starts in a Mediterranean city called Metrocedy, small compared to the large cities of the day. It is roughly the size of New York City in the year 2000, and just to the northwest of Italy.
Countries have all but ceased to exist. Scotland left the island of Britain and made themselves a city beneath the sea, an Atlantis of sorts, and Mexico has also retained relative independence. Italy has become once more the Kingdom of Rome. Everywhere else is known by the name of it's continent, except the majority of South America, which is known as Brasilia.

Warlocks are an evolved strand of human evolution, bred like animals to be used as power sources. Every single one of them is captured and broken before fused to whatever machine requires their energy. They were once known as Indigo Children, and their DNA only stays within the male line. The Crystal Children, predominantly female, became known as Witches, and have long since disappeared into the northern wastelands of ice.

Here, pretty much any character is fine, as long as you can get the race to fit in. Evolution, portals from other worlds, genetic manipulation... Anything goed. Magic is a bit of a gray zone; in this era it is either the pagan magic of the lost Witches, the energy of the Warlocks, or the extremely dangerous power of the Satanists and necromancers. These demon-summoning cult members are almost always consumed by their own dark powers.

The moon is a shattered disk in the sky, and the sun looms huge and red.

Things may be added and changed as I see fit.

Luna was perfect. Nine years old, with a heart made of something colder than ice and cold blooded killing in her veins. She was the perfect weapon. Only one had any possibility of being able to stop her, but that particular experiment had long since fled from what she had been created to do...
A dozen clicks sounded, followed by a wheel grating and a pneumatic hiss. The door to her less than tidy cell cracked open, pooling her in light. The girl's scarlet eyes stared, unchanging, at the figure in the labcoat.

Half an hour later, her cell door was forcibly closed, half of the man within the cell and half of him outside. The child's laughter followed the armed squad as they left her behind the closed door, her hands dripping with blood.
That was the third one today. Would they ever learn?
So... Her predecessor, the girl Astral, was still on the run. And Luna had been asked to hunt her...
Maybe some sport would be fun.

The girl looked older than she really was, of a regular height and slender build. Her bones were elongated, inhuman, and her seemingly white skin always had a perfect, powdered look. Dark brown eyes that glinted red in direct sunlight peered out from beneath a platinum blond fringe. Astral always kept her distance from other people, no matter what the species or gender. It was essential for her very existence here in the Metrocedy city High School. The girl was not human; oh no, far from it.
She was a biologically engineered strand of amphibious DNA. A mermaid of sorts, created to kill heartlessly. But it had never been in her heart to kill with a clear conscience...
The bell sounded, signalling the start of the lunch hour. Astral blinked out of her daydream and took her time in gathering her things together, making sure to be the last one to leave the classroom. Normally she would find a discreet corner of the library to hide in, but due to a minor gas leak it had been closed this month. Once again she would have to brave the jungle they named a playground.
Outside, children aged 11 to 18 shrieked and ran, fought, laughed... Nobody was still or quiet. Astral cringed inwardly. With the entire world on the lookout for her giveaway blue skin, she had to be extra careful not to smudge patches off of the make up that she constantly wore to hide it.
Inhaling deeply, Astral stepped outside and edged around the hordes of teens, searching for a quiet corner. In the end, she rounded a corner and sat on the floor with her back against the waste disposal unit.
It was difficult, when her core instinct was to kill anyone who annoyed her and the world entire would kill to capture her, but somehow she had managed for the past few years. No friends, no enemies; it was lonely, but it was safe.
Astral closed her eyes and raised her head to the sky, absorbing the sunlight as any other cold-blooded creature might. Beyond the wire fences of the school, alleyways stretched out of sight. This was a middle class high school, situated in the mid levels of the city. Most young people from the two lower classes came here, whereas the upper class students were sent to private schools in the larger cities. There was a fair amount of trouble, but there had never been anything too serious. A mild case of arson here or there, nothing more.
Astral opened her eyes to slits and watched the people as the walked past outside the school boundaries. She liked to people-watch. It interested her to try and figure out their stories from how they moved, how they dressed.

Himi sighed as she looked around the area, they where close to where the military was holding the young girl. -Luna- she recalled. She looked at the large fortress with dissatisfaction, to hold a child in such a place was unhealthy, not to mention the moral status was pretty much zero.

