I wouldn't even be doing band anymore if it wasn't for me wanting to be field commander next year. I just want to help the other kids with their band issues and be a good example as a leader, but they all hate me for some unknown reason. If they don't hate me then everything that happens in the same room that I'm in is awkward. People will go out of their way to stop whatever game their playing, stop their conversations, or even walk away just because I walk in the room or towards them. I haven't done anything to anyone and most of these people I've known since early middle school. What should I do?

I'm sorry those people in your band sound like assholes that don't respect your authority, but if you're field commander you're probably gonna have to put up with them and stay in band. confused

I'm not field commander, I'm the percussion section leader.

Well...I think they're just trying to get on your nerves or something which means that they're just really immature. I think you should try to not let them break you and try to handle it in some way... I'm not sure which way... but let them know that you're sick of their stupid games.
