Professor Bonsai was making her way through the Ilex Forest, trying to find the shrine of the forest guardian with her small team and Smeargle. She stopped underneath a tree in need of a rest, they had been walking all day and she was pretty sure they had gotten themselves lost. "Well....all of these efforts seem fruitless..." she sighed looking over at her Smeargle, Petey, why was happily painting a mark on a nearby tree so they knew where they had been. "Why are we headed to the shrine anyway Professor?" asked one of her assistants. "I heard rumor that there's been a bit of an odd Pichu playing around there, little spikes on the dear's ears..." She watched as another assistant came trudging out of the trees, hauling all of their gear. She paused, expecting a third, but no one showed up. "Caroline, Joseph, where's Carlisle?" the Professor asked expectantly. "Oh he'll be here soon, he's having a bit of trouble with that Vulpix we picked up back on Route Seven in Kanto..." Caroline, the first assistant noted. "Still? It's bad enough she won't stay in that pokeball, she's causing a fuss here in the forest too?" The professor complained. "Afraid so Professor...." "Good grief....."

Morpheus sat in his headquarters, Vulcan laying behind his throne. He was letting his scientists handle the experimentations today, one can only handle so much screaming in one week. He was growing bored though..... He would go out for more subjects, but the local police had begun to crack down on their observations and he couldn't afford a slip up when he was this close....so he'd just have to sit back and wait.

Riza sat on the stump she frequently used as a chair while she ate, she had just snagged a couple handfuls of berries and was finishing off the last few when she heard a commotion in the woods behind her. She stuffed the red berries in her mouth, causing her cheeks to bulge out and found a tree to climb. She swiftly reached the top just as a woman paused below her. She could hear her speaking with one of the others, something about a Pichu. Does she mean the little bugger that tried to zap me yesterday?? Riza thought. Good luck with that one! She was about to leave the people to whatever business had brought them this far out into the forest when she heard a fierce struggle going on behind the others. She crawled farther down her tree's limb and nimbly jumped to another tree branch, to better see what was going on. Is that a... Vulpix?! What's up with the paws? And are those eyes... Gold? Riza crawled even farther down the limb, curiosity getting the better of her common sense, as usual. Just a little closer... She thought. Just as the Vulpix began to gnaw at the rope she was being led by, Riza heard a foreboding CRACK! Oh no... Not again... she thought dismally as her branch began to dip forward. Why does this always happen to me?

"C'mon you mangy thing! The other two keep in their pokeballs! Why can't you!" Carlisle complained, the little Vulpix tugging at the leash. He was lucky the professor had grabbed a fireproof one, considering the little monster had already attempted to burn it off. The vulpix growled at the assistant and began to gnaw furiously at the leash. "H-hey! Stop! Cut that out!" Carlisle yelled, tugging at the leash. Both him and the Vulpix stopped upon hearing the cracking, turning towards the noise. As the tree branch cracked all the way through, the Vulpix took the time of distraction to finish gnawing away at the leash and dash behind the tree.

"Ahhh!" Riza tried desperately to grab onto a branch, something, anything to break her fall, but no such luck. She landed on her rear-end right in front of the man who had been leading the Vulpix. She stared at him, unsure as to what she was supposed to say. Did she apologize? But what would she apologize for? Did she wait for him to speak? Should she just leave? Gah! Human customs are so confusing! I never know what to do! As Riza sat there, her face slowly turned as red as her shot, choppy hair. She was too embarrassed to know what to do, but she was also too embarrassed to leave. Trying desperately to figure out what she was expected to be doing, she glanced away from his stunned face long enough to see the broken leash in his hand. Uh-oh, now he's really going to be mad.... What do I do??? Um, smile! That's usually a good idea! Riza smiled widely, forgetting the red berries she had just finished off.

Carlisle stared at the girl as she fell from the tree, blinking a few times, unsure of what to do or say. "Uh...um...are you...are you okay?" he asked nervously, considering she had just fallen from a tree. He then realized the lack of tugging on the leash, and looked down to find the Vulpix gone. "Oh-oh no! Oh crud..." He looked around, unaware that the Vulpix had retreated behind a tree. "The professor is going to kill me...." He instantly forgot about the girl and began looking for the Vulpix.

