I never allow myself to get drunk. Tipsy, sure. And I do an impression of being drunk that often leaves people rolling on the floor. ninja Nevertheless, I'm a religious woman, and as I'm also headstrong, I've never liked the idea of losing one's self-control in a cup.

It's hilarious, however, to see others drunk. xd Or at least SOME kinds of others. sweatdrop

Of course, until I turned fourteen, I only had knowledge of the 'good' kind of drunk, in the case of my uncles. The best 'drunk uncle' out of the group is a biker (authentic, not a 'RUB' . . . used to be tied up in Bronx-based gang activity and everything ninja ) turned mechanic. Where once he was utterly self-destructive, he is content now in his old age to simply be good-hearted and strong and strange.

When my uncle is drunk, he is hyper and often talks about things from the middle (it will take you a paragraph or two before you can figure out what the topic of his discussion is, only to find that he's trying to explain to you the voice that a pair of scissors should have, as well as it's chances of having a successful singing career o.o; ). He can still salsa, but with a comical wobble. He'll tell you reams of corny jokes and oddly enough, he mixes drinks better when drunk than when not. eek

Friends of the family whom I met while drunk ranged anywhere from the happy drunk, to the quiet drunk, to the poetic drunk, to the depressed drunk, to the angry drunk who would argue loudly about some political or social topic or another for almost a half an hour, and then completely forget what it was he was talking about two seconds later when someone attempted to answer his debate. rofl

When I entered high school, however, I started meeting different kinds of drunks (i.e. the bad ones). There seemed to be no end of rude, slobbering jocks, who liked nothing better than to shove their faces as close to your nose as possible, spew the most perverted and sick-minded suggestions at you, and then puke all over your jeans. After pausing for effect, these charming young fellows would proceed to enter into a house-wide fist fight with their best friend over the subject of who was going to rape you. o_O

When we attempted to lift the ban on non-family members heavily drinking at our house, it was with a group of my little sister's friends. They seemed like perfectly level-headed, eighteen-to-twentyish-year-olds, and since there was a birthday among them, my family thought there was no harm in it.

By three a.m. in the morning, however, one of them was threatening to kill her boyfriend, while two others sat at my mother's glass table, banging their fists upon it, yelling at the top of their lungs and cursing the name of God. Upon asking them to leave, they began shouting and cursing at my mother, and it took both my brothers and I to throw them from the house bodily and the threat of police involvement to get rid of them. stare stressed

And who hasn't heard of actually violent drunks, the ones who wind up groggy in a ditch somewhere being sought for murder or child abuse charges once they sober up?

Unfortunately, the amount of people who don't know how to act when they're drunk seems to be more numerous than those who do. ._.;

So my questions to the guild at large are as follows:

Are you generally in favor of, or against, getting drunk?
What kind of drunk are you?
What sort of drunk do you prefer to be around, when drunk and when sober?
Has anyone had any sort of personal experience with drunkards that have impacted them heavily, whether positively or negatively?

Are you generally in favor of, or against, getting drunk?

All in favour, though not as a habit..

What kind of drunk are you?

Wobbly. Earnest.

What sort of drunk do you prefer to be around, when drunk and when sober?

Drunk? Chummy ones and beautiful ones. Sober? The same!

Has anyone had any sort of personal experience with drunkards that have impacted them heavily, whether positively or negatively?

Not really, but the path toward my present relationship was sparked bya slightly embarassing drunkem act on my part.

Are you generally in favor of, or against, getting drunk?
I'm all for it.

What kind of drunk are you?
Usually a happy drunk, but seeing as I am currently thousands of miles away from everything and everyone I know and love, especially my girlfriend, I have recently become a sad drunk, especially while listening to Within a Mile of Home, by Flogging Molly. I also notice that I'm not in the mood to drink until I am in my duly christened drinking clothes - some ugly olive green jacket I own, a black t-shirt with the middle finger on it, and black jeans bloused into Army paratrooper boots, which have become my duty boots. These are the same clothes I used to wear to school every day, doing laundry every night. School was actually the first place I would get drunk at on a daily basis. One might say I'm a drunk of habit, I guess.

What sort of drunk do you prefer to be around, when drunk and when sober?
I'm never around drunks when sober. I'm the drunk people are around when they're sober.
I prefer the happy drunks that my drinking buddies, past and present, have been. We're very content to get hammered, have what we believe an intellectual discussion about nothing important, listen to good Irish drinking music and do a lot of singing along with, as well as the whole back thumping stuff.

