Aekea is known for its industrial appeal and, more specifically, shopping and entertainment. It was originally constructed for these express purposes, and as it has grown it has lived up to these expectations. Many Aekeans have jumped at the chance to open their own shops and work towards the Gaian dream of rags to riches. Not all of them succeeded, but it never stopped others from trying.

As the town grew, so did the need for things that just weren't shops and movie theaters. Workers were having children who needed education. People needed more places to live. For many the drive to Durem was much too far for a hair cut. So the government laid claim to some of the abandoned buildings (once being factories or shut down shops) and renovated them into schools. They sold other buildings to others at cheaper prices in order to promise some basic necessities to the citizens of Aekea.

So the town thrived.

Town Map

The link above is the map of Aekea. It has been divided into districts and each building has been numbered. In which district a business is in has no meaning; districts are used for the mail system and nothing more.

At the moment there are a few empty buildings. You may apply to put a business there, but you cannot claim one as your own personal home. There are designated areas in which Aekeans live. However you are allowed to live within your building should you have a business established.

The list below correlates to the town map.

Splice 'n Health & Beauty

1. What is sold here? Genetic altering potions, herbal medicine, beauty supplies (like make up, soaps, body wash and other hair care products).

2. Can bugs/trash/ink be exchanged here?:Yes . . . For potions and make up.

3. Who is the shop keeper, and what do they look like? :
Shou (Medicine)
Lucian (Beauty)
Paku (part time for Beauty)
Black (Gene Potions)

4. What would be in the background of the shop image?:
It really depends on which floor.

5. What does the shop look like?:
First Floor - Waiting room has a grass floor with light peach colored walls. On the walls there are several photographs of Aekea from different areas and angles of the town. Beyond the waiting room is the beauty section of the shop which is run by Lucian and part-timer Paku. The wooden floor is polished and waxed to help bounce the soft lights around the room and give the area a spa-like feel. There are several counters and shelves show casing beauty products ranging from make up to hair care to body wash. The different products are separated by brand and then by type, each of them have their own sections in the shop floor including the sample areas and bins of bargain price tags. To the left hand side of the shop between body wash and lotions cases, there is a set of stairs leading up and down into the other floors of the shop.

Second floor - The green floor carpet of grass returns along with more of its friends, the hanging pots of plants and over-hanging vines with bright flowers. It looks like a green house, smells like a greenhouse and hey, guess what? It is a green house. The ceilings are made of heavy duty stained glass with metal braces and shutters on them. The rows of counters house various plants form all around Gaia and some are even beyond space (yes, we have Zurg plants). The shelves around the west side of the building are lined with jars of dries and pickled plants along with dead animals' body parts. The cashier counter is in front of these shelves and in between some snapdragons and screaming mandrakes.

Basement - It's the high contrast to the second floor. The floor is made of stone
which as been scarred several times by potion spills and violent reactions to said potions. Blinking status lights along the walls with monitors and scientific machinery. Large tubes are filled with various colors of unknown liquids. Shelves are stacked with gene altering potions behind locked glass cases. Some are glowing, some are pulsing and some still bubbling without heat. Charts of ingredients and recipes are plastered over whatever space was left from the bookcases, machines, potion cabinets and the vats of potions in the production.

Exterior - The front wall has the shop sign mounted onto it with neon lights and a wooden placard. The windows sills are steel blue with plants over hanging from the top windows. Flowers are seen from the large front windows and arranged with care. The sides of the building are huge murals of steel trees with flower petals falling.

6. What are some quotes the shop keeper would say?:

Lucian:

"Welcome to Splice 'n Health and Beauty."

"Julian doesn't have any problems with Noir, does he?"

"Don't worry, all of the products aren't stuffed with harmful chemicals like the other brands you'll find around Gaia."

"Don't use too much or else you'll run out faster than you would think. Take your time with your beauty, you'll last longer."

"The flower that blooms last will stay beautiful the longest."

"Yes, I used to be the captain of the Aekean Guard, but I won't disclose any details further than that about my resignation."

Paku:

"Welcome to the Splice 'n Health and Beauty! How can I help you?"

"I'm only working part time here. I'm the one running around and checking inventory."

"I feel bad for MANtis sometimes. . . Frogger can be scary in the bakery. I know, I've seen it happen back when I was still the delivery kid for Lucian."

"I feel kinda like a jerk around the girls at school. . . But it just bugs me to know someone who's beautiful will eventually be scarred from the synthetic beauty products that eat away at you. . . . . Like some brands. . . ."

