Slowly, ever so slowly, you, a dragon, wake up. The dull grey light burns your eyes, so you approach consciousness on tenterhooks. Soon, however, you are aware of others in the grey, round room. They look at you, and talk to each other. Both Ilium and Trillium occupy this odd space, and you have no recollection of how you got here.

The room is large, and seems to change size to accomodate the number of dragons in here. It is much too small to fly, however, and an Ilium standing on his hind legs or a Trillia raised up by her tail can touch the ceiling with their horns. In the middle of the shallow domed roof is a tiny dot of grey light that illuminates the entire area, but no matter how closely you look at it, it seems to stay the same size in your vision and hangs in the air.

This is the Room.

~*~

This is kind of like a mysterious chat room. Your dragon, whether they be Ilium or Trillium, or one of the more exotic species, wakes up here with no memory of getting here. There are no doors or windows, and the light is sharp but dim. Dragons appear out of nowhere unnoticed, until they wake up, and dragons disappear for no reason. You roleplay your dragon, and you interact with the others here.

Special things can happen, once in a while. An object can appear, and if a Trillia or Ilium is the first to roleplay getting it, your cert may undergo a special change. It could be an entirely new colour, or special characteristic, or just an item that he or she wears. The item, a ring, necklace or bracelet, or some other object, may just be decoration or can give your lucky dragon a new ability.

-If you get it, and you are in the main roleplay, you should work it in somehow so you can use it.
-You have to be ACTIVE to be awarded with it; You can't just lurk until you see it.
-Only one per person; If everybody in the room has got one already, except for one dragon, then that one dragon gets it. Only when there are no dragons in the room that haven't gotten one will they get second edits.

All Gaia ToS, and SkieBorne's rules for unofficial roleplays apply. Anything that is not a special, rare, once-in-a-blue-moon item does not cross over to the main roleplay.

He groaned, and held his head with his longer than usual claws. Normally, he would have had them curled inward to keep them sharp, but right now he just didn't care. The teal-green Trillia fluttered his eyes open, only a little bit, to look at his purple-tipped fingers and the grey room.

Ruisdar sat up, and stood with his hands acting as feet. He scratched his keel with one wing-thumb, and looked about the dreary grey room. He sighed; he was utterly alone in here, and had no idea how he came to be here.

"Just great. Just real great. Just how the hell am I supposed to 'further my studies' now!?"

Ruisdar, standing up on his tail, suddenly noticed another in the room. He hadn't seen her before, in here or otherwise, and he would have known if such an Ilium had been sleeping in here. Nevertheless, he watched as she apparently woke up and went through some of the thoughts he had gone through.

Sneering unpleasantly, Ruisdar curled his talons into semi-fists to protect their length and sharpness, and studied the Ilium. Black, covered in fire or feathery scales that only look like fire, and with a real 'teacher' air about her. He knew that kind; He's had many teachers trying to get him past the Apprentice rank.

He raised his chin in the air and clicked his tongue at her to get her attention. "How the hell did you get in here?" he said, blinking as his eyes became adjusted to the grey light.

The voice of the Trillia caught Oni's attention and her head swivelled to fix him with her penetrating gaze. Her eyes narrowed at his tone, "You expect me to know? I can't teleport and there's no way in or out. How do to think I got in here?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she returned to gazing at the overhead light.

Perhaps it was some kind portal? She reared up and attempted to grasp the light with talon. Her eyes told her she was near te object but her hands informed her she was far from actually touching the light source. Snorting, she looked at the shadows and began to pick at them. They only streched as she tugged on them, refusing to take on any shape she tried to mould them into. Sighing, she lay down on her side and regarded the Trillia.

"And who might you be?" Onysablet had an excellent memory for names and faces, she could usually meet someone once and still remember their appearance five years later. Appearing totally relaxed, she drummed the ground with carefully sharpened claws and tucked her wings more closely to her body so that they didn't take up as much room.

Ruisdar sneered. Typical Ilium teacher-type, the superiority-complex. Still reared up on his coiled tail, he rested with his palms on the wierd ceiling and broke eye contact. He looked about the room, and nonchalantly stretched with his wings spreading far. In the middle of a yawn, however, he stopped and nearly choked himself.