Riza watched the man rummaging around. Okay I think, he might have forgotten about me... Maybe if I slowly stand... And walk away... Always works with an angry Tauros, why not an upset human? Riza stood and began to back away, keeping her eyes on the man. She glanced back every now and again to see if she was about to run anything over. When she was a few feet away she noticed the strange little Vulpix sitting behind the tree she had fallen out of, desperately trying to rid herself of the collar that was around her neck. The Vulpix was lying on her back, her front two paws underneath the collar which she was tugging at as hard as she could. She was rolling around wildly, hidden from the man by the small bush that grew at the base of the tree. She couldn't help herself, Riza began to chuckle at the creature, who didn't look nearly as intimidating rolling around as she had with her teeth bared. She laughed as the Vulpix, jumping a the noise, tripped herself and rolled out of the bush, right into Riza's feet. Picking up the tangle Pokemon, she said calmly, "Hello little one." When the Vulpix growed at her, she growled right back, displaying her red-stained teeth. Pokemon. So much easier to understand than humans. I know how to win this argument!

Fed up with her lack of an assistant, the professor turned back and retraced her steps, finding Carlisle scrounging around, searching desperately for the Vulpix they had picked up. "There you are...wait...where's the Vulpix?" She asked impatiently. "Oh...well...um....y'see....well..." Carlisle sputtered. The professor was about to lay the scatterbrain to dry but was interrupted by a call from Petey who had stumbled upon Riza and the Vulpix. Giving Carlisle a sharp glare she turned to her faithful friend and followed his cries to the scene behind the bush. "Well, well, well....what a pleasant surprise," she gave an honest smile, "Looks like our little firefox found our little foxfire..."

Syd sat boredly in the common-room of the Team Shift HQ, situated at a desk, taking the time to sketch out possible uniforms. She had always complained to the Doctor that they would never be a proper team without a united look. Sick of her moaning, and wanting to appease his little doll, he'd directed the task to her. While she had many sketches, she didn't have any that she was absolutely in love with and couldn't come up with any more. She wanted to go on a mission to clear her mind, but they were supposed to be laying low. SO for now, she sat, bored out of her mind in the common-room.

Ariadne sat underneath a tree just outside of Ilex Forest, Goldenrod City wasn't that far away, but she didn't want to enter it just yet. It was just too late in the day to enter the city, in her opinion of course. Plus, she was exhausted from the hike through the forest. Ariadne figured she could at least catch up on her lost sleep. Putting her bag down next to the base of the tree, she laid her head upon it and closed her eyes. Listening intently for any possible travelers.

Trixie walked around the Team Shift HQ, trying not to get lost. She didn't know where she was going, but she wasn't going to show it. She was looking for a room that she was supposed to be meeting someone in. She didn't know who, and all she was told was to go to the conference room, which she never realized the HQ had. But she continued her search, hoping that whoever she was meeting wouldn't be mad that she was late when she showed up.

Riza clutched the Vulpix tighter, both growling at the Smeargle who had appeared and was seemingly calling over its friends. "Stop that! Now I'm going to get in trouble!" She muttered to the Pokemon as more people discovered her. "Today is not my day..." she whispered to the Vulpix, who sat patiently in her arms, still glaring at the people who had captured her. They're going to make me give her up, even though she clearly doesn't want to go with them! Stupid people, I'll bet she just wants the Vulpix because she looks different! Doesn't care one wit about how the Pokemon feels! Probably dragging it behind her because she used up her pokeballs collecting other Pokemon! I can't stand people like that! Riza stood, glaring at the newcomers, waiting for them to explain themselves.

