Hi fellow brothers and sisters in Christ!
Have you encountered strong opposition when stating that you are a Christian, and because of that seem to have "old fashioned" views on dating, marriage, homosexuals, etc.?
How did/do you cope with that?
I see that there are many young people here on Gaia (I just turned 30, so I feel old blaugh ), and am curious how they are living as Christian nowadays?
I used to have many friends from grad school, now it is basically reduced to close family friends, and one or two pals. Interesting how God took me out of that environment.

yes, positively.
how do i cope? well, it helps to understand that unbelievers love their sin. they love darkness and hate light. they're unable to see things the way God sees things, they accept the philosophies of men instead of the things of God. the things of God are foolishness to them. they are spiritually blind. pray for them. witness to them by giving them the Gospel always. i mean, never leave out the gospel when witnessing to the lost.
until they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, they will never agree with you on issues such as dating, marriage and homosexuality and it's always best to simply state what Gods word says about such issues and avoid getting into arguments about it.
it's best to state your beliefs based on the word of God and move on. don't become entangled in arguments.
As far as having few friends... well i believe that is true for most of us. we grow older and we realize that there are only a couple people who we consider to be our true friends.
heart
p.s. i'm older than you blaugh

DSHW Hi fellow brothers and sisters in Christ! That's a very good question. I'll see if I answer right. Well I try to stay with an open mind when it comes to a person of who they love. I see it as if you don't want to be judged with who you may love with another person, don't do it to others even if you or they don't agree with something. Like it's been said "don't judge others for a way you too will be judged" or of a similar saying. I can't say or judge for certain if it's up to God himself to do so. I'll say I don't call myself a true Christian unless I know for sure with what it'd take for 1 to see themselves as 1 truly. I do see these days more people drifting apart from religion & God himself. I had doubt too but I think with myself alone & God showed himself to me in ways that people wouldn't understand fully or even myself to explain. I still have times of doubt but if you really look through all this mess we're becoming to see on Earth I feel like there's something there that watches & guides you throughout life & sees if you continue to ignore or find yourself to listen to just God himself. There's still a small light of hope that I hope one day to see it become bigger for all people to see. Many people just miss the point even if it's not just God alone. To me I think friends come & go for a few seconds in time & each have you learn something. Whether it's a person that gives you trust or back stabs, you learn as time goes on as they start to drift away. I'd know since I had backstabbers, even though I was mad at them but I learned something out of it. What keeps me to cope with it all is that there's things that happen with reason & free will. It's up to a person with what they want to do in life with free will. But things like hatred & love are things people tend to forget. There's always love no matter how much hatred we have.. If we taught more people & today's youth how to love & respect others values, we can live life in a better place while we're here. I'm 16 by the way.xD

I too am an older Christian, but still young in my Christian life. It IS hard sometimes. This may sound silly but of late I just imagine Jesus walking right beside me ALL the time.(He is,afterall.) This helps to remember to keep my thoughts, words and actions in check. Most of all He gives me courage.

You WILL see who your true friends are. Outside of gaia and my family I only have two real friends and that's okay because they are TRUE friends.

Ok... so, Im still Young so I'll share my views on that. 3nodding 3nodding 3nodding
How do I cope?
Mostly I ignore them but Im not usually teased by the old model stuff of courting because we also use the new ones. I mean, texting, calling, HHWW (my friends do that but not ME)... Kiss (on the cheek, but honestly, even my cheek and lips is still "untouched" XD)
So, they sometimes tease me about, why not letting him or stuff like that, when I look at them and say.. "remember?!!" They will understand, so, I think... its normal.
