Of saddles and shootouts. I know there's already a Western out here. This one has a little bit more of a structured plot, and everyone's just plain human. This is an idea I've been dying to do for a while, so let's see how it goes.LAWS OF THE LANDo1. Send your profiles to me in a PM. I don't care what the title of the PM is, just make sure I know the profile is for this roleplay.
o2. People will die in this roleplay. The plot I've come up with is made to facilitate jealousy, corruption, all that jazz. So if you think someone should be killed, get it okayed with me and okayed with that character's player, and then go crazy! (Seriously, I want to see some deaths.)
o3. Because people may die, you can have as many characters as you'd like -- just make sure you can keep up with them all.
o4. The names given in the plot may be changed. They're just there to make the plot a little easier to read. If you'd like to keep the character names I've suggested, feel free; but if you don't like them, feel free to pick something else. PLOT AGAIN, NAMES ARE NOT SET IN STONE. I threw names in to make the plot a little easier to explain. When I get a profile for each role, I'll change the names.
Russell and John Boothe are brothers who own a highly successful oil company on the mighty plains of Texas. John's daughter Charlotte is the prettiest little belle you've ever seen. She's poised and proper, would never dare to ride anything but sidesaddle, and is horrified at the idea of spitting or smoking. When Barrett Nelson and his gang show up in town, Sheriff Bill Jackson has a lot to handle.
Barrett wants the brothers' oil, and Russell is all set to give him half in exchange for his own life, but John, always noble, refuses. Barrett kidnaps Charlotte and holds her for ransom. Charlotte is quite taken with the rugged outlaw, but doesn't notice that Barrett's right-hand man Charlie is just as taken with her. Charlie, likewise, doesn't seem to notice the advances of saloon-girl Annie. Charlie begins to plan how to kill Barrett in an attempt to gain the attention and affection of Charlotte. CHARACTER LISTName -- description -- player
]Russell Boothe -- the corruptible, older Boothe brother John Boothe -- the honorable, younger Boothe brother Charlotte Boothe -- the prim and proper daugther of John Boothe -- poke the princess Bill Jackson -- the sherriff Barrett Nelson -- head of the outlaw gang Charlie Gunn -- Barrett's right-hand man -- Cathartic Denouement Annie -- a saloon girl hopelessly devoted to Charlie
If you'd like to add in your own role to the story, feel free to do so. The plot sounds mildly specific, but there's always room to adapt to new characters!

PROFILES Pictures are not required. If you choose to use a picture, NO ANIME. This is, after all, a Western. Keep it in the spirit of the Ol' West. They call me CHARACTER NAME. I'm a COWBOY/COWGIRL -- yeehaw! I've got AGE years under my belt, but who's counting? I'm a/an/the OIL BARON/OUTLAW/SALOON GIRL/DAMSEL IN DISTRESS/SHERRIFF. (Sheriff only) I'm COMPLETELY CORRUPT/TOTALLY HONEST/MORALLY GREY. (Outlaw only) I'm the LEADER OF THE PACK/SECOND IN COMMAND/BOTTOM OF THE BARELL. When I look in the mirror I see DESCRIPTION OF HAIR hair and a pair of COLOR eyes looking back at me. When I look back on my life, I remember CHARACTER BIO (brief) My heart beats only for LOVE INTEREST. (if applicable; put name in all caps if the character hasn't been taken yet) I only answer to one person, and that's GAIA USERNAME. They call me Charlie Gunn. I'm a cowboy -- yeehaw! I've got 28 years under my belt, but who's counting? I'm an outlaw. I'm the second in command. When I look in the mirror I see short brown hair and a pair of blue eyes looking back at me. When I look back on my life, I remember always livin' in Texas. I'm a Texan through and through, and there ain't nothin' gonna change that. I got mixed up in a saloon brawl one day, and since then I've been on the wrong side of the law. But you ain't gonna hear me complainin' -- it's a lot more fun this way. My heart beats only for Charlotte Boothe. I only answer to one person, and that's Cathartic Denouement.
They call me Miss Charlotte Boothe.
I'm a cowgirl -- yeehaw!
I've got 19 years under my belt, but who's counting?
I'm the damsel in distress.
When I look in the mirror I see silky blonde hair and a pair of sky blue eyes looking back at me.
When I look back on my life, I remember spending lots of time with my father. Though I haven't even thought of the idea of adapting any of his habits. I am a lady, and I expect to be treated like a lady. I rather like shopping for new dresses, but I also like to sew.
My heart beats only for BARRETT NELSON.
I only answer to one person, and that's poke the princess.

