The Resistance is based on 1984 by George Orwell, right? (i know, we've been over this) Well, I'm reading it, and i flipped out when i read 'Thought Police' and started singing in the middle of the bookstore.
The guy who was selling it to me told me that i should really reconsider reading it, because it's violent and eyeopening, and conspiratorial and i probably wasn't going to be able to understand it and whatnot.
i glared profusely and told him i was going to have to read it eventually so why not now, and that censorship was against code.
He shut up.
i saw the same guy while buying some comic books (XD) and told him that Big Brother is the internet, and we're all gonna succumb to it by way of stalkers, ***** and identity thefts, and it'll be a real life 1984 PLUS Animal Farm because Communism will become a religion, and that's what's gonna happen in 2012. (most of that was a load of bull on my part, just to bother him, but still...i see where Matty's coming from)

You should have mentioned advanced cybernetics.

That one day, they wont need to worry about crimestop for their thoughtcrimes, or 2+2=5, because one day, we'll just be a bunch of mindless zombies, programmed like robots with their electronic implants, where they beam adverts into our minds.

...but then, if such a world existed, and it arrived at the point where we weren't really conscious anymore...would there be any point in deceiving us?

I suppose it'd benefit them, use us as slaves or something, and make us do the hard work. Maybe. cool

I read it yearsss ago and was excited when Muse wrote
songs about it. I actually thought "Futurism" was about 1984.

it was funny, because he ruined it for me by telling me everything (or so he thought) but he told me the completely wrong summary.

Oh I do, and you must.
It's terrific.
And as per my adventures...I started alphabetizing the comic books, because it was bothering me how they were all out of order, and this group of little kids comes up, and can't find what they want (not book wise, but the whole 'you know the one with the guy who shoots lasers from his eyes?' debate where they don't know what they're talking about?) so I'm sitting there, recommending comics to them.

Pfft! I work in a bookstore.. I am always recommending really odd Muse-ish books to people who show interest. Actually, as employees we have little employee pick signs around the store.. I have one for 1984. Before The Resistance, I'd read 1984 because I really liked reading Animal Farm in high school. I fell in love with the book. And well, The Resistance fuels the obsession.

I wish I had read it before The Resistance came out...I was actually planning to, but then the album kicked the need into overdrive XD

I go through book phases.. I mostly read young adult and urban fantasy but I got into a weird kick of devouring a bunch of science books lately, particularly dealing with quantum physics. I highly recommend picking up anything by Michio Kaku, his books are fantastic. Then I was reading (gasp!) some romance books.. so unlike me, then it was back to some young adult books, then into science fiction. Now I'm leaning towards classic literature like Ray Bradbury and metaphysics books dealing with alien interaction on our planet, particularly early man and their influence on us.

After that there's a few local history books I want to pick up and read.. I just recently found out that pirates had a very strong foothold in New Jersey.. I mean, I know how much they were around in the Florida Keys (I grew up in Pennsylvania and Key West, FL) But New Jersey? Doesn't seem likely does it?

I'm rambling... ninja

NJ PIRATES?
Maybe they'll attack Snooki, thinking her poof is some priceless animal one could potentially domesticate and sell. And we will be brought to shame no longer.
