I have wasted the majority of my time lost in Fire Emblem series. I loved every minute!
The attention to the story and interactions between characters; along with still frames of wonderful artwork only want me to play the games over again. Not only a tactics game, as the player you are driven by the storyline.
Another aspect is there a support system. Some characters are given power boosts if they near a certain character. If you leave them for a turn, standing next to each other, after a time you get to read a conversation. Some are just plan hilarious as you watch a friendship start to form or what I like to read is the more romantic conversations.
One aspect that certainly puts it aside from other games is that the characters you move are more human. What I mean is if one of them is killed off, they stay that way. You are not allowed to use them for the rest of the game. Which brings another level of difficulty. If a character that dies earlier in the game has to talk to another character to later in the game then you just didn't lose just one, you lost two. I can't how many times I had to start a part over just so I wouldn't lose one character.
So anyone else?
