Geronimo! Splash!

Cubbish laughter echoed through the air amid a flurry of mud and water. Another stream of laughter, a splash of mud, the small cub had leapt paws first into the mud puddle, likely splattering anyone or anything that happened to be nearby.

Ah, the joys of cubhood. Having escaped the watchful eye of his parents (and ditched that old worrywart rabbit), Mahkah Kidudushi had wandered a short distance from home, exploring whatever he could possibly get into.

A mysterious hole, an huge (and very bitey) bug, a biiiig tree. Oh, but then he had found it, the best treasure of all, a giant mud hole! Well okay, so it wasn't that giant, and it was actually a puddle, but it was MUD!

Tauron was going to have a fit if he ever found him, but Mahkah didn't care. He was having fun! Fuzzy old rabbit, maybe he should take some mud back for him, hehehehe.

Splash!

Udahali was quite proud of himself. It hadn't taken him long at all to notice that one of his siblings had slipped away, and it took him even less time to decide to track that sibling down. Who knew what sort of interesting things Mahkah was doing? Udahali wanted to find out, and he wanted to join in! So once he found his brother leaping into a mud puddle, he didn't bother staying hidden.

"Found you!" he exclaimed, a big grin on his face.

Tailsin had been out wandering. She hadn't met her grandchildren yet and was eager to do so but Chepi and the clan came first. It seemed her eldest daughter was still struggling with the task of leading the clan and so she had to help out where she could. She did however have spare time today and so she headed towards Nita's den.

It was a surprise when she heard two youngsters playing. She flicked her tail and headed towards where the sounds were coming from. She smiled as she saw the two youngsters and the pile of mud. They were Nita's kids alright. The colours on them from both their parents were obvious and it made her smile.

"What are you two upto?" She smiled as she spoke walking into view so the two young boys could see her. Mischief it seemed. Well being Nita's cubs they would probably be easy to deal with. The whole clan and possibly pride would worry when Chepi had cubs to unleash on the world.

He had nearly jumped out of his fur, mind racing to find an excuse for whoever had found him. I...uh...

Oh, it was just his brother! His posture changed in an instant, from sheepishly looking over his shoulder to looking cool and calm...and tough! Hah, he'd known it was his brother all along, yep, he hadn't been startled at all. Nope, nu-uh, nothing had happened at all.

A grin on his maw, Mahkah bounded to his brother, splashing mud every step off the way, and hopefully all over his brother. Hehe, he liked this game.

He had been about to pounce his brother, tail twitching over his back. But he had been distracted, eyes falling on the older lioness as she spoke.

"Playing."

Duh.

Ha, the look on his brother's face! Udahali wasn't fooled by his brother's 'tough' look, nuh uh. As his brother bounded his way he crouched down, tail swishing behind him as he prepared to get into a good old-fashioned wrestling match.

Wait, who was that? Ears flicking forward curiously, he stood up to watch the lioness. "Yeah, playing," he echoed, before continuing, "What're you doing?"

"I was on my way to see my grandchildren.... and it seems I have found at least two of them." Tailsin answered the little cub. She looked at them with a large smile on her face.

"So what are both your names?" She looked at the two boys and smiled. They were defiantly her grandkids as the boys looked so much like her daughter and her mate that she had met recently.

"Where are your siblings?" She looked around but couldn't see any others. She was sure there were at least four cubs. She didn't mind too much though she was happy meeting two for now if need be.

"You have grandkids? Wow, you're really old!"

His nose wrinkled, a paw flopping into the mud as if to emphasis the point. Ha, she was older than his parents! He didn't think anyone was that old.

Oh the things children say. It was a good thing the rabbit hadn't been there to hear him (or his parents for that matter), he'd have certainly heard it for that one. Oh Mahkah, don't you realize that that is -your- grandmother?

But the little cub wasn't thinking about that. He was thinking about that awesome mud puddle he was sitting in and how he was going to splatter his brother with mud!

Pounce! He had coiled on his hind paws and JUMPED, splattering mud everywhere with a squeak of happy laughter.

"They're at home."

...oh wait...uh-oh...

It was then that the thought had occurred to him that she was there to see his mother. Then she was...uh-oh... Suddenly he was looking very sheepish, his head lowered, ears back.

