These are the rules of the game, it's as simple as that [well.. not quite].
As the games go on, there will be alterations and changes in order to
make things better. If there are any changes made during a game, the
new/altered rule(s) will be here as well as placed in the Game Status
section. If you have any question, please ask. You can either PM the Staff
with 'Game Rules' as the subject title, or post in the thread OOCly.
Well then, on to the rules!Rule 001 -
Your SuppliesYou have two different bags at your disposal. It's up to you whether or
not your character decides to keep them or use anything out of them. The first bag is your personal belongings bag. Everyone playing here
[minus the teachers] are 9th grade students who have basically been
abducted while going on their Class Trip. Your personal belongings bag
is essentially the bag you brought along with you. This means items
like clothing, videogames, snack foods, etc.. Your character did not know
this was going to happen nor will they have packed any weapons such as
a gun. A small pocket knife would be ok, but don't depend on this say
you get a crappy weapon. Any questionable items can be denied by any
staff member. If you already posted about it, you will have to edit.
The second bag is the one you're issued as you're leaving the first room.
This bag contains a flashlight, a map of the island, a compass, a watch,
bread rations and 2 bottles of water, 'personal' items for the girls [bags can
get mixed up, but this does not mean for everyone to pretend they got
said items or didn't get them. But they are there in case you want to use
them to add to your character], and lastly, your weapon. Weapons are
assigned to players and put next to their name in Player Status.
Rule 002 -
Multiple or Original CharactersYou are allowed to play mulitple characters in a game, but no one may
play a character from the book, manga, or either movie [maybe it'll be
added later on, but no for now]. If you are going to play multiple
characters, keep in mind that the same rules about activity and such apply
to both characters independently. It's a two character limit though. As the
game progresses, more might be allowed. Also, if you wish to play a second
character, please do so on an alt account. Just post on your main account
that you wish to add an alt account, give the account name, whether it's male
or female, and if there's an open number, what number you want for it. It'll be
added as a regular player.
Rule 003 -
Signing up for the GameIn order to be apart of the game, you have to let someone on staff know
you plan on participating in it. Otherwise your name [or alts name] stays
off the list. The staff member running the game will announce the last
day people can sign up. If you miss it, you're out of luck [unless of course
there's a good reason. Then you need to PM the staff member running
that particular game, let them know what happened, and see if you can
still get in. If you can't, just wait till the next one]. If something comes up
and you won't be able to make the game, let a staff member know and
they can remove your name from the list. You can also give another
member permission to play your character for that game or you can give
permission for the staff member to play and kill them in the intro. In the
case of giving permission, whether it be to the staff memember running the
game or to someone else, the staff member running it must be informed.
You can either post you'll be playing in the thread or PM the staff account.
If you're posting for an alt, do so under the alt and not on your main
account.
Rule 004 -
Roleplay FormatThe majority will follow along the lines of a book. Talking should be in
quote marks and actions should be written out as the character is doing
them, not -fires shot at the ground-For those who are new to roly playing and/or are not that experienced,
*'s and - will be acceptable for your first game till you get the hang of it,
but actions must be detailed out like -Bill fires a warning shot into the
ground near Sally's feet- Generally the more detail the better, but don't
spend a paragraph describing one action.
Rule 005 - No God PlayNo instant kills, no pulling weapons out of thin air, no magically
knowing how to break someone's neck with a spork. You're a 9th grader
and you're not Kiriyama. When fighting, attacking, or shooting someone, you need to take it slow
and give them time to react. There's no way you could just run up behind
them, point a gun into their back, and shoot them. They would at least
hear you. Keep things reasonable. Anything questionable will be looked at
by staff members and you might have to edit your post. Also keep in
mind to be detailed about what you're doing. If you simplely post that you
shoot at someone, all they have to do is say they dodged it. Pick a body
part, something on their uniform, anything. Just saying you shot at them
doesn't mean your aim is good or you were actually targeting them. Also
keep in mind no one has perfect aim. People miss. And if you do get hit,
you get hit, work with it. If it's serious enough to die, you die. It's only a
game. Here the winners aren't just those who survive, but those who
portray their character the best.
