Alternate Title: How I Stopped Worrying and Learned To Love Spandex.
Introduction:
"I've seen 'em lose, I've seen 'em win, but I've never seen 'em quit."
A metahuman crime-fighter, he can usually be seen running around the urban landscape beating bad guys up or saving people from said bad guys. Also seen at local grocery stores stocking up on painkillers and energy drinks. Also a frequently seen in the battledome, probably losing in some embarrassing manner. There is about a 50% chance that whatever he says contains the words "Justice", "Truth", or "WHAT THE". He started out as a sidekick and gained his own reputation as a superhero later on. His secret identity is kind of an open secret to the people of the city (the mask wasn't going to hide his face forever) but it doesn't interfere with his life too much.

Name:Enrique Espinoza
Alias: Mechanical Phoenix (It's kind of an artifact title by this point.) AKA Phoenix
Age:21
Height: 5'9"
Nationality: AMERICAN.
Job: While he usually works as a teacher's assistant, he's put the university bit of his life on hold at the moment.
Base of Operations: Sun City, located somewhere along the coasts of Florida.
Personality: He doesn't expect people to take him entirely too seriously, so he doesn't take himself too seriously. Generally friendly and easy to get along with. He's a bit awkward in social situations, but people learn to warm up to him over time. Although he's quite flexible and adapts quickly to new situations, he's been known to be stubborn in his own way.
Although he's lost most of his naivety over the years, he still has a basic trust in the inner goodness of people. Sometimes even this leads him to be taken advantage of, but he's still more savvy and cynical then he lets people know.
Powers and Abilities:
Enhanced Metabolism:
His powers give him kind of an extra boost in daily life. He has a little more endurance than the average person. He has more immunity to things like poison and drugs, though an extra amount of it is usually all it takes to knock him down.
Enhanced Strength and Endurance:
He can take more hits and can maybe lift heavier objects. Where this really comes in is the extra endurance he gains, which definitely comes in handy when fighting crime or battling it out in the battledome arena.
Martial Arts:
Extensive knowledge of self-defense techniques is kind of necessary in his field. He knows several different ways to disarm a man, and this comes in handy especially since he mostly fights unarmed.
Family, Friends, Allies:
Mother: Mrs. Teresa Espinoza
A former Cuban national, she came to the United States when she was in her teens. She met Mr. Espinoza while she was working as a waitress in Sun City. They eventually fell in love and got married. She's a rough and tumble kind of person and will not be afraid to voice her opinion or fight to defend herself. Enrique used to worry about her safety when his secret identity first came out, but she's proven that she can and will handle anything swiftly and brutally.
Father: Mr. Aurelio Espinoza
Born and raised in Texas, he joined the army at the age of eighteen. While in the army, he volunteered to test some drugs, having been told they were a vaccine for something or another. By the time he noticed any changes in his physique, word had gotten out that the experiments really entailed an attempt at creating metahumans for the army. By then most people who noticed that they had powers were smart enough to keep their mouths shut.
He retired from military life after ten years and became a salary man so he could focus more on family.
Sisters:
Laura (Deceased)- Enrique's oldest sister at nine years. The first Phoenix, she became a superheroine after her friends were victims of assault and robbery after an exceptionally bad spike of crime. She was known for her cool, calm demeanor and became an important member of Sun City's premier crime-fighting team- Alpha Justice. She met her doom during a particularly brutal battle with a team of villains.
Helena- 6 years older than the current Phoenix. She also inherited their father's methuman abilities, but showed very little interest in joining her siblings in their crime fighting career. She served in the Navy briefly and went to college. She earned a degree in economics and hoped to become a lawyer when she was recruited into the U.S. secret service. Now known as Blackbird One, she helps keeps tabs on the country's metahuman activities. Can also occasionally be seen in the battledome. Very grumpy towards her brother, but they do love each other and she will often go out of her way to protect him.
Friends/Allies:
Alpha Justice-
Used to be Sun City's best team of heroes, but it has since broken up. Phoenix has most of its former members on speed-dial though, and many will not hesitate to help if he really needs it.

History
Born and raised in Florida, he was the youngest of three children. His childhood was mostly normal, and most of his time was well spent annoying his two older sisters.
He discovered his sister's crimefighting career almost entirely by accident, and when he found out he didn't leave her alone until she let him in on it. Since he was only fourteen at the time, the Alpha Justice team was extremely reluctant on letting minors in on their battles. Still, Laura agreed to sign him on as a kind of team sidekick.
This continued on for about two years. Enrique and Laura became a pretty good duo when it came to bashing in brains. Unfortunately this ended when Laura died during a particularly brutal battle with one of the more powerful villain organizations, Meta Wild (Enrique being around 16 at the time.) Alpha Justice lost another member, their leader, that day as well, and the team sought vengeance and justice relentlessly. They broke up the Meta Wild organization, and they made a special effort to continue because of the death of two members.
The team broke up about a year later. Since their archenemies were gone, crime in the city lulled. Some members of Alpha Justice moved to other cities to explore solo identities as crime fighters, and one or two others gave up crimefighting entirely. Enrique quickly found himself working alone. It was around this time that he reevaluated his life and took his sister's moniker as his own.
So Enrique has been fighting crime as Phoenix ever since, all while going to highschool and then college. It's been quite a ride for him, but he figures that he has just really gotten started.

Trivia:
- Favorite superhero is Captain America
- Hawkgirl is a close second.
- Stephen Colbert is third.
- The mask really is just for show. Most people in the city know who he is they just know better than to bother him too much about it.
-Has a degree in Sociology
-Claims Rick Astley is his REAL Archnemesis.
-Dislikes working with Helena when it comes to fighting crime.

Jumping the Bandwagon/View on other Battledomers
-Raven: Is literally The Vamp. Don't underestimate her and try to avoid outside of combat situations.
-Alnette: Femme Fatale. I think she's a bit nicer than she lets on. Nonetheless, avoid outside of combat.
-Nora biggrin espite good intentions, will rip off your p***s. Avoid.
-Nyrk: I'm glad I'm not an occult being. Woo!
-Speedy: For what it's worth I think he'd make a decent superhero despite the fact that he's a crazy hobo.
-Zack: Pyrotechnics and guitars? Friggin' sweet.
-Bonnie: She seems pretty nice. Though I have to wonder about her taste in men. *SHOT*

-Rusty: Man that guy is rich. Also shiny. Huh.
