What the #$*! is a hangman?
my my.. you've never played hangman? what a sad childhood you must've had.. xd
Hangman is a guessing game. One player thinks of a word and the other tries to guess it by suggesting letters.
The word to guess is represented by a row of dashes, giving the number of letters. If the guessing player suggests a letter which occurs in the word, the other player writes it in all its correct positions. If the suggested letter does not occur in the word, the other player draws one element of the hangman diagram. The game is over when the guessing player completes the word (guesses the whole word correctly), or runs out of guesses.
Isn't it a two player game? there's so many of us..
Hangman is meant to be a two player game, but thats why its called Hangman Tourney! Once everyone signs up, you'll be randomly selected an opponent. The two of you will battle it out.. with the winner moving on the the next round and the loser.. well.. losing.
Do we get to make up words for our opponents?
Words will actually be chosen by myself, Sharon and Christina. The only thing you'll have to worry about is guessing the word before your opponent does. We will ref the tourney as well as make the changes to the words and your respective hangman once a letter is correctly or incorrectly guessed. More details will become available in a following thread which will also have a short example of how the game is to be played.

This is just a sign up sheet, another thread will follow with rules and matchups once enough interest is shown.
What's it going to cost me?
This has yet to be decided.. depending on the number of people playing, we can all try to agree on a small entrace fee to put into a pot with the winnings going to the grand Hangman Tourney winner, and perhaps a percentage of it going to 2nd and 3rd. I will also provide an uber cool AS Hangman Tourney Champ badge for the winner so he/she can have some bragging rights.. xd
That's all I can think of right now.. if there's any questions about anything I haven't covered, post here and I'll try to answer as best I can. Hopefully this will be the first of many contests to come.. 3nodding

The winners of each match will face off the other winner in their respective pool. The winners of their pool will play a round robin game of hangman against the other finalists. The person with the best win record will win the tourney. Good luck to all!

Just two things to bring to your attention.
Due to rice's internet problems, he has to unfortunately, withdraw from the tourney. Kat will be taking his place and going up against Lin.
The second thing I'd like to run by everyone is the entry fee. Everyone enter 200 gold and the profits will be divided between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
The division I had mind, if we do the math here:
Of the 2600:
1st = 1500
2nd = 750
3rd = 350
So if you won in your pool, you're pretty much guaranteed a piece of the pot. xd

The Semi Final Matchups have been posted. Good luck to all the contestants. The winners of each Pool will advance to the finals with each Finalist going up against the other. So each finalist will play two matches simultaneously.
ex:
Final Matchups:
Player A vs Player B
Player A vs Player C
Player B vs Player C
The player with the best record after these 3 matches will determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
In a tie situation, the player that had the least strikes against them will determine their standings. In other words, the person with the least wrong guesses wins.