Rule 006 - Time and DistanceEach real day here counts as 3 or 4 hours in the game.
[Whether it is three or four is stated in the Game Info section]The maps are also not that small. On average it would take a
good three to four hours of running to get from one side to the other.
Keep this in mind as your character is moving about. There are no exact
distance to time ratios, but it's best to stay away from anything too
questionable or there's a good chance you'll have to edit your post
via a Staffers request.
Rules 007 - Your WeaponEach weapon has it's limits. For any firing weapons, there will be a set amount of ammo and distance.
This is displayed next to the weapon name in the player status section.
Remember that the stated ammo is how much a player starts with.
If you plan on taking a dead characters weapon, you need to either ask
them OOCly how much is left or backlog and count. Keep in mind that
just because the weapon you get is made to fire, beat things, etc, does
not mean that's what you're limited to. Be creative. Use the butt of a rifle
to break someone's knee cap, the plastic hammer to choke someone, or
use a bullet to poke someone's eye out. You are a desperate teenager
about to die after all ^_^
Rule 008 - What you controlYou are only in command of your own character unless stated otherwise. This means you can not say what someone else does. You can not make
up background history about them. You are however allowed to play off
what information they give you. Only incases where a person gives you
permission to write bits for their character it is allowed. If it turns out you
didn't have said permission, you'll receive one warning. Next tme you do
it in any game, you're character will be killed.
Rule 009 - Danger ZonesAlong with the new guild we've finally added danger zones. For those of
you who aren't familiar with the story, here's a quick recap.Every real day will count as three or four hours in the game. With in this
time frame, sections on the map will be marked as dangerzones. The
dangerzones taking place at 12 am PST will be announced the day
before in the Current Info and added to the list in Current Game stats. The
following day, the map will update with the danger zones marked out in
red. Anyone who's characters are still in a danger zone at 12 am with have
their collars detonated. What this also means is that after each in game
post, everyone needs to display what section of the map they're in.
Rule 010 - The BeginningEvery game will start off with a brief period of role play in the starting room. This is where the Teacher running the game and the student playing will
have a chance to interact and build up their stories. Students may talk to
one another, but make sure to be careful about it. Some teachers don't
like talking in the classroom. The Teacher will run through the basic
objectives of the game, give the students a little Q&A time, and then signal
the time for everyone to start filing out. This will be over the coarse of
real days. The first day will be basics, interaction, and Q&A, while the
second day will be everyone leaving. By the end of the second day at
12 am, the game officially starts and the starting room becomes a danger
zone. Anyone who still hasn't exited will have their collars set off and
killed. No where in this interaction period may a student kill the teacher.
Armed guards, sure, go for it, but be warned that the more damage you do
the less likely you'll make it out of that room. Attacks may be made on the
teacher, but please contact them OOCerly beforehand so there's no
confusion. The teacher may get hurt or may not. Depends on what you do,
but it will not be anything serious. You on the other hand are risking
a very early death in the game, so be careful.
Rule 011 - Game AdviceThe most important rule is to have fun.The whole purpose of the game is to enjoy ourselves. So don't take
anything seriously. You die, you die, you win, you win. The winners here
aren't the people left standing at the end, but the people who put in the
best performances. If you're not having fun or having trouble getting into
the game, feel free to let us [the staff] or your fellow players know. And if
we can't help you out, take a break from the game [either by death or let
someone else run your character around a bit] and come back when
you're feeling more up to it. By no means are you required to be here, but
it's still nice if you stay.
If there are any rules you believe should be added or you have trouble understanding, please PM the Staff with the subject set as 'BR rules' and we'll look it over and update/adjust. If you have any question either, PM away!
