The day itself was a beautiful one. Thick rays of sunshine rained down on the land, embracing all that it touched with warmth and light. The clouds above resembled cotton balls stuck to an endless blue canvas, which complimented the lake magnificently. Luminessa noticed each of these things as she flew toward the large body of water. She had decided earlier that morning that resting on the lakeshore was how she wished to spend her day. Afterward, perhaps she and her twin brother, Ahanu, could meet up later and enjoy one another’s company.

For now, however, the glowing Key landed on the soft banks of the lake and approached the cool, refreshing water. She instantly saw her reflection, if only because she was a source of brilliant illumination. Her colors were less radiant in direct sunlight, but as soon as night was upon the area she was quite the sight. Extending her paw, she touched the water and giggled when a school of curious fish nibbled on her fingers; it tickled quite a bit. With a smile, she walked higher up the bank and situated herself in the sand while keeping her gaze resting over the lake.

xXx

Stretching, a figure blinked bleary eyes in the brilliant sunlight. Shaking out his fur, Trumila looked around the thicket he called home. Joyous birdsong filled the air around him as the flying creatures welcomed another day while looking for others of their kind as well as food.

Grumbling softly to himself for having awakened late, the Lock padded off into the thick vegetation. Each plant grabbed with knarled hands, clinging to his fur, his hat, his jacket. Still, as the male continued to walk through, it was apparent that these stationary living beings didn't bother the male or ruin his few items.

Nose twitching, Trumila scented the air. Nearby he could smell some berries - clusters of his favorite kind - as well as something else. He couldn't place his paw on it and he didn't worry much about it. The creature - whatever it was - didn't smell like a predator or something threatening in any manner. Padding closer, the male Lock rustled through some plants until he found the fat, juicy blueberries. As he munched on the delicious fruits, the male caught the pleasing scent of water and the sounds of lapping at the beach.

Must be by the lake, he thought simply. Shrugging it off, the male decided that once he'd eaten, he'd go down to the shore for a drink and maybe for a swim.

After a little while of simply sitting down and enjoying the lake and its accompanying breeze, Lumi decided to search for something to munch on. She hadn’t had breakfast yet, and her tummy was quite hungry. Luckily, her nose informed her that berries were nearby. Upon scenting the air further, she was surprised to smell another presence. Delighted at the thought of making a new friend, she walked off toward the sweet aroma and the one she didn’t recognize. It took her no more than a minute to find the delicious blueberries, which she hesitantly began picking and nibbling on.

As she rounded the bush to see if there were more, and possibly other flavored berries, she came across the mysterious smell. It was a male Lock whom she’d never had the pleasure of meeting. “Oh!” she stated, her voice soft and cheerful. “Hello there.” Naturally one for conversation and making friends, the glowing Key had no problem whatsoever introducing herself. “My name is Luminessa, but you can call me Lumi if you’d like.

Trumila was proud of his find. The berries on his bush were plump and rich in flavor. As he was peering onto the leaves of the plant a faint glow from the other side caught his attention. Pulling back, the male looked into the sky thinking that clouds were distorting the sunshine. When that revealed nothing but pure blinding light.

A friendly voice from his side caught the male's attention. Turning, he saw the source of the glow. It was a Key, introducing herself to him. "I'm Trumila," he replied simply. With a twitch of his tail, the Lock male returned to looking for more blueberries.

Lumi felt a rush of jubilance seize her heart. “That’s a very pretty name,” she replied, having never heard someone else called that before. As Trumila returned to searching for more berries, the radiant Key followed behind him, as if they’d known each other for years. “Do you normally pick berries here?” It was an innocent question. After all, there were plenty of other locations that were known to have juicy berries as well. Reaching out her paw, she gathered a few of the delicious blue orbs and popped them into her mouth.

