This is the area around the gate on Earth. Think of it as an airport, but without the planes. Instead there is a portal in an underground complex. Times are given for incoming and outgoing travels here.

Alex stepped out of his Taxi and pulled his luggage out of the trunk. After paying the driver he turned to face the large metal building. It was a huge building, with a large spear coming out of it's center, like the Washington Monument. He knew it was placed right above the gate. After taking in the scenery he decided to head inside. Immediatly he spotted a few people with some... abnormalities. Some had wings, others had tails, it was cool to him. He smiled and headed deeper into the complex.
Mira stepped out of the bus with her two bags. Not knowing what else to do she headed inside and followed the signs into the complex.

Clover walked out of the dense forest. She stuffed her hands in her black hoodie and looked at the sky. "Nice day." She muttered. She gripped the small ticket and walked in. She had no luggage...Besides her black hat...Saves a lot of time. She grinned and walked into the building.

Alex lined up to get a ticket and was happy to find that it only took a few minutes... probably because everyone got there tickets before hand. He paid for the ticket and went to get his luggage checked.
Mira checked her ticket quickly and got her luggage checked. She still had about half an hour or so before she was scheduled to leave. She decided to get something to munch on while she waited. Spotting a small fast food joint she ordered a small grinder and grabbed one of the few tables that was open. She set her things down and began eating.

Clover shrugged and leaned against a wall. She closed her eyes for a moment. She noticed several people in line to check luggage and chuckled, she didn't have to go through that.

Alex looked over and saw another girl just skip past luggage. "Lucky, I got a freaking wait." He sighed and took a few steps forward.
Mira leaned back in her seat and balanced on the back two legs as she ate.

Thane's house was very close to the building, so he walked. He had his luggage bag slung over his shoulder and his hands in his pockets. He realized there was no going back. He was going to live out the rest of his life on this strange world, where he had no idea what was going to happen. He had heard rumors of a shrine of some sort that could grant its visitors the powers of an animal spirit. Thane was curious about this, and it reinforced his decision to leave. He entered the building, fully aware of the risk involved and awaiting the start of his new life.

Clover laughed, "That's why I only brought this." She holds her ebony hat, it had one neon four leaf clover in the center, other than that it was pitch black.
She decides to wait with the boy, so she walked up to him, "Name's Clover." She said.

He moved his bag so it was on his other shoulder and held out a hand to her. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Alex." He said with a nod and took a few more steps forward.

Clover nods and smiled. She shook his hand firmly, "Nice to meet you, Alex."

"So, any reason you're headed through the gate or are you just going?" He said as he put his luggage on the conveyor belt to be scanned.

Thane bought his ticket, put his luggage on the conveyor belt, then went to wait in line. 'Can't wait to reach the shrine,' Thane thought to himself. 'Having the powers of an animal would be great.' He had always wondered what it would be like to fly or breathe underwater or run with blinding speed. He was not very far from finding out.
