The year is 2072. The Earth has officially entered WWIII, and there is a constant threat of a Nuclear attack being used to end the war. Eventually, the unthinkable happens; the U.S. is invaded by Chinese and Russian forces, through Alaska and into Canada. The U.S. responds with, hell of all hells, a Nuke.
Skip to year 2074. All of the world's Nuclear warheads have been fired, and most of them have exploded. The world is quickly approaching a nuclear winter, and whatever humans that survived the blast are quickly taking cover in anything they can find; canyons, caves, anything. Unbeknown to them, governments all over the world have built 'safehaven' panic rooms, fully stocked and with a gene pool viable enough for 300 years of remaining hidden, and progression of human life as it was. Meanwhile, in a top secret facility somewhere in the northwestern U.S., what's left of the government's finest scientists are quickly putting together one last attempt at human continuation; Project Omega. The idea is to create the perfect human; immune to radiation, immune to diseases and sickness, stronger, faster, smarter. The next step in evolution. But before they can see if their efforts pay off, the nuclear winter falls. And the scientists are forced to put their experiments into cryo-stasis pods, in the hope that, when the Earth is habitable again, the experimental humans will emerge and continue life on earth.
Skip again to 2275. The nuclear winter is over, and radiation has fallen to a safe level. Humans, or what they have become, start emerging from the caves and canyons they lived in for so long. The doors to Omega Base remain closed... But deep inside, the cryo-stasis pods are beginning to open...