The dark haired jap bit her lip as she looked down from the cold gray brick of the small fortress. Why do they go to such extreme measures to keep her locked away? Himi had heard that the girl was dangerous, a child created to be a weapon. Both human and wolf. Sighing, her scarlet eyes darted back to the rebel group she had been accompanying for so many months now. The 16 year old had mixed feelings.

"Well." the little witch exclaimed as she looked over to Roy, the leader of the rebel clan.. "what do you expect we do? Look at this place, it's a monster, how do you presume we infiltrate it to retrieve the weapon?" she asked her voice more then accusing. The only reason she was helping was because the weapon was indeed just a child.

Roy looked at her crossly, Himi knew the man couldn't stand her, she was a witch, not to be trusted. So, she simply gave a charming smile and waited for a response. "You are the witch." he replied grimly. "I know in pagan traditions you could find a way through walls. Make a door.." his voice was just as cold as his stare. Sighing, the witch looked back to the gray bricked building. "I suppose you are right, Roy.. It will take some work, though."

She placed her hands on the wall, closing her scarlet eyes, the black tresses of her hair falling over her face, concealing her vision from the rest. Her abilities had gotten stronger since she left her icy home. Though she did miss the slight n** of the cold, she was glad to be rid of it. A chant began to spill from the girls mouth, the words dark and forign to any ears around her. For good reason, a witches charms where for her, and her alone to know. The words impossible for anyone other then herself to manipulate.

With in moments a electric current began to fill the air, causing the hairs of any around to stand on end. Smiling the wall before her hand began to crumble from the electric blast. Their way been paved in front of them. They and infiltrated the ward, and now... to search for the child.

[Look Into My Eyes]

User Image - Xavier -

His hair whipped his face in the gentle breeze, brown strands flying elegantly, almost feminine. That is, if it weren't for the hardened and cold face that they danced around. Xavier frowned. It was a sunny day, the light almost blinding. His mechanical eye rolled in its socket, embracing the shadows. He couldn't exactly see in such light; it threw off any readings he might be able to make. Instead, he ducked into the small alleyway, his back to brick walls behind him. He sat there for a time, his mind racing. Calculating.

There was a rustle near the trash can. Xavier's vision suddenly clicked into defensive mode, his eyes swarmed with calculations, red blots, and series of numbers that might mean little to anyone, unless, of course, they knew anything of military talk, or computers. The gentle rustling turned into a loud crash then, jolting Xavier. His hand reached into his back pocket, bring forth the small handgun he kept there. With deathly accurate precision, he fired, planting a single bullet into the brick wall. Underneath, stood a small child. Most probably at the age of seven or eight, shaking in fear and confusion.

Xavier shook his head, pulling the cloak from his head as he stood his full height. He smiled warily, and apologetically as he held his unarmed hand out to the boy. Stunned, he refused. So, instead, Xavier placed his weapon in its holster, rummaging through his pockets. He brought out a small wad of singles, tossing them at the boy's feet. "You should eat... he suggested, before turning away from the young child, once again facing the blaringly bright sun. Except this time, he attempted rest.

Astral's attuned senses picked out the gunshot easily, and within seconds she was pressed against the school fence, staring in the direction it had come from. Without her noticing, the wire rubbed against a small patch on her temple, and revealed a tiny piece of iridescent blue skin. She could she the partially obscured figure of what seemed to be a young man, and the somewhat scared looking boy by the trash cans. Astral no longer felt any emotion at seeing these street waifs; they were a common sight round here. But the man's act of kindness was... surprising. Not many would do such a thing.
She studied his body language, the small part of him she could see, and tried to guess his story. Something spoke to her of a loss... a lover? Maybe. It could even be a dog, for all she knew.
In her head she pieced together the story of the boy and his dog. The mutt had been his only friend, and had only recently died due to an incident while recieving the life-extending hormones available for pets these days....
Astral let herself a small smile. It was not often she had a complete stranger to invent a story for.

Luna paid little interest when they finally came, a half-dozen fully equipped special forces military guard squad, to clear the rest of the body from her cell. She snapped at the last one's ankles as he left, grinning when he flinched in fear. Once again cast into semi-darkness, she sat cross legged in the center of the bloody floor and closed her eyes, letting her mind drift and her highly developed senses explore the building.
She could hear the men as they dragged the corpse away - oh how slow they were! - and someone feed whoever or whatever was in another cell at the end of the hall.
For an hour or so she sat in silence, but when a resonating vibration faintly reached her wolf ears, her eyes snapped open. She wouldn't tell anyone just yet... Well. Hopefully someone would have noticed a hole being blown in a wall somewhere.
Luna began to sing. It was a small haunting tune, and in her unbroken child's voice rang through the air and chilled the nearest guards to the bone. If someone had infiltrated the base, then maybe she could have some fun... It had been so long since her last assignment! And all they ever did nowadays was point her into a room full of people and lock the door...