Has anyone had any sort of personal experience with drunkards that have impacted them heavily, whether positively or negatively?
My grandfather was a functional alcoholic, although I could never tell when he was drunk or sober. Mom could, though, because she grew up with him, and she hated it. I always saw him as Grumps, my grumpy grandfather, not a drunk or sober Grumps.

Just for future reference, because I know you're all thinking it, I'm not an alcoholic. Alcoholics go to meetings.

blaugh Heh! Didn't know anyone else had preferred drinking clothes!

For some reason, I prefer to go shoeless when I drink (or really bootless, since I always wear boots). Usually it's my patchwork carpenter's jeans, and the long, impossibly ripped, rainforest green 'Tiki Warrior' T-shirt (unless it's winter -- then it's the huge, warm, black turtleneck fleece). Then I top it off with fuzzy toe socks -- although if I can pair this with geta, whether the high kind or the low, it makes me happier for some reason.

Are you generally in favor of, or against, getting drunk?

In favor of!

What kind of drunk are you?

Generally happy and energetic. Occasionally angry, but I tend to be happy and angry at the same time...if that makes any sense.

What sort of drunk do you prefer to be around, when drunk and when sober?

When drunk...Damn near anyone. When sober...None. Anyone who drinks often will understand why.

Has anyone had any sort of personal experience with drunkards that have impacted them heavily, whether positively or negatively?

I've been around drunks for at least the past four years. I'm one of those kids who goes to see bands play multiple times a week. It's part of my culture.

What kind of drunk are you?

I only get tipsy, never really drunk

What sort of drunk do you prefer to be around, when drunk and when sober?

Silly drunks

Oh hell yeah. I know a drunk who will yell at you, and tell you how your the absolute worse person and your life will never amount to anything and then not remeber anything the next morning. He never understands why I'm mad at him the next day. stare

About a month ago, there was a drunk girl. She told me -with absolute hate in her eyes - that I only cared about myself, had no soul, would die alone, go to hell, and that I thought it was funny that her sister had died.

Well written, and now for my answers. ^^

Are you generally in favor of, or against, getting drunk?
Yes, im in favour of it, until its a case of being "blindly" drunk. When you cant remember anything, but i cant exactly deny thats happened to me, because it has. I just didnt mean it too. i spent too much money, drank the wrong things, ended up waking up not knowing anything. neutral

I dont like the idea of not knowing what you do when your blind drunk. because it usually ends up with you doing something you would NEVER do sober. For example, ending up in bed with a guy you told you didnt like the day before, or smashing a neighbours car up that you had an argument with over a stolen pencil.
I've never gotten that bad mind. but i did once get dumped because the guy i was with ended up taking advantage of me while i was in pass out stage and made out with me. So my X was told stare

What kind of drunk are you?
I my friend, have always been a happy drunk. I used to want to get drunk just so i could have more confidence, because i used to be very shy sober, but not shy drunk.

But recently i just do it to get more chatty, and have an awesome time, in which i do! theres only been 2 times when ive been a depressed drunk, but thats because something silly would trigger me and i would break down ifront of my friends. which is a shame. but at least it doesn't happen often.

And ive never been the angry drunk. ive gotten jelous and had those angry thoughts! but it usually ends up with me walkin off mardy and
dissapearing into the night to walk home drunkenly talking to myself in the early hours of wednesday mornings.

What sort of drunk do you prefer to be around, when drunk and when sober?
Well, i certainly wouldnt like to be around the Angry, or depressed drunks. but sometimes it cant be avoided.

It was only this last Tuesday night my X boyfriend was threatening to kill Dave, my new boyfriend. Obviously jelousy, but my X would NEVER be that angry and jelous if he was sober.

I prefer to be around the happy drunks like me. The type of people that will go a little louder and happier and giddy. Those that just want to move about and have fun or maybe find somebody to huggle upto and kiss for the night. Whatever follows is upto them, as long as theyre gonna remember! and i have Dave for that. heh ninja

Has anyone had any sort of personal experience with drunkards that have impacted them heavily, whether positively or negatively?
Well, i have already mentioned the one with my X last week! and i suppose i could think of many other experiences on my Tuesday nights out round town. but i think i've said way too much on each question as it is. sorry sweatdrop

ill leave it there. enjoy your read
