-In The Beginning-
It was a fair afternoon day under the spring skies, warm for spring, and indeed warm for the region. Though winter's time dispelled the cool breezes clung to the land with desperate desire. It was a lovely area to remain, after all. Still, with the extending chilly air, the ground grew warm enough for a flock of youths to frolic in bare feet. There were three, however only one would be seen at present, for the other two hid within holes in trees, shaggy bushes, or tall meadow grasses.
Though the two might appear lost, she who was left to search was not unhappy. She ran with boundless energy through the meadow before coming upon the entrance of a short wood, her angelic voice echoing through the field in indulgent laughter, and her auburn hair just coming out of its infantile curls blowing behind her. Her eyes were a delightfully ordinary blue with a taste of green behind them, bright, and searching. The girl wore today, a yellow summer dress with little blue flowers, a thin bow tied at the back.
Her name was Ariadne, though to the technicality of her younger siblings inability to pronounce the name properly, she went by simply 'Ana'. She was a girl of six, the eldest child to her parents, and the two children she saught being her younger brother and sister. The gangly child began to search ardently for the pair, their game a delightful turn of 'Hide and Seek'.

The other two children, a pair of black haired and green eyed twins hid in their respective spots quietly as they watched their sister search. The younger of the twins was a girl with hair as curled as her sisters in tangles from her climb. She currently hid in a tree hugging the branch she clung to as her vividly green eyes watched her sister run. She was trying not to giggle because if she giggled the game would be over, and it was one of her favorite games to play. Her father often called her his little imp because she was the wildest of his children, often coming home muddy and scuffed, as it was the light blue sundress she currently wore was probably ruined. She knew her mother would scold but that her father would laugh and hug her and say simply that she was 'his little Mika imp'.
The other half of the set of twins was hiding in a bush not to far off watching both of his sisters. Watching Ana to see if she were comeing for him first, and watching Mika to make sure she didn't fall from her branch. He was quiet and very protective of his sisters which meant that should Mika fall he'd for go the game to try to catch her. As it was however his eyes were laughing and as he watched Ana run around looking for him and Mika. He had to cover him mouth to stop the giggles, however that made his bush move. Oops, now Ana would find him and he would be it, and Micheal didn't want that, he wanted to hide some more. So he knelt down and kept his hands over his mouth so that Ana might think it was a bunny or something.

Ana glanced about the trees, uncertain as to search first, through the trees, or through the bushes. She raised her head to look quickly and briefly through the trees, just settling in their new green leaves, to see if any permiscuous sibling were to be taking refuge within the newborn foliage. If any child hid within them, Ana could not see. She had decided to venture forth on any account when beside her came a rustle within the bushes she had decided to neglect for the time. With hyper bounds the child attained the bushes, unsure as to which made the noise, and fervently searched.
Ana's ginger hands plunged into the fluffy green forest ornimants and with haste, pulling the thin branches holding together the lofty green leaves, searched out one of her raven-haired siblings. She felt blindly at parts, and though saw very little at times, was still able to glimps within the matted mess until at once her tiny hands came across a soft, yet solid object. She had travelled along three seperate bushes to gather this one victory, and upon finding the object, did grasp with her eyes, her little brother, Michael.
"I found you!" She cried most excitedly.

Mika watched in childish horror as Ana moved closer to the trees and almost cried out, she didn't want to be found yet! If she was found she would be it and then she'd have to find her brother and sister and they always hid too well. Then there had been thr rustle of a bush and Ana had run off. Mika almost sighed in relife, she wasn't going to be it after all!
Micheal watched Ana search through the bushes for him, her small hands diving into each bush and searching blindly. Maybe she'd miss him? However even as he thought it her hands clasped his shoulders then the hands left and the blue green eyes of his sister greated him and he frowned. He didn't want to be it. "But Ana, I don't want to be it!" Michael pouted.

Ana laughed at her younger brother's whinings, bringing up a hand to ruffle his dark hair while pulling him out of the bushes. She knew she would still have to locate Mika before they reached the designated 'safe' zone, naming her 'It' once more.
"Too bad! When I find Mika, it'll be your turn to be it." Ana informed matter-of-factly.
Her senses hightened, her guard sharpening as she went off in search now of her younger sister. She would not be it twice in a row, absolutely not. She inched towards the trees, taking one last careful look within the bushes for any trace of the hidden imp child. When none was found, Ana slowly marched into the woods. She passed no tree without a careful inspection, however the one in which Mika hid was passed without a close enough look. Ana walked ahead, hastening her search, though attempting to keep close to Michael just in case Mika magically appeared. All she would have to do was tag her, and the turn would be over.

Mika watched Ana and Michael with her hand still firmly over her mouth to contain the giggles that wanted to escape. If she giggled Ana would find her, and that just couldn't happen. As Ana moved closer Mika clung tighter to the tree limb. She had to get down and get safe. But she couldn't do that with Ana so close. Michale couldn't help either cause then Ana would know. As Ana moved to the next tree she slowly moved toward the trunk of the tree. Ana needed to be just a little farther away then she could climb down and run for the safe zone.
Michael knew where Mika was but was very careful not to look at her becase he didn't want Ana to find her so instead he followed behind her scuffing his feet in the dirt and debris of the forest to cover up the sounds of Mika hiding in the tree and trying to get down. Like all twins he and Mika were unusually close, they had their own language with each other but sometimes it was almost like Mika and Michael knew what each other were thinking on a regular basis and Michael knew that Mika was going to make a run for the safe zone as quick as she could, but he needed to help get Ana farther away. "Ana, did you check that tree?" He asked pointing to one that was close to Ana but further from Mika.