Trumila huffed when the glowing Key commented on his name. The male found the name feminine, but he often forgot since no one was ever around to say his name. This female just reminded him of it which was irritating.
Flicking a glance Luminessa, Trumila wondered if he ignored her if the female would leave him be. This pleased him, but the Lock sighed. She didn't seem to be the type to be fazed by that. Maybe if he answered her questions... "I usually move around so that the berries can re-grow." His reply was a grumble. He was grudgingly going to try answering Lumi's questions.

Ah! That makes sense,” Lumi agreed with a nod. “And it’s actually a smart thing to do. Otherwise, the berries won’t have the opportunity to grow back for us to eat.” Despite how Trumila felt, she was actually having a good time. Meeting other Locks and Keys was a truly wonderful pastime to engage in, regardless if she was unaware that the Lock didn’t wish to put up with her friendliness. Still, she continued to obliviously follow him. “My favorite berries are raspberries. Although, it’s a little hard to find them. Especially around here.

As he tried to evade the female, Trumila was dismayed to find Lumi following him and still chatting away merrily. Pausing, the Lock sniffed the air to look for some more berries. He glanced at the glowing Key before refocusing his attention on his sense of smell.
"Rasberries are easy to find," he muttered softly. "If you know where to look." Walking on, Trumila did his best to ignore Lumi by centering his attention on searching for berries and using his senses. His jacket rustling and brushing against his fur. The grass tickling his soft pads. The aroma of the various herbs and flowers that crossed his path. The glow of the Key and of the sun on the vegetation...

Mmhmm,” Lumi agreed with a smile, still following the reluctant Lock around like a lost puppy. “I usually go raspberry hunting with my brother. They’re his favorite, too.” If Trumila was giving off signs that he didn’t want the Key hanging around, she was surely missing them. Either that or she was simply too engrossed in their conversation to notice; it had been a while since she’d met someone new. She wanted to treasure the opportunity as much as she could.

Trumila paused, his heavy ears lifting slightly as something moved around ahead. It was a careful tread, meant to keep the creature concealed, but the Lock realized that it wasn't that of any predator or threat. Sighing he glanced at Lumi before he spoke. "Are you two often together?"
Although the male didn't care for extra company, Trumila wouldn't mind having Lumi distracted so he could slip away and be left alone.

Lumi’s ears perked upon hearing Trumila’s question. Then, smiling even wider than she currently was, she nodded. “Yes. We’re twins, you see, so we spend a lot of time in each other’s company.” While she was lighter shades of bluish-green, her brother, Ahanu, was colored in darker hues. Simply speaking of her twin brightened the Key’s mood all the more. “I can introduce him to you sometime if you’d like.” Carefully, she stepped over a large stick as she continued to follow him.

Trumila made non-specific sounds of interest as he walked on. Although he didn't care to be bothered by another Lock or Key, Lumi didn't necessarily know that. Following his nose, the male angeled himself to the right without breaking his gait.
"I'm suprised that he isn't here with you," he began monotonely, "if you are with each other so much." At the end, Trumila had paused and against his will glanced back at the glowing female.

Lumi offered her newly made acquaintance a sweet smile when he turned around to look in her direction. Her pale yellow eyes were able to get a good look at him now that he was fully facing her. Silently, she admired his interesting clothing and how well it looked on him. “Well, we do have our own lives,” she noted pointedly. “Even though we're twins we like to do separate things.” She nodded.

Trumila sighed softly as he turned back around to keep going. "I never said you didn't have seperate lives," he grumbled softly. Although many would have assumed that from his comment before, the Lock still felt offended that she'd replied like that. It bothered the pale creature that this Key could affect him. He'd never cared to talk to any Lock or Key after he'd pulled away from them. This was the most he'd spoken without trudging off or getting angry at another.

No, I don’t suppose you did say that,” Lumi agreed with another smile, trailing behind him. Without saying anything more, she spread her wings and flew up into the air a few feet to scout the area at a higher angle. She fluttered above Trumila, though kept up with his pace. Her eyes glanced around for any traces of food, and possibly some yummy raspberries. Talking about her favorite snack earlier put her in the mood for the tasty pinkish-red berries. “What kind of berries do you like best?” she asked abruptly, looking down at the Lock.