I am the sunflower

Himiwari-Witch

Himi sighed as she entered into the hole she created in the wall, there was a reason she was nick named the Ghost. For the simple fact she could infiltrate a place, and well... leave barely a trace. She looked at her 'leader' and sighed. Not needing to be told she should seal the hole back up.

Himiwari placed her hands on the dust and debris that once use to be the gray brick wall. Her eyes once again rolling in the back of her head, the energies to create something where different then to destroy, causing her ebony hair to catch in the air, standing like wire behind her as she worked. Then, the same eerie voice began to chant different syllables of words. The brick scraping the ground as it reformed and built it's self upward. Smirking she looked at her work, nothing showing that there was a hole there, besides the brick ash that now lay on the floor, but she was sure the buildings air vents would soon take care of that.
"Well. I suppose we should figure out where this murderess you are so desperate to seek out is." Himi didn't know if her visions where true, or simple dreams of her fears. However the case, she heard stories of the girl they where after, she had seen the images in her dreams, and she still was effy about saving this child. Regardless she closed her eyes, feeling the energy around her. It was easy to tell which way to go, the childs energy being way up there for the simple fact that children have more energy then adults, or young adults in Himi's case. It wasn't hard to figure it out, her eyes snapping open as she looked at Roy, nudging her head in the direction they should take. Though something did bother Himi, the energy was high, high even for a child.

She pressed herself to a wall when she began to 'feel' the guards coming down the hall. Himi closed her eyes, so many different energy signatures. Most she recognized as being the Rebel band that was attempting to save the girl, the others where the guards, and the girl herself. Waving her hand to give the others indication that the guards where coming. She swallowed hard, Himiwari hated to kill, but if it was for the sake others should live... Then maybe it wasn't all bad.

In which I am named.

[Look Into My Eyes]

User Image - Xavier -

Xavier blinked in the sunlight, remocing his cloak so that he could breathe freely. Sometimes it got so hot, his hair would be damp in less than an hour. His hand raised to his temple, feeling the permanent tattoo placed on his face. Strange enough, he had no numbers or tags (except those of his military issue). He didn't need them. His tattoo was actually an imprint on his father's experiments. And by having such a marker, could potentially seek them out and exterminate.

However, Xavier had discarded the negativity. His father had no interest in finding his long lost son. He had new slaves, and new animals to play with. Xavier was done with that life, anyway. Too long had he been a puppet, and forced to do what he didn't beleive in. In fact, Xavier's father could seek him out himself and find nothing. He had no intentions on trying anymore. His father was a lost hope.

From across the alley, Xavier could hear laughter. It was such an odd thing to experience. Because for the longest time, he couldn't. His father felt that emotions weren't necessary in the human body. And, some way or another, made him a heartless killer. But somehow inspired by the noises, Xavier watched the children. The looked so different. He couldn't remember his childhood. Eyebrows furrowed, Xavier looked at the ground. But as he turned his eyes downward, his sensors caught the smallest blue reflection. This caught his attention; it was such a deep vibrant blue, that it wasn't recognizeable. Peering out toward the back of the school, Xavier inspected...It looked like a girl.

She caught his stare, and noticed the tattoo. It dragged up memories of some time long ago... But she ignored them. Instead she concentrated on inventing more of his story.
So the dog had died, and he had... robbed a tramp. A tramp who wasn't really a tramp, and who was actually a warrior from the lands of Old Japan... Who then hunted him down and held him at swordpoint until he returned what he had stolen. Then, the warrior had disappeared into smoke and left him with a newfound sense of empathy as reward. That was why he now searched out orphaned waifs and gave them some symbol of hope... The Jesus of suburbia. Heh.
Her dark red eyes glittered, and her smile grew wider at her own imaginary world, but her subconsciousness was still wondering about that tattoo... Some forgotten memory tried to surface.
Astral's smile faded slightly, her eyes locked onto his seemingly curious gaze. The mechanics she could pick out did not surprise her at all. Nowadays, anyone could have things like vision or hearing improved with robotics, semi-legally.