Ana heard Michael's shufflings and immediately turned to see what or who was making them. An immediate thrill lept through her, yet was almost immediately terminated when she saw it was Michael, the one who had already been caught, making the noise. She frowned before shaking a finger at him.
"Sshh." She ordered.
She didn't want to mistake Michael for Mika again, just as well she didn't want Mika to know she was coming if she didn't know already. The thought of him conspiring against her hadn't come to her just yet, though it wouldn't come as a surprise to her when it happened. Ana was about to turn around and head deeper into the woods when Michael gave his question.
"Hmm? Did you see something?" Ana asked eagerly, quietly, rushing to said tree.
"I don't see anything... yet..." She said, looking up and walking around it.

Mika was very grateful for her brothers shuffling feet because it hid the sound of her shimmying down the tree. She hit the ground as Ana told Michael to shh and all but hugged the tree mentally willing Ana not to see her tiny body. Then to her relief Ana took off toward a tree that was further from her and Mika almost squeeked her happiness and took off toward the safe point like a shot, not worrying about how much noise she made simply running as fast as her small legs could move.
Michael watched his twin take off and 'tripped' over a tree root. He hoped his sister would stop to check him first, it would give Mika time, but maybe Ana would see that he wasn't hurt...He didn't know what to do so he looked to where Mika was running and yelled as loud as his small lungs would alow.
"Run MIKA!!!!!!!!"

Ana turned sharply when she heard Mika start to run off. If she made it to the safety then Ana would be it again! She simply could not let that happen. She began to give chase when Michael tripped, and so with a bit of hesitance, stopped to check on him. She saw that he wasn't hurt, and what was more, discovered by his lack of scrapes that he had faked his fall.
"Oh! You two!!" Ana huffed before chasing after Mika.
She was grateful that she was older, as her legs were longer so she could catch up to Mika more quickly. She was so close to the girl before, though she hadn't known it, and she cursed herself for not looking through that tree better. She chased, though Mika had gotten a bit of a head start. The safety, a tree with a long red ribbon around it, was only about fifty feet away. Ana neared Mika, though it would appear as though Mika would reach teh tree before Ana reached her.

Mika looked behind her as she ran to see Ana running after her and made a small meeping noise and pushed her small legs to move faster, the tree was so close if she could just stay fast enough Ana would be it again.
Michael sat up quickly from his spot on the ground and watched, Ana was gaining on his twin fast if Ana caught her he would be it...He didn't want to be it at all.
"Βιασύνη Mika, προφθάνει!" He said in their secret language. Telling her to hurry.

"Mika I'm gonna getcha!!!" Ana called out with a mischivious grin.
She went for a flying tackle to her younger sister, the safety only mere feet away now. She dove, though her calculations could have been better; instead of tackling her sister, she face-planted into the ground. She had been so close that she felt Mika's dress skim over her finger tips.
It was all over now. Mika would surely reach the safety, and then Ana would be it again. She looked up from her spot to see what was happening, to see her fate as the searcher unfold.

Mika looked behind her in time to see Ana face plant into the ground and skidded to a stop. The safety was right there, all she had to do was take about three more steps and touch it, but what if Ana was hurt? Her sense of winning wared with her protective instinct for all of three seconds, she ran back to Ana and knelt beside her. "You okay Ana?" She asked. Somethings were more important than a game of hide and seek.
Michael watched Ana lunge and fail to catch Mika and whooped for joy until Mika ran to Ana instead of the Safety tree. Was Ana hurt? He got up and ran toward his sisters hurriedly hoping that Ana was unhurt, but if she was he'd help as much as he could. He skidded to a stop but not quite soon enough and toppled over his sister Ana in a heep. "Are you okay?" He asked. The fact that he may have hurt her worse not yet entering his mind.

Ana was just about to get up, already propped up on her hands when Michael came and toppled over her and caused her to fall back down. She landed with an 'oof' as she became familiar with the ground once more. She rose her head and propped it on her hand and gave a sigh.
"Yes, I am fine. I'm squished, but I'm fine." She said, glancing back at Michael.

Mika giggled as Micael toppled over their sister. She now knew that Ana was all right and so was anxious to start the game again. "You is squishing Ana!" She told Michael with a giggle. Then she spun on her toes and raced toward the safe tree touching it quickly.
Michael got off Ana quickly after she mentioned being squished. "Sowwie Ana." He said with something of a puppyish look on his face. Then Mika ran to the tree and he laughed. He wasn't it again.

Ana watched helplessly as Mika touched the safety tree, sighing in defeat as each of her siblings would be hiding, and she would be seeking once again.
"Aww man..." She said, standing up.
"Alright alright, I'll count again."
She was about to get to the tree to turn and count when someone came walking up ahead of them. It was a woman wearing a long brown dress tied by a white ribbon, her hair sleak and auburn, matching Ana's, and blew in the soft breeze. She gave a wave to Ana and the twins while walking towards the tree.
"Ana, Mika, Michael! It's lunch time!" She called.
This woman was their mother. Little had she known, but she had rescued Ana from another turn of being 'It'. Happily, Ana lept from where she was to join their mother, and return home.
