I showed 4-H for a year when I was younger, and was forced to do showmanship with my eventer on my high school team. So I've done it a bit.
I'm assuming that when she's not spooking at the kids on the bleachers, she backs straight and pivots neatly for her turns? Those are some easy points right there.
You seemed to handle her behavior pretty well.
The biggest thing I found when it came to showmanship was, honestly, flirt with the judge. Not in a "I want to go home with you tonight" kind of way, but smile, chat, be friendly, etc.
Besides that, I don't think I can really give you any specific pointers. It was... around 10 years ago that I was showing western, and styles change so rapidly in that world. I'm probably horribly out of date by now.
One of the things that I love about dressage, it very rarely changes.
smile No fashion to keep up with. I like being able to wear the same jacket for 10 years.
xd But I'm glad you're enjoying showing your mare, I hope you have a lot of fun with 4-H and learn a lot.
smile She's a pretty mare, by the way.
smile Yes, when shes not spooking she does it Perfect, and clean.
If you look carefully you can see that she picks up her feet in a back and the little tiny piviot we were doing, she knew. I was awefully upset about the kids running around, i gave one of the parents such a dirty look during my class lol.
I know what you mean by flirting. I pretty much have the biggest friendly smile on my face during showmanship, and its always a yes or no ma'am or sir.
Lucky! I have too update my western wardrobe pretty often. I have a decent english saddle but i never ride it. I've never taken a lesson. All of my training has been western.
Thankyou though, (: i ADORE her so much. Shes pretty clever as well.
