It's a Square Enix (maybe Squaresoft when it was published) title, so obviously it's overshadowed by Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, but this is such an underrated game.

The story is somewhat a typical "adolescent must save the world from an unknown entity", however the real meat and potatoes of this game is trying to collect everyone in the game as a member of your party (this requires at least two play throughs, as towards the end of the game, you have to make a decision that will leave half of the people in this game as your enemy, and some can only be obtained after the choice).

Another interesting aspect of this game is that every NPC in the game has their own unique daily schedule. Some of these characters can only be acquired during certain times of day, so sometimes you have to shadow them...and some of the things they do are pretty interesting (one character is a club singer at night/little girl during the day...this also translate into battle strategy too).

And I know I said the story was kinda typical...however, there is a much deeper story to the game when you get down to it. In fact, the choice you have to make in the game comes down to love vs. duty...and neither ends well...just saying.

It's for the PS2 and well worth a buy.

i've played it and it left a very "Meh" feeling to me. I played up until the story split. Jack was one of the more annoying protagonists that I've had the mispleasure of controlling, but the concept was cool.

More annoying than Emil in Tales of Symphonia 2?

Good god, did I hate that guy.

There certainly have been better protagonists (Haseo from .hack//G.U. is probably my favorite) and his lack of any real character (or reason for being the main character....much like Naruto in my opinion) was disappointing. But I think what they lack in quality of individual characters, they make up for in quantity of interesting characters.

Never played Tales of Symphonia, but I put Jack Russel up there with Luke Fon Fabre from Tales of the Abyss (First Half of game). Good god, I wish I had a mute button for their voices, AND written dialogue.

There was a few interesting characters, but for the life of me, I can't remember many names.

All I know is that Gantz was a huge ham, and one of the Lieutenants of the Guild was Jet from Cowboy BeBop.

Now that I mention that, the Guild had some interesting characters...

Edited to fix

Ah...Luke Fon Fabre...what a t**t....I still haven't finished that game...luckily, they turned it into an anime, and I finished that.

As for the characters of Radiata Stories, yeah, I can't remember many of them either. There are just too many of them.

My favorite character is Lily. As soon as I got her, she was bad a** enough to stay in the group...until I got the guild heads.
