These two films depict the life of Wing Chun grandmaster Yip Man (Sifu of Bruce Lee) played by Donnie Yen, much like the style of Jet Li portrayed Chinese legend Huo Yuanjia in Jet Li's Fearless.
I totally love these two films not only because I, myself study Wing Chun and love watching any Wing Chun on the big screen ^_^ but the performance of Donnie Yen is spot on! He trained for nine months solid in just Wing Chun prior to filming Ip Man, taking even his wooden Mook Jong everywhere he went and you can see it paid off with his Wing Chun being top quality and not just some sort of last minute training thing razz .
Aside to the Wing Chun used, Donnie Yen plays Yip Man marvelously, he seems to have the character nailed beautifully and captures the spiritual side of Kung Fu as well smile
Ip Man is currently avaliable on DVD, and Ip Man 2 has just been released in Hong Kong and will be released in the UK sometime next year (2011).