"Is my dad in trouble again?"

"I wonder what Julian is going to sell this season. The harvest was pretty good this time around."

Shou:

"Welcome to my pharmacy, how can I help you?"

"I've got plenty of plants this year, take as much as you need."

"Julian helped me set up the greenhouse here, I would really be grateful if you didn't tear up the plants like Ash did. . . . ."

"Before I can give you the medicine, I need to see your prescription and your doctor's notes. It's better that I know because I can tailor your medicine to fit your needs."

"Say. . . Have you seen Noir lately? He's gone missing again and it doesn't seem like the guards are very happy."

Black:

"Gene splicing is actually kinda fun after you get past the first dozen. Especially when you run around town scaring people for the hell of it."

"I live pretty far from town actually. I'm banned from living here after several of my experiments blew up half the block. . . Hey, it was for science!"

"My record from the looney bin? I think it was around thirty times since I've last escaped from there."

"Don't worry, the hospital is just a short walk away from here."

"Man, I'd really hate to find out that Julian was eaten by that plant-thing again. . ."

"Noir better not have stolen that book. . . . "

7. How many floors does the shop have?:3

8. Does anybody live on the remaining floor? No

3. Who is the shop keeper, and what do they look like? : Z Addict___x
User Image

4. What would be in the background of the shop image?:
A counter covered in: tea pots, coffee brewers, whipped cream dispensers, various bottles of flavoring, a chalkboard with prices, specials, and the like, stacks of to-go cups, ceramic mugs of varying colours, stacks of small plates, a sink, hand whipes, stacks of napkins, labeled glass jars of different coffee beans, labeled glass jars filled with tea bags, etc.

5. What does the shop look like?:
Inside: The background mentioned above is on the far wall parallel to the entrance. There are metal bistro sets scattered throughout the shop with packets of cream, sugar, and artifical sweeter set on them. The walls are copper and red striped. The floor is made of concrete. The front wall is made completely of glass as are the doors.

Outside:The roof extends above the small fenced in patio. There are painted green metal sculptures of bushes that surround the small fenced in patio in front of the shop and the glass front wall. There are six of the same metal bistro sets within the fenced area. Three on each side of the door. There is a small gate in the fence that is kept open during buisness hours parallel to the door. The patio has an orange brick walk that leads to the door the rest of the floor is aluminum. The building itself is gray concreate. There is a sign hanging from the center of the extended roof with "Oil and Caffeine" on it.

6. What are some quotes the shop keeper would say?:
"Would you like some tea? No? Oh. Well then. What would you like, Sport/Scout?"
"I recommend the Oil Drop. It does wonders for your bolts. It is my special recipe so I would know better than anyone."
"Your human nervous system wouldn't be able to handle that I think. You would overload and crash much like my ship did."
"I love dogs. I have a few myself. How many? Twenty right now although I'm sure I'll collect more. No, they don't live inside. Yes, they all have names-... Do you want something else or not?"
"I did quite well in the Olympics even though I only still had my first set of attachments and wasn't quite used to them. They were kind of rusty though. Multiple competetors had to get Tetanus shots though."
"No, I don't own this shop. I might as well however. All I know is that twenty percent of every sale goes to some unknown source."
"Oh, I never really leave Aekea. Gaians is most other cities look at me strangely."
"I am sorry that term is unfamiliar to me."

Moonlit Reading

1. What is sold here? Books, books, and more books

2. Can bugs/trash/ink be exchanged here?: No.
3. Who is the shop keeper, and what do they look like? : King is the shopkeeper. He looks like king...

4. What would be in the background of the shop image?: Portions of bookcases, stair case leading up, a door way marked "Employees only"

5. What does the shop look like?:
It is a two story establishment that resembles a mixture of Durem and Aekean architecture. There are two windows, where the store name is intricately painted (The left window reads "Moonlit", while the other reads "Reading"). The door way is oak, and sports a small window where king's sarcastic open/close sign hangs. Inside, dead ahead from the door, is King's desk, where you can purchase the books. To the right and left are many aisles of bookshelves (I don't know how many, though). The top shelf of the fantasy section has a pillow and blanket on it, with a desk lamp bolted to the back of the neighboring shelf. The shelves are wood. Behind the desk is a staircase leading to king's apartment above the store. To the left of the staircase is a doorway that leads to the storage room. Both the staircase and door are protect by magic against those who try to enter without king's permission.

