Only on the basis that I've seen a lot of bashing on here. I just want to say that... Isn't this suppose to be fun and a place for people to find others like themselves? I know the argument over Wicca vs Neo-paganism, but i think that there is a way to inform without fighting over it. Its like beating a dead horse, Its not going to go anywhere no matter how hard you hit it. I'm just saying. I'm starting to feel like this is not the guild for me, and just a place for people to get their ideas bashed, Kinda like a gay Christian. Anyways. I just thought i should put one tiny idea out there.

I know that it bothers you a lot, but sometime you just gotta bite your tongue. I do it all the time because... its slightly pointless to argue over the interwebs.

I agree, to an extent. What you said is right. I tend to be nice when informing people, and take a milder tone along with using the emotion thingies to get my tone across to the reader.
But some of the vets on gaia have seen more then their fair share of fluffs out there. Now, there is a difference between a fluff and someone who is simply misinformed. But over the years, when you've been nice and helpful and all you get in return is some young teenybopper sticking their fingers in their ears ad going "lalalalala! I can't hear you!", can make one rather blunt went dealing with the misinformed masses.
There's also the fact that communicating over the internet is hard enough, most of the time. When you throw in the fact that tone almost never carries over as one intends, it's nearly impossible. For example, someone may come off as mean and attacking when they aren't do either from their end. Miscommuncation at it's worst.
That being said, I'll try and keep this a relatively relaxed place the best I can. We're gonna start having monthly contests with gold prizes, and open discussions possibly without flaming. It's gonna take effort from not just the crew and me, but from the members as well.

As I am, you will be Yes, ok, i understand, I've read enough posts on here to see that y'all mean business. But couldn't there be a slightly nicer way to do that? Like, instead of jumping the shark and giving the 411 and really pissing people off, couldn't you just politely say, "oh hey.... what your thinking of is really called "bla bla bla" not wicca." Try to enlighten them. I see the aspect of defending you religion/beliefs, and i can see where arguing and getting it threw some thick heads might be called for, but again, I'm just saying, that there could be a nicer way.

I understand where you're coming from Falling Stars, and I'm genuinely sorry you feel that way. We're not about arguing here, but we are about education and stopping the spread of misinformation. Unfortunately misinformation runs rampant around the pagan community, and many people don't want to listen. That doesn't mean we should just lie down and let people continue to spread falsehoods. It's not a matter of differing opinions where we are just too stubborn to admit our differences, but rather hard fact versus deeply ingrained lies.
I hope you understand why we try to reeducate people the way we do. I'm sorry if it offends you, but we will not stop doing what we do. If it makes you so uncomfortable, then maybe you are right in saying this is not the place for you. I certainly hope that is not the case, as I'd hate to lose a valuable member of our group, but please understand we are only trying to help the community as a whole by what we do.

But of course, not everyone is the same, and everyone has different methods, and of course even if you believe taking a friendly, open approach is best, it's not always easy to be super nice and bubbly. Especially when you feel like a broken record having the same discussion for the 3rd or 4th time in a day with different (or possibly even the same) people....

I'm going to attempt to major in religious studies and its really hard to decipher from whats what in this system. I am interested, and want to know more, but i want to know which branch is described by what. I think it would also be beneficial to others in this guild by classifying what they really are believing in. I would defiantly help.
I've done a lot of studding, but i feel like, i'm not sure whats what (until i read many posts on here), but many things are misleading and hearing things from people who seem to be legitimately Wiccan help. Thank you guys. Keep up the good work!