"Not talking eh? You really are more awkward around humans aren't you Riza?" chuckled the Professor. She had immediately recognized the girl from her observing. She was one of a small group of various trainers throughout her travels that Bonsai had been keeping a sharp eye on. How she had been doing so only her and Petey knew, but she had none the less. "I'd heard of fate but this is crazy, I never thought the two of you would run into each other out here." "Y-you know this girl Professor?" Carlisle questioned. "Yup. For a kid lacking any of her own, she sure knows how to handle them. My apologies to you and the rest of the crew Carlisle, but that little Pichu isn't the only reason I've been running around these woods." Petey smiled happily at Riza and the Vulpix, painting a smiley face on a nearby tree to show his friendly-ness. "Smeargle eargle!" We found her we did! he cheered.

"Oh I give up!" cried Syd, tossing an idea into the nearby wastebasket, "The typical hoodies are atrocious, Team Aqua never had a sense of fashion, and black is so last year...Not only that, but it has to be easy to move in, conspicuously inconspicuous, and have adaptations for the various weather conditions across our team lands....Not to mention it has to represent us! grah!" She kicked the desk, a Luxury ball rolling off and opening to reveal her Meowth. The little black kitten stared up at her consolingly. "Nya, nya!" she cried. Syd looked down at her and sighed. "Sorry Hallow. You're right. I need to cool off."

Trixie was getting annoyed now. She'd been wandering around for too long. She walked around the main part of the HQ looking for a conference room, but never found one. She gave up the search, deciding that if the person really wanted to see her they would have to find her, because she was tired of trying to find them. She changed her direction. She was going to relax in the common-room, which wasn't very far from where she was now. Usually no one was there around this time so she could relax. When she arrived she tore open the door but stopped in her tracks when she saw a black haired girl and a black Meowth inside. Not wanting to interrupt and deal with people, Trixie started to close the door.

Hallow turned immediately at the sound of the door and hissed, always wary of an intruder. She knew it was a common-room, but the fact remained unchanged that her master had been the only one in there. Syd turned at the hiss and brightened a bit, glad to be accompanied by someone. She brightened more when who she believed she saw was a female, a nice change from the men on Morpheus' team who had been known for making remarks of her beauty...poor remarks... "Oh come in, no worries dear, I'm not as intimidating as I look if you're on my side."

Riza's eyes widened, she knows me!? "Ex- excuse me?! How do you, how do you know my name?" Riza stumbled over the words, confused and trying to spit them all out at once. She really did hate talking to people... But how had this woman known that? "And what do you mean about fate?" Riza looked down to the Vulpix in her arms who stared back at her, just as shocked as she. "HAVE YOU BEEN STALKING ME?!" She screeched.

Monika sat and stared out the window. How am I going to do this? She didn't want to disappoint her brother but it was too hot to learn in her opinion. It was cool in front of the fan and she just didn't feel like moving. Monika began to doze off, sleepy thoughts of running around with Peter and Steve playing in her head. She looked down to see the tiny Pichu curled up at her feet. So that's why my toes were warm. Peter, her Eevee was jumping around her head trying to catch the dust that was visible in the sunbeams. Awww, he's so cute. Maybe later we could go out...zzzzzzzzzzzz. She fell asleep before she could finish her thought.

Professor Bonsai held up her hands, "Hey! Stalking is such a strong word....I prefer observing..." She corrected. She realized that statement didn't help at all. "Let me explain," she started, tightening her ponytail, "My name is Professor Bonsai, and like most pokemon Profs I collect pokemon to give to trainers, along with all of the necessary goodies a new trainer would require to start his or her journey." She smiled as she spoke, trying to seem friendly, "Of course, unlike other pokemon profs, I don't have a lab. My associates and I travel the lands in search of unique pokemon and in our travels often come across trainers who can't make it to one of the more well known professors and help them out." Carlisle leaned out from behind his boss and nodded, "Lately the Professor has said she's been keeping an eye on a few trainers for a specific job." He winced as Bonsai elbowed him in the stomach. "Yes...In your case I found the trainer first and then ran off to look for a pokemon. I knew you were prone to exploring Ilex, but I never figured I'd stumble across you here in the manner I did today."
