Race: Ruyth is human, or at least mostly human. His father was a very far-removed descendant of the Fae, leaving Ruyth a touch of fairy blood. Neither are aware of this.

Skills: While not physically powerful, Ruyth’s talent lies in his ability to control himself and manipulate others. He has become adept at watching people for emotional weaknesses, which he will then exploit if necessary, in order to protect himself.
Powers: Due to his Fae blood, Ruyth has the empathetic ability to subtly pick up on and influence the emotions of others. He is not fully aware of this ability, and attributes what effects he does notice to his own manipulative prowess.
Personality: Ruyth is particularly wary, continually gauging those around him. Though cautious, he is careful to present himself to others as a benign, friendly person. While Ruyth’s motivation for using his abilities appears selfish, they are habits he relies on for self-protection, being physically unable to effectively protect himself. Despite this, he does have friends. Though most are superficially made as a result of his non-confrontational personality, a few have earned his true respect and love.
Ruyth’s ability to gauge people, their emotions, and their weaknesses makes establishing and maintaining an honest relationship difficult. While he would have a head start understanding the person and raising their affection, his reluctance to expose himself to potential pain would cripple the relationship.
Internally, his mood concerning his abilities fluctuates. At times, they are a blessing, having saved him from many potentially dangerous circumstances. The repercussions of those same abilities, however, have rendered him nearly incapable of having a normal, healthy, honest relationship. Sometimes, the trade doesn’t seem even.
Bio: Ruyth was a strange and delicate child, and was consequently disliked by most other boys his own age. While growing up in a stable family, the constant threat of dislike from his peers kept him on his guard. When the situation escalated into full on violent bullying, he began to hone his charm, so as to appeal to those who might protect him. Under the protection of his female peers, who were attracted to a delicate, sweet thing to care for, his human study began. Aided by his own innate abilities, he grew to notice the signs in his bullies which signaled emotional unrest, and used their weaknesses against them. As he grew older, he slowly gained the ability to influence their emotional state, further disrupting the balance if necessary in order to protect himself. For the duration of his academic career, Ruyth became known for his docile, easy-going personality, and was a favorite among teachers, friends, the opposite sex, and occasionally the same sex.
As an adult, he has based his career as a negotiations consultant from his unique skills. By working with law enforcement agencies, he has been able to disarm several potentially deadly situations.
Despite his charming nature, Ruyth lives privately, mostly associating with those close friends who, to some level, are able to accept the side of himself he will show no one else.
