Haunting Memories
Chapter One; The Princess Slave
“Please.” A woman begged her light eyes stared up at a man,who wore armor and a sun and moon markings. His dark eyes stared down at the woman, his face unreadable, she held out a young babe. She lived in a village far from the city, where the man lived. “Please, take my child.” The woman begged as tears shimmered in her eyes. The babe stirred slightly, she was covered from head to foot in a pink blanket, her eyes fluttered open and big red eyes stared at the man, she didn’t seem to fear him nor know what to do about his presence. So she looked at the man and giggled as she blew bubbles. “Take her, please.” The woman pleaded, the man didn’t know what to do. “Her name is Daciana.” The woman said as she stared at him, finally the man reached for the babe and took her into his arms, his dark eyes stared in slight wonderment at the small child, when suddenly a small mouse-looking man rushed up to him.
“Your highness, your wife, she’s given birth,” The mouse-looking man said as he panted. “She gave birth to a girl.” The woman stared at the man, with a weak smile. She knew that he’d been married with multiple women and she was just fine with that, since she was also sort of married to him. “Uhm, sir?” With out a word the man turned, with babe in arms and started walking away. “Sir!” the mouse-looking man said as he rushed after him.
“Take good care of my girl, Bartholomew!” The woman called after him.
Bartholomew walked from the small village with the babe in his arms, the mouse-looking man walked behind him.
“I’d think it’s best if you drop that babe and leave it for the wolves, my lord.” The mouse-looking man said as he eyed the babe. Bartholomew stopped abruptly and stared at him.
“This babe is my flesh and blood daughter. My first born daughter.” Bartholomew hissed and the mouse-man squeaked and shrank away.
“I am sorry, my lord.” The mouse-man said softly before they continued walking in silence. Upon reaching the city, they walked silently in the shadowed back routes; not wanting to raises suspicion with the common folk. Bartholomew stood in front of his lavished castle, he sighed and shook his head as he walked in, three maids walked up to him, he handed the babe off to one of them.
“Take her to the slave quarters with in the castle.” He said simply and left with out another word.
The maid took the babe into her room and laid her on the bed, the babe gurgled and blew bubbles before laughing softly, her red eyes glowing as she laughed.
“What is your name little one, I wonder.” The maid said when suddenly the mouse-looking man walked in.
“Avian.” The mouse-looking man said as he stared at the maid. “The babe’s name is Daciana.”
“I suppose, Master Bartholomew named her.” Avian said as she unwrapped the babe and gasped. “She’s—”
“A lycanith?” The mouse-looking man said as he stared at the babe. The babe had thick dark hair and two wolf ears twitching at the top of her head, a small wolf pup tail was resting at the side of her. “I wouldn’t really much, uncover her around anyone.”
“I see why not.” Avian said as she wrapped the babe again. “Daciana of slaves.”
“Daciana of Shadows.” The mouse-looking man laughed. “Shadow Wolves, what can you do with them.”
“Don’t let Master Bartholomew catch you sayin’ that.” Avian said and shook her head. “He has a soft spot for them Shadow Wolves.”
“That Shadow Wolf woman begged and pleaded so Master Bartholomew—”
“That’s enough, Xir.” Bartholomew’s voice boomed and they turned to see him. “Avian, Xir, you both may leave me and young Daciana, alone.”
“Yes, sir.” Avian said as she bowed and left.
“Yes, sir.” Xir said but hesitated before leaving. Bartholomew stared down at the babe with a meek smile.
“You’re going to remind me of my her, young Daciana.” Bartholomew said as he stared at his daughter. “It was a grand deed I did for your mother, to bad she won’t live to see you grow up.” The babe blew bubbles and giggled, Bartholomew unwrapped the babe and stared at her, wolf ears and a tail. “You are very strange, my dear daughter. But you are mine and I suppose that only matters.” He reached down and touched her ears softly, the babe giggled and grabbed his large hand in both of her small hands and held on. “I—” he couldn’t finish his sentence as he stared at her; she was small, vulnerable and weak. But she’ll grow and he swore that he’d make her strong and tough. “Celest. Nebula.” He barked.
Two twin girls appeared beside him. “You barked.” They said in unison.
“I put this child in your custody.” Bartholomew said as he stared at the babe, his hand still being held by the babe’s small hands. “Keep her safe like you would your own child,”
“You got it boss.” Celest said with a cheerful smile while Nebula looked not too pleased.
“I am counting on you girls.” Bartholomew said as he slowly pulled his hand away from the babe’s grip. The babe lets go easily but she stared up at him, wide red eyed and a bright smile. He didn’t smile back at the babe; he just walked away and stopped at the doorframe. “Thanks, Celest and Nebula.” He said softly before walking away.
“Come back, Daciana!” Celest shouted as a small two-year-old girl ran threw the halls giggling; she rounded a corner and ran into someone’s leg. She fell backwards and landed on her butt. She whimpered as tears gathered at her eyes before she let out a sob. “Daci—” Celest rushed towards her and picked her up, Daciana rubbed her eyes as she sobbed. “I’m terribly sorry, Barthy.” Celest said and smiled sheepishly. He didn’t say anything as he stared at the girl. “Did mean ol’ Barthy scare you, Daciana?”
“Kiya neichi, caiyia Celest.” Yes he did, auntie Celest. The girl said softly as she clung to Celest’s neck.
“It’s all right, Daciana.” Celest said as she snuggled into to her, Daciana giggled and stared up at Bartholomew.
“Celest, put her in the stables.” Bartholomew suddenly said before he strode away, Celest hesitated before she carried young Daciana outside and into the stables, and that was the last time Daciana was allowed back in the castle with out being ordered too.
Daciana, now thirteen, lay in the loft above a stable with her horse, Midnight. Her eyes half-closed as she thought about her day, it’d been hectic but nothing out of the ordinary.
“Oik, natashiku!” Hey, it’s raining! A woman’s voice shouted from inside the barn, Daciana blinked and propped herself on her elbow and stared over to were the woman was, she was looking out side of the stable, staring at the down pour.
“Neiti nakashina!” The ancestors are crying! Another woman shouted and Daciana snorted as she went back to lying down on the soft straw mattress.
“Noika naishi koyshiko neihkouy.” As long as I don’t get wet, I’m fine. Daciana said loudly for all of the maids to hear.
“Daciana, kayia neihti lotoyi.” Daciana, you’re so weird. A maid grunted as she stared over at her.
“Kiya.” Yes. Daciana yawned as she closed her eyes.
“Noi, noi. Alina kayinashi noitoki kah neita?” Anyways. Have you heard, Alina found her ‘other.’ A maid whispered to another one, which made Daciana prop herself on her elbow again and stare down at them.
“Oika?” Really? The maid said surprised. “Nitaih koishka?” How’s that possible?