He furled his wings close to his body again, and slowly lowered himself back to the floor. Those green with purple wings spread once more, and though it looked like they should touch the walls they didn't. Ruisdar studied the angle of the light for a moment, then moved closer to the Ilium. He looked at the light again, then at his shadow. The surgeon, muttering to himself, looked at the walls to his left and right, then opened his wings.

Though before, the room had only been big enough for him, it somehow allowed for the Ilium. And though he couldn't actually see the differences, he knew something was afoot. Again, it looked like his wingtips would hit the walls, but again they didn't.

The Ilium entirely forgotten, Ruisdar turned around and measured his steps before he reached the wall. It appeared he was more interested in the room than he was for company.

Hallie woke up, confused and all of the sudden alone for the first time since she hatched. Her eyelids recoil as her pupils dilate, adjusting to the grey hue of the room. With the awkwardy of a hatchling she ruffles herself up to her hind legs, fidgiting with her wings to fold them in place behind her back.

She takes a few steps toward the voices that echoed, or at least she hoped she was stepping towards them. The room confused her, an endless cage of the same color surrounding her.

She missed her boy.

Waddling forward she used her tail to balance herself, her ears twitching as she tried to pick up the location of the voices. There was a silence in the conversation and she feared that she was lost, perhaps never to find her way out of this maze.

Then Hallie turned her neck and caught a flash of color. Fully twisting her body around to face the image, she swiftly began waddling towards it. When she recognized the creatures were dragons like herself (and MUCH larger) she stopped, giving the beasts a wide berth.

A small sound emulated from her throat, as if she thought to hail a greeting and then retracted the idea. Instead she decided to sit there, watching and wondering if she would get any answers, or get back to her bonded.

Pheona's eyes slowly opened. It was extremely dark, and it took a few moments for her dragon's eyes to get use to such surroundings. Getting up slowly, her claws gripped of what she could with the pavement. Hearing voices, her own trilled through the darkness. "Hello? Who is here?" She stepped slowly infront of her still uncertain if there were any obstacles in the room. Her form seemed invisble, save her eyes and wings if they were stretched. Pheona stopped when she neared one of the figures. "Hello?" She repeated. "Have you been trapped here as well? Where are we?"

Bored and quickly becoming annoyed, Onysablet plucked at the shadows her body cast, twisting them into shapes reminiscent of spears and swords. Yawning hugely, a mouth full of very sharp and pointed teeth glinted in the dreary light as a mewling sound appeared in the room. Like a cat, her mouth snapped shut with the conclusion of her yawn and she looked around, alert.

Spotting the pitiful bundle toddling around, Onysablet experienced the usual flush of emotions. First concern and then distaste for the noise and smell a hatcling usually meant. She had never really gotten along well with children, preferring to teach the older students at the academy, and babies always seemed to burst into tears when she looked at them - human or dragon, it didn't matter.

Sighing, she looked the other way and spotted yet another figure in the room. A teenager, dark in colour like herself. Sniffing, she looked back to the Trillia and grinned. "Well, we have company and I'm certainly not babysitting." She rose and stretched, surprised that the room accomadated her expanding wings comfortably. Her brow furrowed as she flapped her wings back and forth a couple times, testing the apparent charm.

No way out but they could fly if they so chose. An interesting concept... I wonder if some rogue got a hold of an artefact. The occasional contraption would pop up every now and then, usually in the hands of a wealthy merchant or thief and was the Mages' unfortunate responsibility to track down and retrieve such objects. If that's the case, I haven't met a person yet who hasn't managed to reveal themself one way or another. She sat back down and watched the two newcomers, a thoughtful frown etched on her face.

Ruisdar bared his front teeth at the wall. He hadn't seen the room move, or change, or do anything, but suddenly it could fit all four dragons, three of which he was vaguely aware of. His curious mind made him think on it; did the room change to accomodate the arrival of dragons, or was the room itself bringing in dragons?

He stretched his wings out again, and this time his tips didn't touch the wall. He moved forward until the circular walls reached their limit, and looked back. It was twice the size as before, but he never actually saw it grow, even though he had been watching it closely.

Then the surgeon realized the Ilium was talking to him. "What? Babysitting?" Then he looked down. A dracling, and a youngling. The baby was warily quiet, and Ruisdar silently praised her sense to keep her mouth shut. The other, however, had no thought of personal safety and was barraging the two adults with a multitude of questions.