"You...won't tell my mom will you?"

Oh please don't get me in trouble!

It was rather comical, the way Udahali tilted his head at Tailsin in awe in the midst of a 'hunting crouch,' eyes wide. Having grandchildren automatically made her the oldest lion he'd ever seen, and his little head was having trouble wrapping around the concept of being old enough for your children to have children. It wasn't easy, since he didn't know how that happened in the first place. How did mom and dad make him and his siblings? "How--"

SPLAT!

Globs of mud glopped all over Udahali, making him squeak in surprise as he rose up, up, up...and over onto his back, legs flailing.

Tailsin smiled, they thought she was old? It was possible, she was older then her mate but she was pretty certain that she wasn't the oldest in the pride and that at least made her happy. Not that she would have minded, being an elder to the young wasn't always a bad thing.

"Tell your mother?" She smiled, a cheeky looking smile, not one you would possibly expect from your own grandparent and then she did something possibly a little unexpected. She moved towards both young cubs and with a rather graceful movement of her paw made something like a mini tidal wave with the wet muddy puddle getting both youngsters wet.

"Only if you don't." She smiled, it had been so long since she had cubs running around her, she missed it somewhat. Her litter she loved so much but it didn't stop her missing them running around and arguing and getting into trouble.

What the--hey!

He had been sitting there in his mud puddle, wondering just what he was going to say if old grandma tattled on him, and then suddenly he had been splashed! Mud splattered all over his fur and his 'mane' (nevermind that he was -already- covered in mud, that was beside the point). Hmph! What was that for?

The little cub shook, flinging the loose mud from his fur, and hopefully splattering grandma in the process. Ha! Take that! And have a raspberry too, nya!

"Udahali, you look like a turtle!"

Laughing at his brother, Mahkah hopped to the edge of the mud puddle, ah glorious mud.

"You're okay...for a grandma."

Udahali had been dismayed at his predicament, until he found that he was in a perfect position to throw mud at high speed. Quite happy to flail and fling as much mud around as he could, he failed to factor in something important before Tailsin's muddy tidal wave washed over the cubs.

If mud landed all over your face, it could get kind of hard to breathe.

"I do not--sputter--look like--hack--a turtle!" Rolling up onto his feet, Udahali quickly pawed the mud off of his nose before charging after Mahkah.

Tailsin was highly amused at the two cubs she had before her, both now covered in mud and both looking as if they kind of enjoyed it. She couldn't help but chuckle at her grandson's approval as well.

She got some mud on her but she just smiled, it wasn't anything she was overly bothered by after all it was only a little mud. She let the cubs throw mud at each other for a while, just watching them carefully. She would escort them home after they had all finished playing. She knew after all how tired cubs could get after they had played for a while.

Every now and then she flicked her paw letting some more mud fly in the boys direction. They were so cute, Tailsin couldn't help but be proud of Nita for birthing such adorable cubs.

Eep!

Mahkah bounded away from his brother, giggling as he ran to the other side of the mud puddle, pausing long enough to taunt his brother by sticking out his tongue at him.

"Hahaha, Udahali's a turtle, Udahali's a turtle!"

Yipe! Better run again!

"Udahali's a turtle!"

Oh no, his brother was gonna catch him! SCURRYSCURRYSCURRY!

But even if (and when) his brother did catch him, it wouldn't really matter, as the squeal of laughter that would follow proclaimed. It was all about the game, a beautiful day, a granny that was kinda cool, and the mud. Ah the mud, every day should be like this.

Ohhhhhh, that was it! With a quick full-body shake that sent mud flying everywhere, Udahali took off running after his brother!

"I am not a turtle!"

Mahkah would get it when he caught him, yes he would! And then they would wrestle, and laugh, and it would be good.

Tailsin just watched, her grandchildren were so lively, Nita wasn't like that so she decided they must get it from their father or aunt. Chepi would have done that but not in that innocent fun way. No they must get it from their father.

She let out a soft chuckle and laid down, curling her tail around her as she watched the two cubs play. She would escort them home soon before Nita got too worried about them. Cubs would always be cubs though. Strange though how they played about being turtles, it wasn't the usual cub play.