“Lotoyshika, Bartholomew ne Simaneti.” Rumors say that Almighty Bartholomew helped. The maid said with a fine smirk. “Oik! Daciana, neiti kajine!” Hey, Daciana, you’re in trouble now!
“Feh. Noitashi nemika koyine takiriashi!” Feh. That’s just a rumour and there is no way she’s stronger then I! Daciana shouted angrily as she sat up completely. “Besides.” She spoke in English even though she knew most of them didn’t know that language. “If I heard correctly, Lord Bartholomew is looking for the maids who stole from him, eh Erika?” the maid named Erika stared hard at her, she and another one knew English, but the rest stared at them slightly confused. “Noyshi, iya toika neisho, tikayi onnetashi, neh Erika?” Daciana repeated what she had said in the slave language and they gasped as they stared at Erika and her.
“Daciana Of Slaves!” A male shouted and he burst into the stables, soaking wet.
“Itaki? Ishitata?” What? What now? Daciana groaned as she jumped off the loft and landed in front of the man.
“Lord Bartholomew is requesting for your presses in the throne room.” The man said and Daciana frowned as she rubbed her forehead.
“Okay.” Daciana said and looked over at Midnight, who neighed and snorted. “Sorry girl, but I gatta go for now.” Midnight neighed again and Daciana walked behind the man, they ran threw the muddy walk way and reached the castle, as they entered two maids walked up to them and handed them thick wool towels. Daciana covered her head with the thick towel and rubbed it on her hair as she tried to dry it before she tugged her slave dress off her and wrapped the thick wool towel around her small frame, the man stared at her slightly disgusted, she wasn’t fully developed like other maids, but she was still…cute… as they walked down a narrow walkway Daciana glanced around, her eyes never missing a beat as she tensed as they neared the throne room. The man handed his towel to a maid by the door and Daciana didn’t as they walked into the room. Bartholomew sat on the throne looking rather bored and beside him; a gloomy picture of him sat the princess, staring on ahead.
“My lord!” The man boomed as he stepped forward while Daciana stayed near the door, ready to bolt if they attacked. “I bring you, Daciana of Slaves.”
“Thank you, Xir, please leave us.” Bartholomew said as he stared mainly at Daciana, who didn’t meet his gaze. Xir nodded and left them; Daciana lifted her gaze from the ground and stared back at him.
“You called me, sir?” Daciana growled her question, though resisted to snarl at them.
“Ah, yes, my young eldest daughter.” Bartholomew said as he rose, the princess rose as well, but didn’t comment.
“Your eldest daughter?” Daciana questioned as she frowned, red eyes glimmering with confusion. Suddenly the pressure she’d been feeling almost her entire life vanished, she fell to the ground and gasped as suddenly a long auburn wolf tail appeared slightly hidden by the towel and two adorable wolven ears appeared on her head. “What is this?” Daciana questioned again as she touched her ‘new’ ears and tail, but to her surprise they were real, they were apart of her, she felt an odd sense of completeness.
“I’d just release the spell one of the spell-casters put on you.” Bartholomew said softly as he moved towards her again, Daciana stood abruptly as she rose her fist slightly, almost being ready to fight. “Oh, Daciana.”
“Neika ishi netonami!” Stay the hell away! Daciana snarled as she backed away from him, suddenly ten teens walked from the shadows. Daciana’s gaze locked with each ones, Bartholomew sighed as he backed away and sat back down, the princess did as well.
“Alina, what do you think?” Bartholomew asked.
“Kill her,” Alina said, her voice so emotionless it made them shiver. The ten teens smirked as they charged at her, Daciana growled as she backed up slightly and pressed her back against the wall, before she snarled angrily, something inside of her shifted, changed and made her aggressive, her red eyes sparked wildly as she flashed her newly formed razor sharp fangs.
“Who will save you now?” Daciana’s voice wasn’t much of her own. Her eyes weren’t hers either, but her body and her red eyes were hers, she flashed her fangs once again before she dodged a strike, she laughed as she appeared behind the attackers. “Seriously? Child.” She said before she struck that place in the neck that would knock anyone out. The teen fell unconscious, the rest resumed their attack, and before each one of them dropped out cold. She laughed as she whirled to face Bartholomew.
“Ah, Veronica, I wondered when you’d show up.” Bartholomew said as he stared, something vanished from Daciana’s eyes, as suddenly a woman materialized beside her, Daciana coughed as she fell to the floor, dazed. The woman looked boredly at Bartholomew, her red eyes glittering as she stared.
“My lord.” Veronica said as she glanced down at Daciana with pity in her red eyes. “You forced me to wake way before this whelp is even strong enough, why?”
“I need you to keep her strong enough to withstand her training.” Bartholomew said agitated with her.
“As you wish, my lord.” Veronica said before she bowed and dissolved, Daciana gasped as she felt Veronica’s pressure inside of her body, before it went away completely.
“Raise, young Daciana.” Bartholomew said and Daciana obeyed, she rose though didn’t meet his eyes. “Raise, guardians.” All ten of the teens suddenly rose and knelt in front of him. “Binjion, Saisho, Lilith, Jir, Serenity, Jackal, Noir, Nate, Luna and Jin, you are now under the servitude of my eldest daughter, Daciana of the Shadows.”
“Yes sir.” They all said in unison before they stood and turned to face Daciana.
“Escort Daciana back to the stables, Binjion and Saisho, it’s your shift to watch over her.” Bartholomew said, “After that trade off.”
“Yes, sir.” They said again before they walked away with Daciana fallowing closely behind, a young man walked from the shadows, blue eyes shimmering with mock laughter.
“So that the one I am guarding?” The young man said as he turned to face Bartholomew, “I’m her soul guardian?”
“Yes, Shadow, that is she.” Bartholomew said and sighed, “just keep out of sight from her for a while. Well until she grows of age then.”
“Your wish is my command, my lord.” Shadow said before he bowed and retreated into the shadows once again.
It was still raining as they made their way back to the stables, Daciana groaned as she burst into the stables dripping wet, she’d to admit, all of her male guardians looked rather hot when they were wet, the girls, not that much.
“The rest of you, the guardian rooms are not far from here, I suggest you run.” Saisho said as his lavender green eyes shimmered with laughter, they all groaned as they ran out side, Binjion laughed as he shook his head like a dog, getting the water to go everywhere, Saisho laughed as well as he ran a hand threw his thick black hair and looked over at Daciana, who started to change into dry and warm servant clothing, “Do you always change in front of men?” Saisho asked as he leaned against a post.
“Feline, I change where I damn please.” Daciana snorted with out even looking at him.
“Ouch, you wound me, princess.” Saisho joked and Daciana whirled to face him then, her red eyes a flame with anger, she’d gone back to looking like a regular human, for now.
“I am not a princess.” Daciana hissed, “I am Daciana of Slaves. Or just plain Daciana.”