"Shush. You'll wake whatever brought us here, and then it will eat you." Ruisdar smiled cruelly as he played on the child's imagination. "There's a monster, waiting for you to get too close to the walls so it can grab you."

It was obvious that Ruisdar was not the nicest of Trillium.

Hallie frowned at the two adults in front of her. They weren't very friendly at all. She continued forward, noting the crazy changes the room played when the adults moved, and trying to have her young mind comprehend it. She couldn't.

Her head tilted to one side as she tried instead to comprehend the three creatures trapped here with her. Hallie wasn't frightened of them, as much as she was curious. She had no real fear of death yet, because the concept was so vague and distant to her. This caused her curiosity to be young and naive, and generally pretty dangerous.

Monster? To eat her? What kind of creature could do that, besides possibly the two large adults she saw now. They didn't seem like they would -eat- her, unless maybe they were hungry. She didn't know.

Instead, Hallie turned her focus to the wall next to her. She reached out a claw to touch the side that seemed so close to her, and never reached it. She fully extended her forearm to try and still she could not touch it. Was her sense of depth that off? No, something was definitely going on here.

Pheona gives a small snort, her wings stretching and nostrils flaring. "Let the monster come. I'm not afraid." Opening her maw, she let out a defiant roar that seemed to echo throughout the room. It slowly silenced after a while leading to the roomw as quite huge and spacious. As her eyes adjusted, she saw the other occupants of the room and grew slightly better about her surroundings. Relaxing herself, the juvinile settled down on her belly, her hind legs slightly tucked under. Her forelegs were out infront of her; her neck upward. Pheona was resting much like a dog would just lounging. "So..how did we get here?" She asked the others hoping they had answers.

Onysablet scoffed. "That bravodo will prove troublesome if you're not careful." Though she looked at the hatchling, it was clear she was taking to the juvenile. Yawning, Oni revealed a set of very sharp set of teeth and pink forked tongue. She lashed her tail about as she eyed the ceiling.

Suddenly, she bounced up with great speed in an attempt to touch the wall. She had been wondering if some kind of spell with a set distance from the wall was in place. Even though she jumped fairly high, not even her crest brushed the ceiling. Annoyed, Onysablet set back down and began pacing looking to everyone like an angry bear.

Her temper had never been a good one, nor had she ever liked being cooped up or separated from her bonded for long. Issuing low growls, Onysablet's shadow became spiked and dangerous looking. If anyone approached her, they'd find themselves stepping on caltrops.

Generally her magic served her well, but in another dimension? where shadows held little power or substance, she felt very exposed and weak. As a mage, Onysablet had developed her inner energies and neglected the phsyical to a certain degree. She couldn't just tear out the ground in an effort to break the enchatment.

Heaving a huge sigh, she made her way back to her spot by the wall and glared at the Trillia as though it were all his fault. Why not? He had been in there first. Who's to say he isn't the key out. Onysablet smiled. Now, that's a thought.

Ruisdar scowled at the juvenile, who had returned to asking questions. He ignored her. Instead, he returned to studying the room, a curious eye taking in everything he could see. It would appear that, at the maximum, the size of the room depended on the number of dragons in it. There were now four dragons, and it was four times the size as it was when only he had been in here.

But not the ceiling. If he stood up on his tail he'd be able to touch it near the wall; it was slightly higher in the centre. Ruisdar didn't like it. The room changed, but never when it was being observed. He sniffed, more out of thought than actually smelling the air. There were things going on he didn't understand, and he didn't like it.

Then he noticed the Ilium glaring at him. What for? He glared back, standing up on his wings and holding his long claws in front of him. Ruisdar saw in his peripheral vision the strange shadow, and his attention was riveted on that. He quickly looked about to see if anyone else's shadow was doing the same, but it appeared that only the Ilium was affected.

Narrowing his eyes, he pointed at the odd silhouette and said, "What's that?"

Onysablet said nothing and continued to fix the Trillia with her hot gaze not all affected by his glare. Her shadow undulated a little, spiking in areas and settling into ice-smooth patches elsewhere. A small smirk appeared on her lips. It was clear she was challenging the Trillia to find the answer to his question on his own.
