Now, because a lot of my characters either are or have daily dealings with Dragons, I thought this thread might come in handy to explain the different sub-species of Dragons that I use in Role-Play. Most of the ones I add will be ones that I have created myself. If you have your own made-up Dragon species, or think of a standard one I forgot, add it here following the profile set up below. For the rarity index, it is scaled the same way as the Pokemon games, with Common meaning there are tons, Uncommon meaning they're a little harder to find, Rare stating that they don't appear too terribly often, and Legendary meaning there are never more than about 20 tops alive at any given time and usually only 1 or 2. Also, please only do one sub-type per post.Dagon Name: Example (if you have a character of this type in the profile listings): Rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary): Scale Colour: Eye Colour: Egg Colour: Breathes (fire, ice, nothing, ect.): Maximum Known Age: Maximum Length: Max. Height: Max. Weight: Max Wingspan: Time to Maturity: No. Eggs in a Clutch: General I.Q. (how smart, on average, are the members of this sub-type?): Does it Bond to a Rider? (Yes, No, Sometimes, Rarely, ect.): Any other relevant facts:

Dagon Name: Drake Example: Drake Rarity: Legendary Scale Colour: Red Eye Colour: Gold Egg Colour: Red with gold vein patterns Breathes: Fire Maximum Known Age: 10,000 Maximum Length: About 40km from nose to tail Max. Height: Around 5stories at the shoulder Max. Weight: 10tonnes Max Wingspan: 10km Time to Maturity: 5000yrs No. Eggs in a Clutch: 1-4 General I.Q.: Low-Average Does it Bond to a Rider?: Usually Any other relevant facts: Drakes only hatch out once every 1000 years. When they Bond it is usually to a member of the Royal family or one destined to advance far in the ranks of the Riders. They are one of the most common types of the "Legendary" Dragons because they hatch out so frequently. It is said that those blessed with being the Imprinted and/or Bonded of a Drake will be lucky in life. Usually, the members of this sub-species prefer to be called Drake if they are male.

Dagon Name: Nightmare Example (if you have a character of this type in the profile listings): Shade Rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary): Uncommon Scale Colour: Black Eye Colour: Red Egg Colour: Black Breathes (fire, ice, nothing, ect.): invisible toxic gas Maximum Known Age: 70,000 Maximum Length: aprox. 39km from nose to tail Max. Height: aprox. 3.5stories at shoulder Max. Weight: 8.5tonnes Max Wingspan: 9.5km Time to Maturity: 9000yrs No. Eggs in a Clutch: 10-20 General I.Q. (how smart, on average, are the members of this sub-type?): Average-Genious Does it Bond to a Rider? (Yes, No, Sometimes, Rarely, ect.): Sometimes Any other relevant facts: Because of their colouring, Nightmares are oftentimes mistaken for Rogues. In fact, most Nightmares ARE Rogues. Nightmares, along with Dreams, are one of the easiest types of Dragon to change to a Bone. They usually have rather sour dispositions and hate dealing with idiots. Though they lay several eggs in a single clutch, usually less than half of them hatch.

Dagon Name: Dream Example (if you have a character of this type in the profile listings): Casper Rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary): Uncommon Scale Colour: White Eye Colour: Pale blue Egg Colour: White Breathes (fire, ice, nothing, ect.): Peace & hope Maximum Known Age: 70,000 Maximum Length: aprox. (Yes, No, Sometimes, Rarely, ect.): Yes Any other relevant facts: Dream Dragons are one of the sweetest types of Dragon. Like the Nightmares, who are their opposites, only about half of their eggs per clutch will hatch. They are also an easy way of creating a Bone Dragon. Dreams have kind dispositions and usually abhorr fighting, though they will do anything to protect their Bonded.

Dagon Name: Nevermore Rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary): Rare Scale Colour: Grey Eye Colour: Grey Egg Colour: Grey with darker grey swirls Breathes (fire, ice, nothing, ect.): Fear Maximum Known Age: Unkown Maximum Length: aprox. Unkown Max. Height: Unkown Max. Weight: Unkown Max Wingspan: Unkown Time to Maturity: Unkown No. Eggs in a Clutch: Unkown General I.Q. (how smart, on average, are the members of this sub-type?): Unkown Does it Bond to a Rider? (Yes, No, Sometimes, Rarely, ect.): Rarely Any other relevant facts: The first Nevermore resulted from the mating of a Dream and a Nightmare whose Riders were married. Not much is known about these Dragons because all of the Mayan people avoid them at all costs. It is said that to Imprint or Bond to one is to lose a part of your soul, and they are considered the harbringers of death. Because of their ability to breathe fear, they are the reason the Mayan people shun the colour grey as the symbol of the end of all time.

Dagon Name: Bone Rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary): Legendary Scale Colour: None, they are "living" skeletons. Eye Colour: None Egg Colour: None Breathes (fire, ice, nothing, ect.): Nothing Maximum Known Age: Unkown Maximum Length: 100km Max. Height: 25stories Max. Weight: 10tonnes Max Wingspan: 50km Time to Maturity: None No. Eggs in a Clutch: None General I.Q. (how smart, on average, are the members of this sub-type?): None Does it Bond to a Rider? (Yes, No, Sometimes, Rarely, ect.): No Any other relevant facts: Bones are not Hatched, they are made. The easiest way to do this is to take a Dream or Nightmare, remove the soul, and then purify if a Nightmare or taint if a Dream. This process usually either kills the Rider or comes very close, if it doesn't kill them, the Rider often wishes she/he had died because of the constant pain if their Dragon gets too close. If the Bone Dragon was created in this fashion and the Rider survives, they always try to kill their Rider. This can only be undone by returning the Dragon's soul and reversing the taint/purification. The next medium-level difficulty can only be don by the Mayan Royal family. To create a Bone using this method, the Family member must find the skeletal remains of a Dragon and imbue the dead creature with a sense of unfinished business. The Dragon will not rest until it destroys every family member of whoever it is sent to destroy. The final, hardest, way to create a Bone Dragon can only be done by the Bonded Dragon of the Dragon Mistress, thformal title of the Mayan Queen. Her Bonded has the ability to tell other DRagons to become what they are not. While this may sound the easiest, it takes much more magic, power, and stamina than the other two--but it is also the only one that cannot be undone.
