What do we remember when we’re gone?… Do we remember the good or bad times? Maybe we think about what we could have done to prevent what had happened to us. well I know what I thought. Let me go back to the beginning. Before I died. I lived in a small city named Gea. It’s in a small country most in the world wouldn’t even know about. Normally you would go looking in the atlas searching for us, but we wont be there. My name is Desreptem. I was sixteen.
It was three months ago I just had gotten to school. I walked to my friends. Kissed my boyfriend like any normal day. When I got to first period Class went on as normal. Mr. Latult was teaching and no one was listening expect for the class geek Jenu. We all sat there passed notes, talking, and gossiping about the latest guess who did what. I am… well… was popular. The one everyone looks up to. To see weather or not its cool to hang with that girl or kissed that guy. You know what I mean. I went to the restroom. While I was in there the school put us on lock down but you couldn’t here anything from the restroom so I had no idea what was going on.
I fixed my long straight black hair and makeup that made my face look flawless. Checked my clothes to make sure I didn’t have to change for any reason. my normal clothes. Short skirt. A shirt that was so tight you could see every curve in my body and my high heals. I decided to lotion my legs. I had a high standard for how I looked. I walked out of the restroom. Everyone knows the schools bathrooms could use a good paint job. I flipped my hair while walking out. Just in chase anyone saw me could out. I heard something behind me. It sounded like a gun I got a chill up my back. My body tensed up. I turned around. Looked into the green eyes of a tall dark haired man. He was holding a gun. Pointing it straight at me. My eyes widened. My mouth opened. My heart started beating unbelievably fast. He looked at me with anger in his eyes. He stared at me for a moment more then told me “people like you should pay” and fired. That was it for me. Nothing special. I wasn’t kidnapped and they showed my picture on the news while my parents beg the kidnapper to let me go… nothing.
Moments later I found myself on this long street. I saw a red car. I thought quick and got out of the way. Another car a truck this time came at me on the other side of the road. I turned and looked but it had passed right through me. I was no longer a person. At that point I didn’t know what I was. I looked around and realized was right outside my school. I walked in. looked at the welcome sign. “welcome to Gea high school” and on the next line down “ home of the wolves.” written in our ugly school colors yellow and red. I looked around. No one in the hall. Still on lock down. I walked down the halls. I saw him. My killer. The cops creped up behind him and grabbed his gun. Put him in hand cuffs and lead him out the back of the school. I was to shocked at what had happened to me I wasn’t sure what to think of anything. The office made an announcement. Told everyone they were safe, but to keep the students in the class room and to not let them out yet. I stood there for a moment. I then thought about my body. What have they done with it?
I ran to right outside the restroom where I had been shot. I stopped just as I turned the corner where the restroom was. I stared at my body. There on the floor. Bleeding on the schools gray carpet. I fell to the floor. I didn’t take my eyes of my body. I had been shot in my forehead. The police blocked off the area where my body was.
The intercom came on. It was the principal. He asked all the students to go to the assembly room and the to take east hallway. My body was lying on the floor in the west hallway. I followed all the other students to the assembly room. The halls were packed but everyone walked through me as if… I wasn’t even there. All the students went straight to the assembly room. They sat down in the chairs. The assembly rooms chairs were always really comfortable. I always loved them. They were my favorite color. Blue. Everyone always fell asleep in them while the staff talked to us. I saw my friends and my boyfriend Sam all sit together in a big group. I sat In the back waiting for the staff to say something. “ as you all know the lock down we just had was not a drill.” the principal said then paused another moment before he continued. Everyone went quiet. “ how many of you know Desreptem Skelinton?” people started talking and shouting. Me being popular not all of the talk was good. “ yeah I know her! She’s my girl!” Sam shouted proudly. “ ok shhh…” the principal said. “ so most of you know her… I regret to say that she is no longer with us.” my best friend Asim shouted before anyone could start talking again. “ what do you mean she’s no longer with us?” all the kids look at Asim then back at the principal. “ what I am trying to tell you all is she’s… Desreptem Skelinton is dead.” Everyone started talking at once. I looked at my friends. Not one of them were talking. “ quiet down. I know this is a shock to you all.” the room went silent. “ we are going to keep you all in here the remainder of the day. If you need to talk to some one please come see me. But for now I would like to see Asim konin and Sam reel.” he said while pointing to them. Everyone else just stood up and started talking.
I ran to where Asim and Sam were going with the principal. I followed them into his private office. They sat down. He took a set across from them. I sat next to Sam even though I know that he couldn’t see me. “ first of all how are you two taking this?” I looked at them. Asim started crying. “ she was my best friend I just can’t believe it.” then put her hands over he face so they would see her makeup run. Then he look at Sam. “ Sam?” he said. Sam didn’t say a word. No crying. Nothing. He kept him eyes on the ground. I couldn’t take seeing them like this. I walked out of the room. I didn’t know what to do. I stood right outside of his office. I thought of my parents and my brother. I ran out of the school and to my house.
“ are they kids home school yet?” my dad asked my mom. “ David didn’t want to go today so I told him he could stay home, but just this once.” my mom replied while drying the dishes. Did they tell them yet? They couldn’t have. My dad ask if I was home yet. They told the students before telling my parents. I couldn’t believe they would do that. David walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. He went straight to the frig. No big shock. David ate every time he came down stairs, but yet he still managed to be as skinny as ever. He opened the frig and pulled out a soda. Then went over to the cabinet and grabbed some chips. The phone rang. David ran over to the phone. “ don’t answer it!” I shouted. I had forgotten that he couldn’t hear me. “Skelinton house.” he answered. I couldn’t hear what the person on the other line was saying or who it was. I stared at David. He took a sip of his soda. After listening for a moment he dropped his soda. My parents both turned around. He drpped the phone. “ what’s wrong with you?” my mother asked while David sunk to the floor leaning against the wall. “ Des is gone… she’s dead” my mother was in to much shock to say anything.