Ȼ Ȟ Λ Я Ƚ Ȋ Σ • Ģ Ʉ Ӥ Ӥ The sleepy town of Eldorado was spread out across the Texan plains several meters below the ridge where Charlie sat on his horse. He glanced over his shoulder. The rest of the gang was piddling around, some of them poking at small campfires, others tending to their own horses. Charlie frowned at them; they had been told no fires. They had been told they'd be moving out shortly.
He swung his leg over the horse and dismounted, striding toward one of the small campfires.
"What were y'all told? No fires. We're movin' out," he snapped. He kicked at the fire, scattering tinder and ash at the outlaws seated beside it. "Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough," he went on when they didn't move. "That means git off yer asses and git on the horses. If y'all want t' eat t'night, yeh'd best hurry up."
There was a flurry of motion. Charlie's authority went without question, almost as though he was the leader of their posse. And he was for the moment -- Barrett had already gone into town, leaving the gang under Charlie's rule.
Still scowling, Charlie turned back to his horse, put his foot back in the stirrup, and swung himself back up into the saddle.
"Charlie, we comin' back to camp here tonight?"
"I already told ya -- boss said we're stayin' in town. Says he's got a nice place right near the bar fer all y'all. Now stop askin' stupid questions, git on the horse, and git ready t' ride."
Once the gang had gathered their few belongings and mounted their horses, Charlie wheeled his own horse around and spurred it into motion, galloping down the ridge and toward the town. He really couldn't have cared less if the rest of the posse followed; he'd catch hell from the boss if any of them disappeared without a reasonable cause, but it would be easy enough to explain any missing gang members by saying they had been plotting a mutiny.
Arriving at the edge of town, Charlie reined in his horse and dismounted before the animal had come to a complete stop. The rest of the gang rode up behind him and skidded to a halt, kicking up a cloud of dust. Charlie led his horse to a hitching post outside the saloon and tied its reins. He looked up to see a pretty blonde girl standing there with a box under her arm.
He raised a hand and touched the brim of his hat. "Afternoon, ma'am," he said, flashng her a crooked grin.

Charlotte Charlotte smiled politely, but purely to be a polite lady. She didn't like the looks of the raggedy man. He looked like someone her father would warn her about not talking to, so after she had given her fake smile, she turned her nose to the air and closed her eyes so that he might see that she didn't really think that he was worth her valuable time.
She opened her eyes a peak, though; and decided that he looked like a bum. He would probably want some drinking money, so she began to reach into her purse for some money to give him. She may not condone in drinking, but she hated the thought of some poor man wandering around begging for money. He would probably get himself shot.

"Don't say much, do ya?" he asked, leaning forward on the railing of the saloon's porch, still grinning at her.
She didn't quite look uncomfortable -- that wasn't the word. There was a certain air of disdain about her, though; she obviously didn't approve of him.
"I may not look it, but I clean up good," he said. He shrugged. "Least, that's what they tell me."
"Hey, Charlie, where's th' boss?"
The grin dropped as he looked back over his shoulder at one of the men behind him. "An' how in the hell am I s'posed t' know that?" He reached onto his belt and untied a coin purse, tossing it at the man who had spoken. "Here, go 'n' git somethin' t' drink an' try not t' draw too much attention to yerselves."
The gang dispersed, a handful of them staying in the street to tend to the horses that couldn't be tied up. Some of them took long swigs from the canteens at their hips and elbowed each other in the ribs, nodding appreciatively at the girl.
"Don't mind them, miss," he said, turning back to her. "They're a little rough 'round the edges, but they're nice fellas. They don't mean no harm." He glanced back over his shoulder again and shouted something incoherent to the men, some of whom shuffled away, leading the horses with them down the street. "So," he said, looking back at her again. "Have ya got a name, missy?"

Charlotte Charlotte narrowed her eyes at his foul language, but she held her tongue, as she knew she shoudl do.
"Ms. Boothe. Charlotte Boothe," she said coolly, avoiding eye contact at first, but then glared over her shoulder at the men he had told to keep a low profile.
"What are your friends up to that they need to be so careful about?" she asked sharply, half ready to run the the sheriff's and tell him about the suspicious activity.
But instead she looked the man up and down with a bitter look, and said "I'm sure you do clean up nicely for the standards of those hooligans you run with" her voice was unnecessarily unkind, but her pretty face stayed soft.

"It certainly is a pleasure, Miss Charlotte," he said, touching the brim of his hat again. "The name's Charlie Gunn. Don't you worry yer little head 'bout them. Me 'n' the boys're just passin' through on our way up t' Oneida. S'posed t' be catchin' a train from there out t' California in a week or so."
He glanced over his shoulder at the men as he heard them begin shouting at each other incoherently. A fistfight had broken out among them. He shrugged and turned back to the girl. As long as no guns were drawn out, everything would be fine. What did he care if they ended up with a few scrapes or a black eye?
"They really ain't so bad," he said. "An' we ain't up to nothin', just passin' through, like I said. We've been through enough towns like this 'un t' know that outsiders like us ain't always welcome. Just don't want 'em gettin' into any unnecessary trouble with yer sheriff, y' understand."