“How about Daci?” Binjion asked as he walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders to pull her close to him, she elbowed his stomach and stomped on his foot, Binjion fell backward with a yelped of pain and Saisho laughed, Daciana walked up the latter to her loft. “Well?”
“Well what?” Daciana snapped as she lay in her straw mattress and pulled up wool blanket and snuggled into it with a soft yawn.
“Can we call you Daci?” Binjion said as he climbed the stairs and stared at her.
“Sure.” Daciana said as she smiled lightly at him, Binjion smiled as he pulled himself up and sat at the edge of the loft. “Well, I don’t give a damn where you sleep, but you better let me sleep or we’ll have problems.”
“Night, princess.” Saisho said with a smile and Daciana smiled back slightly blushing before she looked away and closed her eyes, Binjion blew out a lantern and sighed.

A week had past and Daciana was at the training ground with two of her new guardians, Jir and Serenity.
“Come on, Daciana, you have to block!” Jir shouted at her, as Serenity struck Daciana and sent her flying, she hit the side of the stables hard and flopped onto her stomach, hitting her head on a rock. Daciana pushed herself up and shook her head, trying to clear the daze. “Daciana, are you alright?”
“Yeah, I think so.” Daciana muttered softly as she sat up and rubbed her head. “Well that was fun.” Daciana said brightly as she jumped up to her feet and rushed Serenity and punched him square in the jaw. Serenity twirled before he fell to the ground groaning, Jir laughed as he walked up to Daciana and laid a soft kiss at her cheek before he looked over at Serenity.
“Boy, get up.” Jir snorted as he watched the male rise slowly and face Daciana with laughter in his mixed colored eyes. Serenity ran a hand threw his hair and shook his head with a sigh.
“You’re stronger then you look, my princess.” Serenity said softly as he looked over at the horizon. “Evening, Lilith.” He called out as a young woman approached them.
“Hello, Serenity.” Lilith said as she stood by Daciana with a half smile.
“Temptress.” Jir snorted, slightly annoyed.
“Oh. Hello, Snake.” Lilith said with disgust laced in her voice.
“Uhm, y’all hate each other?” Daciana asked as she stared at them.
“Not hate, more or less, dislike.” Lilith said with a brilliant smile.
“Sure, kiss up to the boss, Lilith.” Jir snorted as he wrapped his arm around Daciana.
“What about you? Mr. Flirtatious.” Lilith laughed as she stared at him.
“Ugh, its time for the girls to do a full make-over with Daciana.” Serenity said as he got Jir to step away from Daciana.
“I’ll be seeing ye, Daciana.” Jir said as both he and Serenity started to walk away. “Come over to the Guardian house for dinner, Daciana!” Jir called over his shoulder before they left. Lilith and Luna, who barely walked up to them, took a hold of Daciana’s arm and led her away towards the stables.
“Since, you’re going to eat with us tonight, we’re going to help you dress for the occasion.” Luna said as she ran her hand down Daciana’s back and smiled lightly as she watched Daciana shiver.
“True that, Luna.” Lilith said as she walked up to Daciana’s room and frowned as she went threw the chest full of servant gowns. “Babe, do you have dressing gowns?”
“Uhm, Lilith, I’m a servant, I only have servant gowns.” Daciana said as she stared hard at them, slightly annoyed.
“Well then, you must surely borrow some of Lilith’s gowns then.” Luna said with a light smile.
Daciana sat at the head of the table, wearing an eccentric blue and red gown, her hair was pulled up painfully. Saisho and Binjion sat on each side of her, and the others sat in order. Saisho smiled slightly as he raised his goblet in the air. “Let us toast.” Saisho said with a bright smile. “To our mistress, Daciana!”
“Please,” Daciana said, her red eyes glittering slightly with embarrassment. “I’m not—”
“Don’t be to modest, Daci!” Lilith shouted as she gulped the liquid from her goblet.
“I—”
“Yeah, Daci,” Jackal said as he raised his goblet to her. “You’re going to be a great mistress!”
“But—”
“Come on, Daci, drink up!” Noir said and Daciana stared around them, their eyes were unfocused and they were laughing.
God, their drunk, Daciana thought as she stared around them.
“You guys,” Luna said as she stared at them, “Really? You guys are all drunkards!”
“Luna, are they always like this?” Daciana asked her.
“Not really, ma’am, only on special occasions.” Luna winked. “Do not worry, I made sure that your goblet was filled with grape water.”
“Thank you, Luna.” Daciana said with a warm smile as she took a sip of her grape water.
“Okay!” Lilith sputtered a laugh as she tried to sip her wine. “Let’s eat before we are to drunk to even do such a easy task!” Jackal laughed as well.
“Servant, go and fetch us some food!” Noir shouted at the kitchen and Daciana suddenly rose, knowing her place, she started towards the kitchen. “Daciana?” Everyone turned to look at her.
“Daciana, what are you doing?” Binjion said as he rose as well.
“I’m going to fetch the food.” Daciana said as she swallowed the lump in her throat.
“Daciana, you are our guest. Sit.” Lilith said as she stared at her.
“Yes, Daci, please sit down.” Noir said as Jir and Serenity frowned.
“It’s in her nature to do work.” Jir said softly. “Poor dear.”
“Yes, poor dear.” Serenity sighed. “Now, Elijah, bring us our meal. If you please.” Elijah, along with eleven other maids came over and placed their meal in front of them, along with the roast pig, and roasted fowl.
Daciana reluctantly sat down as she watched everyone staring at her. “Shall I say grace?”
“If you wish, my princess.” Noir said with a polite smile. Daciana looked down at her plate, filled with meats, green vegetables and potatoes, before she looked up at the rest of her guardians.
She nodded to herself as she took a hold of Binjion’s and Saisho’s hand, they in turn grabbed the hands near them. “We give thanks to our Lord Bartholomew for providing us with this meal, and I give thanks to my father for providing us with this wine, for the land that give us great joy to live in each and every day. In our prayers he stays, blessed are we. Amen.”
“Amen.” They all said in unison.
“Now, lets eat!” Noir shouted as he dunged into his plate, Daciana picked up her fork and played with hers while everyone else ate and talked.
“What is wrong, princess?” Saisho said as he looked at her. “You’re not hungry?”
“I’ve never eaten this fancy before.” Daciana said honestly, “I guess I’m just overwhelmed.” Daciana smiled politely as she started eating.
“No!” Lilith spurted as she laughed. “Really? Their coming into town?”
“Yes!” Noir laughed. “Me and Jir decided to dress Serenity up as a girl and make them fall in love with him, before telling them that she is actually a he!”
“That’s rightfully mean!” Jackal laughed. “Serves them right, though.”
“No doubt, Jackal!” Noir laughed.
“What about me?” Serenity pouted. “I’m the one who’s going to be gettin’ dressed up like a girl.” He pouted and snorted. “I don’t think I would look good with a dress and long hair, I mean, I don’t have long hair.”
