Anubis is the Egyptian God of mummification and the afterlife. Osiris later took on the role of god of the afterlife. Anubis was later held as the god of mummification and the journey into the afterlife. Bast is the Egyptian Cat-Goddess and is known also as the goddess of ointment, the perfumed goddess, and one of the mother goddesses. Thanks to Aradia Rosethorn for her suggestion of Bast and Anubis

Bast came to me in a dream once it was interesting
Bast as a lioness Originally she was viewed as the protector goddess of Lower Egypt, and consequently depicted as a fierce lion. Thus, by the Middle Kingdom she was generally regarded as a domestic cat rather than a lionness. Occasionally, however, she was depicted holding a lionness mask, which hinted at suppressed ferocity. As a cat/lion goddess, and protector of the lands, when, during the New Kingdom, the fierce lion god Maahes became part of Egyptian mythology, she was identified, in the Lower Kingdom, as his mother. This paralleled the identification of the fierce lion goddess Sekhmet, as his mother in the Upper Kingdom. As divine mother, and more especially as protectress, for Lower Egypt, she became strongly associated with Wadjet, the patron goddess of Lower Egypt, eventually becoming Wadjet-Bast, paralleling the similar pair of patron (Nekhbet) and lioness protector (Sekhmet) for Upper Egypt. Eventually, her position as patron and protector of Lower Egypt, lead to her being identified as the more substantial goddess Mut, whose cult had risen to power with that of Amun, and eventually being absorbed into her as Mut-Wadjet-Bast. Shortly after, Mut also absorbed the identities of the Sekhmet-Nekhbet pairing as well.
Bast as a cat Because domestic cats tend to be tender and protective toward their offspring, Bast was also regarded as a good mother, and she was sometimes depicted with numerous kittens. Consequently, a woman who wanted children sometimes wore an amulet showing the goddess with kittens, the number of which indicated her own desired number of children. Due to the severe disaster to the food supply that could be caused by simple vermin such as mice and rats, and their ability to fight and kill snakes, especially cobras, cats in Egypt were revered heavily, sometimes being given golden jewelry to wear, and being allowed to eat from the same plates as their owners. Consequently, as the main cat (rather than lion) deity, Bast was strongly revered as the patron of cats, and thus it was in the temple at Per-Bast that dead (and mummified) cats were brought for burial. Over 300,000 mummified cats were discovered when Bast's temple at Per-Bast was excavated.

*Squees* I'm so stoked you used my closest deities. Even though I'm not exclusive to the pantheon anymore, I still consider them my mother and father.
Bastet (Ubasti) is a mother goddess. And that means she is a real mother- she's loving but when you screw up, she's not going to clean up your mess. She's going to give you support but don't expect to put in the minimum and get the maximum out of a situation. The one thing that always sticks in my mind about her is her laugh. She's a Goddess who loves music and celebration.
Anubis (Anpu) is a bit harder to form a relationship with. He's very quiet but you feel his love. I always "see" him with his hand on my shoulder, in support of me letting me know he's there. In the afterlife, he guides us through the trials and through the tests on our way to getting our hearts weighed. In life, he guides us through the trials and tests of every day.
I love the artwork btw. Thats the best artwork of them I've ever seen.

I spent quite a while looking for the artwork for them. I really like the artwork I find to be similar in appearance but sometimes I find it hard to find 1 artist who does both the gods I'm looking for lol.

Bast: She is Goddess of sunrise. enlightenment, truth, & civilization; abundance; protector of the home; physical pleasure, sex & erotic dance; fertility & birth. She is also known as a goddess of love, music and dance. Bast is the enlightened Maiden of the Triple Goddess with Isis and Nephthys.A Daughter of the sun god Re, sister of Sekhmet the Lion Goddess, and the Wife of Ptah. She embodies the creator/nurturer/destroyer aspect of the triple goddess [life, death rebirth] Up until 1000 B.C. Bast was a lioness goddess, but began to be depicted as a cat or a woman with a cat's head. As she was a goddess of fertility, there was sometimes kittens at her feet.
Anubis:Anubis is the Greek name for a jackal-headed god associated with mummification and the afterlife in Egyptian mythology. In the ancient Egyptian language, Anubis is known as Inpu, (variously spelled Anupu, Ienpw etc.). The oldest known mention of Anubis is in the Old Kingdom pyramid texts, where he is associated with the burial of the Pharaoh. At this time, Anubis was the most important god of the Dead but he was replaced during the Middle Kingdom by Osiris.

Bast is my primary personal Goddess. I have been told that is odd because I am a guy and Bast is more often followed by women, but She has always felt right to me. She also chose to appear to me in visions and mental images in a rather unusual form which I got an artist to do a 3D image of for me which I will post here. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e332/Sailorrob/temple2.jpg I know this is rather non traditional but She is a Goddess and I won't question Her reasons for appearing to me like this. To me this image reflects a lot of what She represents. The sword is the reflection of Her more warrior like aspects, the way a mother would protect her children. The pose and outfit are obviously reflections of Her sexual nature, while at the same time it is reflective of a potential dance pose which is something that is important to Her. Her skin is that of the black cat while still being human. The ears and tail are part of the cat and the tail is curled to denote a playful side as anyone who lives with cats would recognize. Her hair is supposed to be golden not blonde. She was known as a golden Goddess often times and Her hair looked like it was made from the rays of the sun in the visions I have had. That part is hard to capture in art. This image of Her is very important to me, but if She is not the Bast you know thats perfectly fine. She is a Goddess after all She can look like whatever she wants to smile I have been following Her long enough to know She is Bast and that She cares about me. I use Her for inspiration in my art and I have an amulet of her next to my computer.
