I keep getting BSOD while trying to install Windows. I am about to convert to Linux and see if that does me any better.

I attempted Linux for a bit. Then, when conversing with my tech-expert (who does tech support for a living, and I knew had a Linux box as his main rig) shed light on the fact that I'd have to spend hours getting all of the emulator software for my usual programs to work (MMOs, Winamp, IRC...).
Bought a WinXP Sys-Admin disc wholesale cheap that day.
Ubuntu wasn't too bad, though, if a little awkward.
:U Sorry about the BSoDing, though. What part is it erroring at?

Well, I sorted out the windows problem and then broke the adapter that goes between my ancient CRT monitor and the video card... I had already reinstalled windows on my old computer, which is running just fine, so that's what I've got going on.
All I want that computer for is web browsing and email, so I am finding this all very frustrating. I have live CDs for a few different flavors of Linux and found Puppy Linux to my liking. Most importantly, it does everything I want the computer to do-- it browses the web and reads email. *sigh*
Nonetheless, I will probably keep working on it.
