Just as a point of reference. The computer I'm building is comprised of the following
NVidia 480 GTX video card Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16 ghz processor ASUS P5P43TD Motherboard 4 gigs DDR3 ram
Along with the other parts its going to run me a little over $1100 This will be able to run Crysis at max at around 55 frames.
The processor is an important part of the computer but doesn't help improve overall gaming that much only adding 2-3 frames to high-end games. Nothing at this moment uses Quad Core. So there is no need to run out and but anything higher than a Dual core processor, but the speed is important.

Remember that you can meet the minimum requirements or a little better and you'll be just fine, if you don't have the money for a laptop that meets ALL of the recommended requirements. Just make sure though that your Video Card at least meets the recommended requirement. So NVidia GTX 460 or better, or the RADEON equivelent.

Minimum requirements are bullshit. They pretty much layout what is needed to boot up the game and run at 20 frames or less. Most developers (good or bad) do this just to get some increased sales figures. That's why I always shoot for beyond maximum settings because I'll be able to run above and beyond what they "recommend".

Well, you don't appear to have enough memory Dani. Minimum is 2000 MB, and since you only have 1755 I'm guessing you'll have issues.

Most laptops aren't upgradeable. Some you can do a few things to but most you cant.

Hey, as this is already stickied I thought I'd toss this info in here. http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/Everyone can use that link to download the official FFXIV Benchmark. It should give you at least an idea of how well the game will run on your system.

The benchmark still isn't the most reliable source.

It's not, but it can still give an idea at least if you even have a chance of running it and how smoothly it will probably run if on high or low settings.