6. What are some quotes the shop keeper would say?:
"Welcome to Moonlit Reading. We sell books here."
"I prefer fantasy over sci-fi."
"I can neither confirm or deny the existence of MAGIC..."
"*sigh* We're out of 'Robotics for n00bs', I'm afraid."
"Yes, I'm an elf. No, you may not touch my ears."
"Shh, I'm trying to read."
"*YAWN* Sorry, I just woke up."
"EGADS! A customer?"

Normally he doesn't travel without his trusty scythe, but Work ethics call for a safe environment. And a scythe is hardly safe.

4. What would be in the background of the shop image?:
It will face a corner in which one one wall is displayed various magazines, and comics. On the other wall would be shalves stacking with movies, and premium titles. 5. What does the shop look like?:
The main floor is where I work. Inside will be a calm atmosphere, with several aisles holing music, as well as little sampler stations, for people to sample the music. The Music is sorted out by both genre and alphebetical order, as it is the main stock of the store. On the back wall, and the wall to the left of the entrance would be filled with various types of right would be a wall legnth rack, stacked high with magazines and comics, sorted out in by general subject. Betwee the right wall and the first music aisle would be a a table, with six chairs, should anyone want to stop and simply read, or have a game of cards. Upstairs would be my pricate quarters, where I live. It has a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Nothing else. I never use the bathroom though. Simply for friends visiting who are of flesh and blood.

Outside it It would resemble a regular house, but the door to the first floor is a glass door, with a bell, on it. To the left of the door is a large sign, with a picture of two galaxies, crossed to form an X, and the words, "The Multiverse" in bold yellow underneath.

6. What are some quotes the shop keeper would say?:

The Pit Stop
Floor 1: Fresh Paint (FP)
Floor 2: Grindin' Gears (GG)
Floor 3: Revvin' Engines (RV)

1. What is sold here?:
FP: Clothes
GG: Music oriented items, mp3s for Gaia Cash
RE: Drinks

2. Can bugs/trash/ink be exchanged?:
FP: Trash
GG: No
RE: No

3.Who are the shopkeepers, and what do they look like?:
FP: Kluteau

GG: Melodeau is the shop owner, and he is a robot made out of a mixture of old robot parts and a jukebox. He has all six arms glowing slightly with flourescent purple lights illuminating his every move (black lights actually installed into his arms, which are again bildeau's multiple arms, but his hands are more like a humans and have fingers and are very dexterous). Large checkered headphones frame his head, surrounded with dread-lock like bundles of black wires. A single arm lifted up to his headphones.

RE: PQ and Retrostacja

4.What would be in the background of the shop image?:
FP: The background would be the back left corner of the shop, with the left wall a wall of shoes in all shapes, colors and sizes. Behind Kluteau would be circular racks of clothes, with a coat stand or two in the back filled with hats.

GG: The background would be a black light lit room with a mixing table with two huge speakers on each side looking out into a crowd of dancing people. Melodeau would be in the middle of the speakers, one of his several arms holding his headphones to his head.

RE: The background would be a wall with several shelves of glass bottles (alcoholic? you decide), with a mirror and sink on the right side of the background. The wood would be a darker brown with many etchings into it of people's names and dates. Retrostacja would be an alternative shop keeper, much like Rufus and Ian are, but he wouldn't talk. He'd be sitting on the bartop, head cocked to the side and tongue hanging out.

5.What does the shop look like?:
I WILL GET TO THIS.

7.What are some quotes the shop keepers would say?:
FP: "Eeeek! Oh, didn't see you there."
"Have you seen my half-brothers at The Faktori? Aren't they so nice?!"
"What's it like outside Aekea? I've always wanted to see it..."
"Why doesn't everyone like robots? We just want to be like everyone else..."
"I know where everything is, just ask me!"

GG:"Hey man, you looking to jive? You've come to the right place."
"Music is my life. What else did you expect from a jukebox?"
"You want to request a song? Wait like everyone else, man."

RE: "Hey ___, nice seeing you around!"
"No, my face does not get cable."
"I'm not a robot, I'm a cyborg, not that there's anything wrong with being a robot, you know."
"Don't mind Retrostacja. He's just happy to see you!"

7. How many floors does the building have?:
There are 3 floors to the shops, but the building has 4 floors

8.Does someone live on the remaining floor?:
Yes, PQ and Retrostacja
