Prologue

Long ago during the ancient times of Japan, lived a beautiful princess named Mizuki, whose skin was as pale as the moon itself. When Mizuki was an infant, her parent’s closest companions introduced her to Tamotsu, the son of a great Inu Daiyoukai and lord of the Western regions. Soon after their first introduction, they grew on each other quite quickly.
Time passed and the two families grew closer while their children did the same. Noticing ever so slightly, the behavior and well-being, and that Tamotsu’s once beautiful mother was slowly getting sicker and sicker. At the age of five, Tamotsu’s mother died, and not but a year later so did Mizuki’s father. Tamotsu walked his grieving friend to her castle’s garden then spotted the white azalea and made a promise to her upon that very flower, as did she on another; he promising no harm shall befall her as long as he lived, while she promised never to leave him. As the days grew longer a friendship turned admiration, turned other feelings of love; unfortunately for Muizuki and Tamotsu, neither knew the other’s feelings of the other, fearing rejection and heartbreak.
As Mizuki grew older her mother became more jealous of her daughter’s beauty and strength, for you see, the gods selected people to rule the lands below to take better care of their people, and only the strongest of woman could over-see the humans on Earth. Due to her mother’ lack of responsibility, both her kingdom and the lands she was to protect were slowly crumbling before them, sparking rebellions and wars all around them, giving the need to erect personal bodyguards for the princess including her friend Tamotsu.
When Mizuki turned the ripe age of fifteen the only man who dared to capture her heart was plotting to kill her to be with her mother. On the night of their engagement celebration, Tamotsu set out on patrolling his lands with his father; but before he did so, he made sure to give a letter to Mizuki’s mother to give to her that would have finally exposed his feelings.
As the night proceeded, unexpectedly the rebels decided to attack the palace, and bloodshed followed suite, as the number of bodies multiplied. The once joyous sounds of mirth and delight that filled the room, changed to screams of terror, and the man who once captured the heart of Mizuki and her mother turned to protect her from a rebel’s blade, but was stabbed in the back by Mizuki’s mother whom then killed her daughter while the palace burned around them.
The young prince returned to his beloved’s palace only to see it in ruins. Seeing there were no survivors he weep, and through blurred eyes, he saw a bright beautiful object off in the garden. As he walked closer he noticed it was the first promise flower he ever made to her was the source of the incandescent glow. So deep in his heart he knew she would be alright and he would see her again in another life.
