I joined Gaia in 2004, so I've been here for six years. Six very long years. My time has been great; I've met some amazing people, helped spin some awesome stories, watched people come together and drift apart. I wouldn't trade the time I spent for anything else.
But that time has come to a close, unfortunately. With other projects taking priority, impending military missions, and school/work taking up what little time I have left, I truly feel (and not because of Darius' not-so-subtle urging) that my time as your commander is up.
I'm proud of what I've done so far. When MDG had to leave, I took the initiative and stepped up, taking control and rebuilding. For a while, I think we did alright. We certainly all have our battle scars from trying to make the League work, but for the moment, we can look back on the past, laugh, yell, or cry as we see fit. I built a moderately successful newspaper that had two guild spotlights on the main page, and started/participated in more RPs than I could ever count.
Since my daily time spent on Gaia began to wane, another member took the initiative and stepped up, taking control and rebuilding. It is now time for that person to be recognized for all he has done for the League, and be given the position that he has long deserved.
As of this day, I step down from my position as Commander and pass the baton forward to another. But before I return to the rank of Command Sergeant Major, I have but one more task ahead of me, one that I will only be able to do once more, though I've done it many times in the past.

Attention to orders! The Gaian Mercenary League has placed special trust and confidence in the fidelity, courage, ingenuity, loyalty, and respect of The_Master_Wielder. His actions reflect well upon the Gaian Mercenary League, and Gaia itself. To that end, control of the guild will be passed to him, and his status will be upgraded from Vice-Captain to Commander effective immediately. At ease.

Well sir, while I can't say that this is a surprise, we will miss you. You were an excellent commander, keeping Gaian Mercenary League alive through trying times. We will obey your final orders and place our trust in The_Master_Wielder as your successor and our Commander. We shall not violate your trust in us to carry on your work. *salute*
And if I may be the first to say this. Major General High Templar Damian Olivander of Middle Sickle Highlands of Terringer reporting for duty under Commander Wielder, sir!

Sigh... I knew this day would be coming soon enough.
Gear. In my GML Codex for Warhammer 40K, You're still the Leader. That aint changing.
Also, I know I don;t do this often enough, but, *Snaps to attention. Giving Gear and WIelder their own salutes, respectively*

Well I can't say that I was extremely close to you personally Gear, but it is always sad to see a good leader step down from his position.
*Takes off hat (which is suspiciously missing from the current avi) to hold over heart. Then salutes*

Awww! Sad to see you go, but I know RL trumps all, in the end. Though my time here has been only 7+ months long, it's been grand having you as grand poobah of us bunch of ruffians, Gear!
*clips off a crisp, proper salute*
Thanks for leading us into the fray...
...and welcome to da new bawss! Congrats Wielder! biggrin

Weilder, no one deserves this more, congratulations. You've inherited a big responsibility, but I'm sure you're more than capable.
Gear, I hope you are going to be around to role-play and such. You now join me in the ranks of former commanders. xd

Aye, I know it, MDG. And you all know I won't squander it. But thank you all for your support, it means a lot to me. But now I get to be the grand poobah of a bunch of ruffians! (Rofl @Zari)
And It's time to move forward. In the last 36 Hours, I've been working hard to get everything set up and ready for the new members, and adapted to the Gravite Decisions. You'll notice that Xeg and Sagi have been made my Vice Captains, the guild home page has an application on it (WANT FEEDBACK!!!), Darius has redone the Haven, I've redone the DWM, some departments have been scrapped, and I've cleaned up a lot of threads that, otherwise, just looked like clutter. There's more work to do, still, but I guarantee it'll get done.
Over the next few days, a few things will change. If anyone has any questions on it, as always, feel free to ask.
There's more to do, still, but I guarantee it'll get done.
...Feels like a campaign slogan or something, amiright?

Well done Wielder, you've absolutely deserved this. There isn't a doubt in my mind that you are a worthy successor.
As you do Gear, you've deserved this upcoming period of rest. It's been an honor and a privilege to have served under you since the OG Merc League. Best of luck on your future endeavors.
*Salutes*

Good Luck, Gear, and to whereever your travels take you. *salutes in the usual Evainian manner*
And like the phoenix, and I mean this in an almost literal manner in the sense of fire, the torch has been passed. The role of Commander being reborn within Wielder. I congratulate you. *again, saluting Wielder.*
