Hola senors and senoritas! I'm Macks Slasher, formerly known as Max Slasher, and I'm the GPA's resident expert battler. :]
These are my war stories, good or bad. I will be posting the battles I win, along with the battles I lose. This first post is reserved for my teams, and will be edited from time to time with new moves, new items, and brand new teams. When I post a story, I will be as such:
Example: Rain Dance VS Chocolover
So, Team Name VS [Username].
Enjoy my battles! I'd also love to hear any critiques and suggestions you may have.
Rain Dance
Veggiemon (Ludicolo) (M) @ Damp Rock
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 232 HP / 60 Spd / 216 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Surf
- Rain Dance
Comments: Standard Ludicolo opener. With Damp Rock, my Rain lasts a solid 8 turns, which is enough for healing, or for my other Pokemon, to get their Water moves boosted. He's very annoying. Leech Seed to boost my healing with Rain Dish, Surf for STAB, and Substitute to avoid status. Thanks to my constant healing, I can expect to Substitute, then regain all the HP that I lost. I had considered using Leftovers in place of Damp Rock, for an even bigger HP boost at the end of each turn, but the extra turns of rain are too valuable to pass up.
Octomon (Tentacruel) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Sludge Bomb
- Surf
Comments: Used mostly to blow away any and all entry hazards on my side of the field. With the EV investment, he can survive both Physical and Special sides of Electric-type attacks, which he has done multiple times. (I only saved one log sadly, because I battled four times before learning how to do that...) Slap down a few layers of Toxic Spikes if I feel safe after. Spinning and Spiking are the priorities here. Liquid Ooze is handy against all the people who think using Leech moves (ie: Leech Seed, mainly) are a good idea. Sludge Bomb and Surf are for STAB, the latter of which gets boosted while it's raining.
Seahomon (Kingdra) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 232 Spd / 24 SAtk
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Draco Meteor
Comments: You're probably thinking "What the hell is Draco Meteor, a Special move, doing on an Adamant Kingdra?" I'll explain: should I come into contact with a Physical wall, I have that Special move to take care of the situation. After one Dragon Dance, I outrun literally everything (as long as it's raining) and Outrage+Waterfall can easily trash anything that comes in my way. Dragon/Water hits almost everything for neutral damage, being resisted only by most Steel-types. With only one weakness, Kingdra is a handy, handy Pokemon to have.
Magnemon (Magnezone) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 40 Atk / 216 Spd / 252 SAtk
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Thunder
- Substitute
- Explosion
- Magnet Rise
Comments: Thanks to Rain Dance, Thunder has 100% accuracy, and a chance to break through Protect/Detect. Explosion is one of his most powerful choices, especially when I have to face down a Blissey or another Special sponge. He's capable of taking a hit, and blowing up on them. Magnet Rise when I feel safe enough to do so to avoid Earthquakes. Sub to hide behind and just spam Thunder. Pretty simple strategy here.
Pengumon (Empoleon) (M) @ Petaya Berry
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP / 12 Def / 232 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Substitute
- Surf
- Ice Beam
Comments: Empoleon is an extremely sturdy Pokemon. After one Agility, he can outrun a lot of the game, and slam everything with a Surf. Substitute down until I get the Petaya boost (which, coincidentally is also activating Torrent) and then utterly destroy everything in his path with Surf and Ice Beam. Despite Water/Ice being one of the worst typings on a Pokemon, it is one of the best attacking combinations. Few Pokemon can manage to survive a Petaya+Torrent+STAB+Rain boosted Surf, even if they are resistant.
Rotom-W @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Dark Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder
- Shadow Ball
Comments: One of the best Spin blockers in the game. Hydro Pump gets boosted in the rain, and can nearly one shot everything in his path. Thunder and Shadow Ball for STAB (and 100% accuracy in rain). He avoids Earthquakes and is very easy to switch in, and can handle a few heavy hitting threats. Specs may hinder his choice of moves, but most counters to Rotom can be handled by Empoleon or Kingdra.