“What about a wig?” Lilith said as she waved her goblet around, wine spilling slightly.
“What? No!” Serenity shouted. “Don’t give them—”
“A blond wig!” Noir shouted.
“Yeah, a blond wig!” Jir agreed. “With a bright pink dress and a ruby necklace, rouge lips and his lovely blue eyes!”
“What about me?” Daciana asked attentively. “Am I coming along?”
“Daciana, you want to come?” Jir asked. “I mean, this is a festival for the Sha—”
“Jir.” Lilith shouted, “Do not say a word.” Jir stared at Lilith and nodded.
“Daciana, you can’t come with us, because you’re going to stay behind with Binjion and Jackal and train.” Noir said with a frown. “Maybe next year.”
“Of course.” Daciana said as she glanced down at her plate and ate silently.
“Miss Daciana.” Elijah came over to her. “Lord Bartholomew is requesting your presences after the meal.” She whispered.
“Okay, thank you, Elijah.” Daciana said.
“No problem, miss.” Elijah said before she left.
“What was that about?” Noir asked.
“Hmm? Oh, the lord wishes to speak to me after our meal.” Daciana said as she smiled.
“Okay, well we should finish up, then.” Noir said as they began to eat.
It was nearing midnight when Saisho escorted Daciana into the main hall of the castle. A maid then escorted her into the main throne room before they left, leaving her, still wearing the gown from the meal, in front of her father. She was scared as she stared at her father. “My, my, look at you, you’re stunning.” Bartholomew said as he stared at her.
Daciana blushed and glanced away. “Lilith let me barrow her gown, sir.”
“I see, now.” Bartholomew said with a sheepish smile. “You really do look stunning.”
“Thank you.” Daciana said. “You called me in for what reason, sir?”
“Oh, yes,” Bartholomew rose and walked down the steps to the throne, as he walked in front of her. “Please join me on a walk.”
“Of course.” Daciana said and they started walking around the castle.
“Daciana, the festival of shadows is coming into town, the dawn of the morrow, and I do not want you to be there.”
“Why not, father?” Daciana said, startling Bartholomew when she said father.
“Because, you’re a young lady and the festival of shadows are for adults, there be lots of drink and gypsies and also Ladies of the night, do you understand?” Bartholomew said.
“Yes, father.” Daciana said. “But when I am the age of sixteen, then will I be able to see the festival of Shadows?” Daciana looked hopeful.
“I may think about it, my dearest.” Bartholomew said and nodded. “Well then, get some sleep, you have training.”
“Yes, sir.” Daciana said as nodded. “Good-bye sir.” Bartholomew nodded as a maid escorted Daciana out to the main hall before Saisho escorted her back to the stables.
“What did you and your father talk about?” Saisho asked as Daciana growled in frustration as she un-pined her hair.
“Mind helping me abit?” Daciana said as she grasped the post and Saisho laughed as he un-did the ribbons and laces of the gown. “We talked about the upcoming festival, he band me from going.”
Saisho was half way down and he stopped. “Oh? I am sorry that you won’t get to see it, Daci, but I’ll bring you back a gown if you’d like.”
Daciana glanced back with a smile. “I’d love that, Saisho.”
“I know you would, I’ll ask Lilith or Luna to help me pick it out.” Saisho said before a maid walked in on them.
“Daciana Shadow!” the maid shrieked. “What are you—?”
“I am just getting undressed so I can dress in my night gowns.” Daciana growled in frustration.
“But with a man around?” The maid shouted and stalked up to her grabbing Daciana’s arm and hauling her outside.
“Madame, please. You don’t understand.” Saisho said as he fallowed them outside.
“No! You don’t understand, sir. She’s only thirteen!” the maid shouted. “You are very wicked sir!”
“Me? Wicked! The very idea!” Saisho said stunned. “What are you going to do with her?”
“What I should do to you, sir! I am going to whip her in stead of you, since I know who you really are.” The maid said.
“Oh? And who am I?” Saisho said as the maid shoved her onto the ground and got a rather large whip.
“You are Guardian Hubyoku.” The maid said as she raised the whip above her shoulder. “Now, get out of my way, master Hubyoku.”
“If you must.” Saisho said as he backed away with his arms raised. Daciana blinked as she suddenly felt the sting of the whip, she let out a cry of pain, before the second, she steeled herself for the four or five more whips, tears ran down her cheeks but she never made a sound. When the maid was satisfied she coiled the whip and went to put it back. “Luna!” Saisho shouted. The young woman ran towards him, she skitted to a stop beside him.
“You called, Sai?” Luna said before she glanced at Daciana and gasped.
“Help me bring her inside of the stables.” Saisho said as he knelt down and picked Daciana up, Luna rushed to open wide the stable door and Saisho went inside; he laid Daciana down on her loft face down. “Luna, go and get me a bucket of cold water and a rag, now!”
“Got it, boss.” Luna said as she rushed out.
“Oh, I am so very sorry, Daciana.” Saisho said as he pulled away the blood soaked dress, he laid a blanket over her butt and stared at the scars and fresh whip marks on her back. “Daciana.”
“It’s not your fault.” Daciana said as she gripped her straw mattress tightly. “I’m a slave, slaves get whipped to be showed their place, and I’m use to it.”
“But, you’re a princess!” Saisho said just as Luna came back with a bucket and a rag.
“Here you go, Saisho.” Luna said as she set the bucket and rag beside Saisho.
“Thank you, Luna.” Saisho said with a soft smile, as he dunked the rag into the bucket of cool water before he started to clean the wounds on Daciana’s back.
Daciana was now sixteen, three years had passed since her first encounter with her guardians, she still got punished but more often then not.
“Daciana!” A maid shouted and Daciana peeked out from the stables, dressed in her servant gown, her hair pulled back into a low ponytail. “Where are you?”
“In the stables, Marie!” Daciana shouted as she walked out, carrying a bucket of soapy water, she had fully grown out, curves that men would love, though they fear her for her red eyes.
“Lord Bartholomew is asking for your presences in the main hall of the castle!” Marie shouted. “Daciana, go and get dressed.”
“But I still have my chores to do, I can’t. Tell Lord Bartholomew that I am to busy.” Daciana said as she walked back into the stables, and into the horses’ stables as she started to clean them.
“Daciana, it’s Lord Bartholomew, you can not disobey any order from him!” Marie said.
“Okay.” Daciana said as she dropped her bucket. “I’ll change into my best gown and go.”
“Good.” Marie said primly as she left.
“Binjion.” Daciana shouted and Binjion appeared by her side.
“You called, my lady?” Binjion said.
“I need you to help me out.” Daciana said as she tugged her servant gown over her head and dropped it beside her, she walked over to her chest of gowns and knelt down looking for gowns. Binjion watched her trying so hard not to do anything to her, he along with the other nine guardians had grown up with Daciana, since she was thirteen, but now that she’s sixteen and fully developed; he had a hard time not staring at her.
