What kind of warm ups do you guys do before you sing? For my choir, we do a couple things. Beam Bam (if anyone wants to know what these are, ask) 12345 Scales (in ooos and ahhs) Me oh my oh
There are more too, but I can't remember right now. You should warm up before you sing a lot, but don't strain your voice with high notes!! Take it slow.

We do a variety of warmup in our choir, and I have my own personal favorites for my individual warm-ups before practicing.
Bella senora (sung in a 1-3-5-8-7-8-1-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) in legato, then in staccato, when getting up into the higher range its also done as where you hold out the high 1.
Mommy made me mash my m&m's entire phrase on one note then ascend by half steps
vowel sounds in 1-3-5-8 legato, staccato.
then just a random assortment of other randomness!

I joined a choir once, and I think we used the scales since there was a piano involved...
but when it's just me, I don't really do warm ups before singing. When I wanna sing, I sing. Usually I sing along when I really like the song I'm listening to...

When I was in choir (graduated out of All City Children's Choir- best choir EVER!- but never went in school choir- director had a thing against ACCC and was too desperate for singers, most people could not sing very well at all.) we did: mommy made me eat my m&ms (go up by half steps) do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do (and then back down) we did TONS of rounds my favorite: rubber baby buggy bumpers bump, bump bumpers buggy baby rubber (we are supposed to be going up in half steps and also getting faster each time- it's hard! but very fun) Now, we did a lot more things as well... i just don't know how to write the rest down, it would look like a bunch of nonsense lol but the ones above do help the most. biggrin
