Moonstruck Island

User Image

--------------------------------------------------------

Legend has it that the moon possesses mysterious powers, or that's what they say and that's what the Moonshine Deer believe.

From time to time, during a Full or New Moon, wayward flames find themselves out in unfamiliar lands. Confused and lost, these flames are very dangerous things! They will often set aflame anything and everything around them as cries of help in hopes to find someone to guide them home. Once saved young flames are loyal and obedient souls to whoever is their savior.

The meeting between these wayward flames and their soulbound partners are often short, but sweet. Soon after rescue, the young flame will find its way back to its home on Moonstruck Island and, over time, will grow up to become a magnificent Moonshine Deer.

Druids of the island, Moonshine Deer see it as their duty to protect and cherish the land they roam.

For centuries, the Moonshine Deer have grown, evolved, and learned from the land. With the teaching and guidance of the Elders, those of whom are closest to the Goddess Luna, the Moonshine Deer have learned to live of and love their land. Though, just as the moon is on an endless journey across the sky, the Moonshine Deer have an insatiable need to always be on the move. Never wanting to be in the same place for a prolong period of time, these deer have been known to sometimes even abandon their young if it is unwilling to follow. Luckily, this doesn’t happen too often and the child will grow up with the protection of at least one guardian.

To some, their travels may seem aimless, but they know exactly where they are, where they've been, and where they're going. Moonshine Deer have been known to travel in small groups of 3-5 called tribes. However, it’s not been unheard of for some deer to roam alone and for others to travel in much larger groups. Every tribe is different each with their own culture, rules, followings, structure or hierarchy, and beliefs. Though most deer will generally try to stick to just one tribe, some may have affiliations with multiple tribes. It is best for young stags and does to learn as much as they can about each tribe before deciding on which one, or ones, to follow.

Love is not lost amongst their numbers, and with the power of light comes new life.

Moonshine Deer who travel together will build strong bonds with one another. It is quite common for some of the individuals in a tribe to grow so fond of one another that they feel the need to create new life. Moonshine Deer cannot create new life on their own however. They will need help from their Goddess Luna and a good strong host for the flame, kindle. To obtain kindle, Moonshine deer will need to travel to the Luna Ruins and go before the Counsel of Elders. The journey to Luna Ruins is a long and treacherous one; the journey itself could test the love and devotion the deer have for one another. If the deer are lucky enough to make it to the ruins together, the Counsel will then call upon the wisdom of the Goddess Luna to see if they are compatible. If she deems them so, up to 3 batches of kindle will be granted to the lucky deer.

Kindle can only be lit no more than 3 days before a Full or New Moon, and cannot be lit on the day of. Kindle also must be brought back to the homeland, Flame Runner Forest, to be lit. The Flame Runner Forest is a special forest that is always on fire, but the flames will not harm the deer. This forest is also the only place where young flames can be raised. Leaving the forest with a flame that has not matured to be at least a fawn may have dire consequences!

With the guidance of the Goddess Luna, the Elders keep order throughout the land.

The Moonshine Deer are unable to see their Goddess Luna nor speak with her, but they know that she exists and that have experienced her influences on the land. To communicate between Goddess and Deer are the Elders.

The Elders were the first group of deer to have been blessed by the moon. As a result, they are all also soulbound to the Goddess Luna and are thus able to communicate with her directly. As she does not have any physical form or voice to communicate with the rest of the deer, she has the Elders act as her proxy. Whenever there is a problem that cannot be resolved through normal means, an Elder is sure to appear to help resolve the issue.

The Goddess Luna dearly loves her deer, and will often grant them treasures and blessings. During these situations, the Elders will make sure that her gifts make it to worthy individuals. She is a kind and loving Goddess who only hopes to help her deer whenever she is needed.

Soulbound for life.

Their Goddess guides them, their Elders counsel them, their tribe supports them, their families love them, and you play them. Have fun, enjoy, and thank you!

The Moon and The Deer

Moonshine Deer are special deer blessed, or cursed, with active flames obtained from the moon. The coat color of the deer depends on the phase of the moon, but the flame color is uncontrolled by outside factors. If you obtain a flame and decide to RP with it, the color of its flame may even change over time!

Full Moon Deer
Full Moon Deer only appear during the time of a full moon. Their coat colors usually range between whites, reds, oranges, and yellows.

New Moon Deer
New Moon Deer only appear during the time of a new moon. Their coat colors usually range between blacks, greens, blues, and purples.

Eclipse Deer
During the time of Lunar and Solar Eclipses, a special flame often appears. These flames carry Eclipse Deer with coats of the color their owner wishes for them to possess. However, Solar Eclipse Deer are limited to the colors of the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse Deer are limited to the colors of the New Moon. Although, there are rare cases where there is a Solar Eclipse during the time of a New Moon or a Lunar Eclipse during the time of a Full Moon, and deer born during those times possess the ability to obtain any color they wish.

Partial Eclipses allow the owner to pick the colors of the coat and flames.

Total Eclipses allow the owner to pick the colors and designs.

Blue Moon Deer
On very rare occasions there are Blue Moons. Blue Moons are when there are two Full Moons or New Moons in one month. During those times, twins will be born. They will not appear together in the same place however.

Just because there is a Full Moon or New Moon does not mean a Moonshine Deer will be born.

Moonshine Deer are born from flames. Flames are found in the ashes of shops that have recently been set on fire. Flames also can only be found by the person who put out the fire and are soulbound to that person. Fawns are often born from the flames 5-7 days after they have been discovered.

Moonshine Fawns are shy and gentle creatures. Their flames are warm and calm. At this stage, Moonshine Deer are easily influenced by their surroundings. It is during these times when the color of their flames can change. Moonshine Fawns generally take 9-12 days to fully mature into Stags.

Adult Moonshine Deer are strong, majestic creatures, unaffected by outside influences. Their flames are as bright and wild as they are. Moonshine Deer are immortal and, upon reaching full maturation, will stay in this stage for the rest of their lives.