“W-with what, ma’am?” Binjion said as he locked gazes with the pole.
“Help me lace up my gown of course,” Daciana said as she started to put on her silk drawers, and petticoats, as she slips up her corset, Binjion walked up to her and grabbed the laces and starts to lace up the corset as tight as he could, before she slips on her ruby red and blue gown, she’d got from the Festival of Shadow when she was thirteen, thanks to Saisho and Luna. Binjion gulped as he attentively walked towards her and starts to lace up the gown, Daciana winced as she started to breathe shallowly, Binjion knelt and grabbed a red long scarf and wrapped it around her waist.
“Why are you getting dressed up for, Daciana?” Binjion asked as she turned and leaned back against the post with a soft smile.
“I’m going to see father.” Daciana said as Binjion closed the gap between them.
“That’s the only reason?” Binjion asked.
“The council will be there, I must be dressed like a princess, sort of.” Daciana said as she stared at him.
“May I walk you there?” Binjion asked and Daciana nodded, Binjion bit his lip and took a step back, “Okay.” He said as he stared at her and cleared his throat. Still staring at her a soft smile spread over her lips.
“Is there something you want?” She asked him, tilting her head slightly as she stared at him.
“Stop being so adorable?” Binjion said with a laugh, Daciana rolled her eyes as she brushed past him.
“Sorry, dear, I can’t.” Daciana said as she stalked out of the stables with Binjion behind her.
Daciana sat at the table, third seat from her father, beside her was a royal man from a different family, his green eyes were dull, and as he talked non-stop about the village he’d conquered, Daciana stared at her plate that contained lobster, fried vegetables and potatoes. On her left was another royal man, who blabbed about the many competitions he’d won the past summer. Binjion, the only guardian that was guarding Daciana, stayed stock still by the entrance, his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze unwavering as he stared at the wall like a soldier. A few more guardians were stationed in the room, the royal guardians. Daciana reached for her crystal glass filled with red wine and took a sip, as she tried to drown out the males talking.
“Daciana, what do you think?” The male on her right spoke up, Daciana blinked and looked at him with a sheepish smile.
“About what?” She asked, it was in her nature to be, brutal and honest.
“About the upcoming Festival of Shadows.” He said, staring at her, his green eyes suddenly sparking with annoyance.
“I don’t know, I haven’t seen the Festival of Shadows as of late, so I really can’t say anything.” Daciana said, as politely as she could.
“You wouldn’t like it, Daciana,” The other male said. “You see, there are lots of whores and a pretty lady of noble blood shouldn’t be near them,”
“Oh? And pray why not?” Daciana asked, her tone slightly challenging.
“Because, a woman of noble birth, is to mighty for them to be near, and besides, men get drunk, they don’t distinguish between a whore or a proper lady.” The blue-eyed man spoke. “And a proper young woman, has to stay in side of the home.”
“A blue-blood woman.” Daciana said primly, Bartholomew stared at her intensely; enjoying the fact that he had now realized that his daughter had his temper. “I do tend to stay inside of the home, thank you very much, I need to catch up on my reading.”
“Oh? You read.” A real blue blood woman spoke, her voice held venom.
“Oh, yes, I do.” Daciana said as she stared down at the other woman. “Romance is my life, as is historical novels, Shakespeare is one of my favorite authors, his work is marvelous.” The other woman bristled and narrowed her gaze at Daciana. “The play, Romeo and Juliet, was one of my favorites, actually.” Daciana continued. “I mean, Noble blood marrying into the common class, is a true romantic experience, don’t you think?”
“I would never lower myself to marry into the common class, Juliet, had no idea of what she was thinking.” The blue blood woman spoke primly. “She was in fact only sixteen.”
“Ah, but they both died in the end, ma’am, Romeo died because he had thought his beloved Juliet was dead, and Juliet died because Romeo was dead.” Daciana said primly, her red eyes shimmering with a challenge. “True love, as one might say.”
“Who needs true love, when you can have money.” The woman spoke.
“Are you married?” Daciana suddenly asked.
“Why yes, I am.” The woman responded.
“Is your husband here with you? Or did your bring your lover?” Daciana said as she stared at the man beside of the woman. “He doesn’t look like a man who is married.” The woman’s brow knitted, her lips twitched.
“You are very observant, Daciana.” The man beside the woman said. “If you were a man that would have been a grand gift.”
“Thank you, sir. I think.” Daciana said as she bowed her head modestly. “But I must beg your pardon.”
“For what, my dear?” The man asked.
“Are you or are you not, the woman’s lover?” Daciana asked as she motioned at the woman beside him.
“Madame Vivian is indeed married to Mr. Welch, I am Jonathan McHenry, and I am Vivian’s lover.” The man said with a slight smile.
“Thank you.” Daciana said. “You see, father, the reason why I called it out, was because, Vivian Welch, doesn’t love her husband, but she is in love with Jonathan McHenry, but McHenry doesn’t want her, he wants Sasha, the young maid in the corner.” They turned to see the maid coming back with a pitcher full of wine. “I can tell, just by the way he looks at her, McHenry, you know Sasha?”
McHenry gulped and casted his gaze at his plate, “She’s, uh, she’s the personal maid of Vivian.”
“Had you bed young Sasha?” Daciana asked, her red eyes twinkling.
“I—”
“No, he has not.” Vivian snapped. “Jonathan, don’t let that, that horrid creature get to you.”
“I’m horrid now?” Daciana said with a smirk. “You see that father! I am horrid creature! A step up from a thing now!” A sharp laugh, “No, ma’am I am not a horrid creature, I just see between the lines. I bet Jonathan had bedded Sasha, along with your kitchen help and her daughter.”
“Are you calling Jonathan a man whore?” Vivian bristled.
“Hm? Oh for heavens sake, he does to them what he can’t do to you, or your husband would have found out.” Daciana said as she waved her hand with a laugh. “Besides, Jonathan is still young, maybe one and twenty? Younger?”
“I am nineteen, ma’am.” McHenry said.
“You see, nineteen! Vivian, you’re probably around my father’s age, you are old enough to be his mother!” Daciana said as she stared at the woman tense.
“I do believe that is enough, Daciana.” Bartholomew said, keeping the laughter from his voice.
“As you wish, father.” Daciana said as she took a swing from her cup. “The festival of shadows started today, father, I was wondering if I am able to go tonight?”
“No.” Bartholomew stated. “You have your lessons this afternoon.”
“Yes, father.” Daciana said and remained silent for the rest of the meal.
Nearing eleven the meal ended and they started leaving, “Please come again.” Daciana said politely as she waved them off, Bartholomew stood at her side, with out a word.
“I’ll be seeing you real soon, Lord Bartholomew.” The blue-eyed man said. “And you as well, Princess Daciana.” Daciana nodded with a polite smile. After they all had gone, a maid closed the grand door and walked away, Bartholomew turned to face Daciana.
“What was that all about, Daciana?” Bartholomew barked at her.
“What?” Daciana asked as she stared up at him.
“You were questioning Vivian Welch, a very powerful woman.” Bartholomew snapped.
“Father, she is not that powerful. You are more powerful than she is!” Daciana snapped back at him. “Besides, I had to put her in her place, she was staring at me as if, if she knew I was a slave.”
“You are a slave, Daciana,” Bartholomew groaned, “You know you’re place, she’s a blue stocking, you can’t be just questioning them!”
“Father.” Daciana snapped. “Look at me, I am your daughter, I am from royal—”
“You are a commoner first then a noble, Daciana.” Bartholomew said. “Your mother was just a common woman,”
“I wish I lived with her and not you!” Daciana shouted as she stomped away from him,
“Daciana! Come back!” Bartholomew shouted after her, she stomped up the steps of the castle; to where her father kept the dangerous animals roam room, though two guards came round the bed and grabbed her by the arms and hauled her up, as they carried her back down the steps towards her father, Bartholomew stared at her laughingly, as Daciana’s red eyes glowed with hatred.
“Come now, Daciana, did you honestly forget that you had the council waitin’ on you?” Bartholomew said as he motioned for the guards to go on a head and he followed behind them with a content smile.
“No,” Daciana said bitterly, “I hadn’t forgot, I wished you did.”
Bartholomew laughed and shook his head, “I was the one to say you were sixteen already and the council had come to see if your fit to be left alive as a guardian.”
“A guardian?” Daciana asked, her eyes paling slightly.
“Yes, my dear,” Bartholomew said as they entered the main throne room, where a group of ten council members made a circle in the center, the two guards released Daciana in the middle of the circle before bowing and retreating, they enclosed Daciana in a human circle and whispered among themselves. Bartholomew watched tensely as he stared at his daughter among five males and five females that made up the council.
A council member shook their head and glanced to the person beside her. “I don’t think she should live, she’s frightened and we don’t need one who is frightened of things,”
A male laughed from across from her. “She has power, councilwoman, she’s just not used to using them,”
“She has Veronica now,” A woman said and Bartholomew tensed.
An eruption of murmurs and glances at Daciana as she stared up at them, her red eyes holding her uneasiness and uncertainty. “That’s it!” A male said as he broke away from the circle and a pleasing smile, “I vote that she remain alive,”
“I second that vote,” A woman said as she stood beside the male.
“I vote she should die.” Another woman said as she stepped away from the circle to stand-alone. The others stared at the male then at Daciana before looking at the woman, the rest walked towards the male and stood by him, voting for Daciana remaining alive to be a guardian. “I see how it is,” The woman snarled. “She will cause famine and destruction.” The woman threatened, but the council members had already made up their minds, “Fine!” she growled, “But I warn you, Bartholomew, let that thing live and you will pay the price,” The woman fled the castle, the other nine council members stared at Daciana, her red eyes sparking with curiosity now.
“She’s no more dangerous than a pup.” One of the members said as he approached her, Daciana blinked as she stared. “See she won’t even attack,” he reached out to touch her cheek, and the curiosity left her eyes as a warning growl escaped her lips, the councilman stepped back afraid of her. “Or not.” The others laughed as Daciana slinked towards her father and stood beside him, pride winning her eyes. “But she is adorable,”
“That she is,” A woman agreed and laughed, “But she’s spitfire, don’t be messing with her,”
“I don’t mess with demons.” The man said as he wrapped his arm around the woman. “And you know that.”
That struck a nerve in Daciana, she wasn’t a demon, not as far as she was concern, her father had even told her that she wasn’t. Could her father have lied to her? And if so, why? Daciana looked up at her father, the most powerful man she’d ever known, besides her uncle. She trusted him, barely, she secretly loved him as a father, she admired his strength and kindness, but she valued the honesty from him, when others had lied to her, he would tell her the truth. But now, she wasn’t certain anymore, her father’s eyes were void of anything, his face unreadable. That made her wonder even more. She glanced away from him back to the council members, who were laughing and enjoying their company, talking amongst each other, unaware that they had hurt her deeply. She never knew her mother, and her father wasn’t a demon, but a god, while her uncle was a god of the underworld. She was a demi god, or did it matter with an unknown mother, who might have been a demon. Did she take after her mother? Or did she take after her father? Daciana gulped as tears suddenly appeared at her eyes, though she refused to let them fall. Bartholomew glanced down at his daughter, she was at the verge of crying, but she was strong enough to keep holding her head up high with pride, he knew that she wondered if she was a demon or not, her mother had been a Lycanith, though no one had told her. Bartholomew sighed as he stared at her, her questioning mind not letting her have a moment’s peace.
“Daciana, you are able to go now.” Bartholomew said as he turned on his heel and began to walk, apparently startled, Daciana glanced over at Bartholomew.
“Sir?” Daciana spoke softly,
“Yes?” Bartholomew stopped walking though didn’t turn to face her.
“Am, am I a demon?” She asked what he feared.
“We’ll talk in the morn, now get some rest.” Bartholomew said before he continued walking and disappeared up the steps. Daciana sighed as she glanced back at the council members; they were vanishing back to where they had come from. Daciana sighed again as she started to walk to the main entrance, her trembling fingers reached for the door handle, she hardly could see anymore, she threw the doors open and fled from the castle.
Daciana lay on her loft sobbing, she could hear the faint music of the Festival of Shadows, down in the moors. “A demon? They think I’m a demon? Father didn’t even set them straight. Damn, does he think I’m a demon?” Daciana said, “The festival of shadows, he doesn’t want me to go, I’m going anyways.” Daciana wiped her eyes as she jumped down from her loft and she messed up her hair as she got undressed from the gown she’d been wearing, taking off her corset, petticoats, and her silk drawers, she then got out her best servant gown, she slipped it on, tears shimmering in her eyes, she grabbed a sash and wrapped it around her waist, she left her slippers in her chest of gowns and walked away. She entered the Festival of Shadows, the lanterns were still lit they didn’t close down until dawn, when they went to sleep. It was around midnight, there were girls dancing around the flames, men drinking and singing. Daciana looked around, before a man grabbed her and pulled her close to him, she looked up at him, to her surprise it was Saisho.
“Oi! I know you!” He slurred his words.
“Saisho, you’re drunk.” Daciana said as she tried to push herself away from him.
“Yes, I am.” Saisho laughed and looked at her.
“Saisho.” Daciana said as she stared at him.
“Alina, please forgive me.” Saisho said as he dropped his drink and cupped her face and kissed her. Daciana’s eyes widen, as she stayed stock-still. “Alina, it’s not you who I want, its Daciana, but you look like her, so, I am sorry for this,” Saisho slurred again as he led her away.
“But I’m n—”
“No,” Saisho said, “Please do not speak. You will remain a virgin, just don’t talk.”
“What are you—?” Daciana said as she was pressed against a tree far from the festival.
“It’s Daciana who I love, Alina, please try to understand that, you and her are almost exactly alike,” Saisho said as he kissed her neck, which made Daciana shiver.
“I’m not Alina!” Daciana finally said, as she clutched his shoulders.
“You aren’t? But you can’t be Daciana, she obeys every order, and Alina doesn’t.” Saisho said as he stared at her.
“I’m Daciana, Saisho Hubyoku.” Daciana said, red eyes twinkling with fear, Saisho stared at her, as he suddenly sobered up.
“Daciana.” Saisho said as he started to pull away from her.
“What were you going to do with me?” Daciana asked attentively.
“I was going to—” Saisho cut himself short and shook his head sharply. “No, I was going to do it to your sister, since I thought you was her, because she looks like you.”
“Sai, you don’t make any sense at all.” Daciana said as she rested her hand on his cheek, Saisho cupped her hand and held it firmly.
“I was going to make love to you.” Saisho finally said as he stared hard at her. “Daciana Shadow, I love you.”
She stared at him before she shoved him away and started running. A man took a hold of her arm and pulled her towards him, hiding her away from the other men’s gaze. “Princess Daciana Shadow, stay silent.” Daciana froze as she felt the man’s hand over her mouth, she didn’t struggle, but as soon as his arm tightened around her waist pulling her closer, she started to struggle slightly. “Please, don’t move. I will not harm you.”
“Daciana!” Saisho shouted as he looked for her. “Daciana!” As he past the shadowed tent, the man pressed Daciana closer to him, staring at Saisho. “Daciana!” Saisho shouted, oblivious at how close he really was to her, he left her there. The man released Daciana and she stared up at him.
“Who are you?” Daciana asked as she backed away.
“Tlaloc.” He said before he just left her there.
Daciana finally reached the stables, between the men grabbing at her and Tlaloc’s image always seeming to appear at every dark corner, had made her slightly nervous, a maid looked up from Daciana’s loft. “Daciana? Noita sheitoi?” Daciana? Why are you here? The maid frowned as she spoke.
“Nemashia toishi.” I live here. Daciana responded as she stared at the maid confused.
“Naga toikana.” You don’t now. The maid said. “Toishikeno Gukuina ne shikotoi.” You now live with the Guardians. Daciana stared hard at the maid, studying her for a while.
“Koineshina meoi shito Gukuina ne shikotoi?” I live with the guardians? Daciana said quietly and the maid nodded. “Midnight? Ne qoishita ne ma koi?” Midnight? What will happen to her?
“Midnight? Koi nemai nacoishina ne toka teqoi neshi á Gukuina.” Midnight? She’s at the horses’ stables over at the Guardians. The maid said softly and with a smile. “Noi, noi. Tonokai.” Anyways, so are your things.
“Tanakai.” Thank you. Daciana said as she bowed and walked out, the maid stared after her startled, Daciana rarely said thank you. She was to proud, like her father.
“Netoikai, Daciana.” You’re welcome, Daciana. The maid said as she casted her gaze onto the ground. “Nemoi taishi uika qoina.” Your life will be blessed.
Daciana clung to the stocks as male servants behind her whipped her with serrated whips. Daciana cringed with every sting on her back from the whips. “Again!” A male sergeant shouted, crack, Daciana winced but didn’t cry out, crack, again the servants whipped her. “Stop.” The servants dropped their arms to their sides, still ready to whip her. “Daciana, you know why we are doing this?”
“Y-yes, sir.” Daciana said biting back the pain.
“Oh? You do?” The sergeant said. “So then tell me, why am I doing this for?”
“Bartholomew had become fed up with me, his eldest daughter, and ordered you to kill me with the whips.” Daciana spat as she clung tightly to the stocks.
“Yes, that is true.” The sergeant said, knowing it was a lie. “Again.” He shouted, crack. The servants whipped her again, her back was just a bloody mess, but they continued, “Again.” He shouted and the servants whipped Daciana. “Stop.” They did, but still ready to whip again. “If this doesn’t kill you, Daciana, it’ll make your stronger, you are an attack dog, created by your father, designed with your uncle.” The sergeant spoke soothingly, Daciana stared hard at their shadows that now drapped over her body.
“I have no family.” Daciana spat, her anger rising. “I was created not born.”
“A-again.” The sergeant said and the servants hesitated before they continued whipping her. Crack. Tears now shimmered in her red eyes. Crack. She didn’t feel the sting or the pain of the whips and she had now become numb. “Again.” The sergeant said and again the servants complied, whipping Daciana, the night’s fog started to roll in as the sun was setting. “Again!” The sergeant said, the servants rose their whips just as they were bring the whips back down on Daciana’s back, she rose from the stocks and took a hold of all eight ends and pulled them towards her. Daciana’s eyes sparked with rage as she smirked, showing her fangs.
“Daciana, elle est le diable!” Daciana, she is the devil. One shouted as he lets go of the whip, the others fallowed suit, but before they could make it over the hill, Daciana appeared in front of them, hunger for blood apparent in her red eyes. “El diable!” The Devil. He shouted again and Daciana snarled as she ran up to them, grabbing each eight of the men and cracking their skulls open, ripping a hole in their stomachs, tearing their throats open, and digging their eyes out. She howled and began to feast on the dead servants, the sergeant watched in horror as she had mutilated each an every one of his men.
“Daciana.” The voice boomed from on top of the hill, her red eyes glanced over, there stood a man, tall and proud, he was shirtless, and wore a pair of black trousers, he also wore a necklace with a pentagon pendent. His skin was flawless it had a red tint that made it shimmer red; his eyes were as black as his soul. His gaze never wavered from hers, she gave him a feral growl as she backed up, one of the male servant’s neck still in her mouth, and she dragged the body down with her. “Daciana.” He said again, his tone growing colder. She didn’t give it up; she knew if she did, she would go back to being whipped. “Drop it.” He was treating her like a dog, her mouth tensed, sinking her fangs even deeper into the male’s throat. “Drop it, Daciana.” He said again as he started to walk towards her. She still didn’t comply as she continued to back away, the sergeant watched still horrified, but Daciana finally noticed him and lets the servant’s throat go, and she attacked the sergeant, sinking her fangs into his neck, and clutching his shoulders from behind him, the sergeant cried out. “Daciana!” Again the man said, staring hard at her.
“She’s not going to let him go,” Her father’s voice boomed. “Brother.”
“Bartholomew, I was wondering when you’d show up.” He said, glancing over her father.
“Lucifer, I was taking my time, to let you and Daciana get to know each—”
“Cut the crap.” Lucifer said.
“Fine, I was waiting to see if Daciana was going to try and harm you.” Bartholomew said.
“Bartholomew, why in the world would you want her to die so quickly?” Lucifer groaned.
“Well, you wouldn’t kill your tool? Now would you?” Bartholomew said as he stared at his brother.
“My tool?” Lucifer said. “Wait, that’s—?”
“Daciana Shadow, daughter of Esperanza Shadow.” Bartholomew said with a light smile. “She’s the Lycanith we’ve were waiting for.”
“But, she’s, she’s so young!” Lucifer said as he stared at Daciana, her red eyes twinkling with mistrust and hatred. “Then again, I know that look anywhere.”
“So? What are you going to do with her?” Bartholomew asked as he stared at Daciana.
“Hm? I am not entirely sure, how old is she now?” Lucifer asked.
“Sixteen.” Bartholomew responded as Daciana stared at them, “She’ll be seventeen come the Demon’s Day.”
“Oh?” Lucifer said as he looked over at his older brother. “Why’s that?”
“She was born on that day, as was my other daughter.” Bartholomew said. “Not to sure how it happened.”
“Esperanza didn’t want you to leave, now did she?” Lucifer said as he smirked.
“Espe had my interests dear brother, but she unfortunately had died about three months after I took Daciana in.” Bartholomew said a hint of sadness spread threw him suddenly; Lucifer stared at him with an arched brow.
“Oh?” Lucifer said and shook his head. “Have you bedded the Goddess yet?”
“I have.” Bartholomew said. “Twins are very good in bed.”
Daciana blinked as she dunged her nails into the sergeant’s shoulders causing him to yelp in pain. “That’s right, Daciana is about to kill one of the sergeants, Bartholomew.” Lucifer said as he looked back at Daciana.
“I know, it just, I don’t really mind loosing a sergeant,” Bartholomew said as he stared at her. “I wonder were she gets that wicked attitude from.” Lucifer gave him a dull look. “Certainly she doesn’t get it from me.”
“Certainly, brother, you are mistaken.” Lucifer said with a smile. “She gets her blood-thirst from our side of the family.”
“Right,” Bartholomew said with a half smile. “Daciana will you please let the poor man go?”
Daciana stared at them blankly. “I don’t think she understands us at this point.” Lucifer mused as he stared at her.
“Oh? And why the hell not?” Bartholomew said giving his brother a glare.
“She’s raised with slaves, was she not?” Lucifer said. “Maybe if you spoke their language, she’d understand.”
“Me? But—but I can’t speak it properly!” Bartholomew whined.
“No, but you have no other choice.” Lucifer said, “Other then losing your beloved daughter.”
“Oh, for the love of—” Bartholomew looked at Daciana, “Gatiche nia leqoi!” Will you drop him now!
Daciana blinked and released her hold on the sergeant, who by now had passed out from the blood loss. “Was that so hard, brother?” Lucifer said.
“Yes, it was.” Bartholomew said. “Thanks to the maids teaching me some of their language!”
“I think you did well, father.” Daciana spoke as she walked up to them.
“Oh?” Bartholomew said as he stared down at her. “You didn’t think I have that accent?”
“Nah.” Daciana shook her head. “Well, just a little bit, but with practice—”
“Oh, no! I am not using that language again!” Bartholomew hissed. “It’s very trivial, one mispronunciation and you can say something totally different!”
“Sorry father, but that’s how it is.” Daciana laughed as she stared up at her father, before looking over at Lucifer. “You must be Uncle Lucifer.”
“Aye, that I am, Daciana.” Lucifer said as he bowed.
“Father, had never mentioned he had a brother. And such a handsome brother he has.” Daciana said with a light smile.
“Oh? Am I now?” Lucifer said with a smirk.
“Don’t be going and getting a big head, Lucifer.” Bartholomew hissed. “I don’t think hell is big enough for it.”
“Oh, hush.” Lucifer laughed, “I think I may start to like my niece.”
“Will I ever be your favorite?” Daciana asked.
“Perhaps, let’s see how well you are as being an attack dog.” Lucifer said with a frown.
“An attack dog?” Daciana asked, her brows knitting in confusion. “Why on earth would I ever be an attack dog?”
“You’ll soon find out, Daciana.” Lucifer said as he ran a hand threw his black hair. “For now, I must bid you a farewell.”
“I will see you again, won’t I, uncle?” Daciana asked as she clutched his free hand.
“Daciana, you are the spitting image of your mother, except she said that to your father and not me, she was ter—”
“Lucifer, it is best you don’t mentioned her mother.” Bartholomew cut him off.
“Of course,” Lucifer said and looked at Daciana, “One of my hell hounds had just given birth, I think you would like those dogs.”
“What are they?” Daciana asked.
“They are three headed monstrosities.” Lucifer smiled wickedly. “I had already named them.”
“Oh? And what are their names?” Daciana asked.
“Cerberus.” Lucifer said as he kissed her forehead after she’d released his hand. “Well, I shall see you at supper, good-bye niece.”
“See you soon, dearest uncle!” Daciana said as she waved, Lucifer retreated into the setting sun.
“Well then, I think is about supper, don’t you think Daciana?” Bartholomew asked her and Daciana stared at him dully.
“I don’t forgive you.” Daciana said as she stared walking off, Bartholomew followed closely behind.
“Daciana.” Bartholomew said. “You don’t forgive me for what?”
“For the fact that you sent the half dead sergeant to almost kill me!” Daciana snarled as she kept walking.
“It is your endurance training, Daciana.” Bartholomew groaned. “You honestly believed that I would intentionally harm you?”
“Yes.” Daciana spat as she whirled to face him. “I will endure anything you throw at me, because frankly, I don’t give a damn anymore.”
“Oh?” Bartholomew said.
“Yes, because in the end I will give in to my animal and then you will pay that price.” Daciana spat again before she whirled back and started to head back to the castle.
“You can’t use her forever, Daciana!” Bartholomew warned her as he followed her again. “One of these days you’ll have to learn to do it on your own!”
“When that day comes, Bartholomew! I’ll be sure to kill you first!” Daciana shouted over her shoulder as she started to run.
“Don’t count on it, little girl!” Bartholomew shouted back.

Daciana panted as she crouched low on the ground, and bolted forward with a powerful right punch, Jir’s knee caved and he fell to the ground. For the past week, it had been raining non-stop, she now hardly felt the cold. “Again!” She shouted. “Get up!”
“I just had about enough, Daciana, my body can’t take any more damage.” Jir shouted at her as he rose.
“Then get me someone who can!” Daciana’s red eyes sparked with rage. “You are worth—”
“Daciana, you should come inside, you’ll catch your death out there!” Lilith cut her off. “Come and dry off!”
“No!” Daciana shouted back. “Send Serenity out!”
“You nearly killed off all of them, the only ones who refuses is Saisho and Binjion, why not come inside?” Lilith shouted at her.
“No.” Daciana shouted back. “I have to get stronger, I need to get stronger!”
“But—”
“No buts!” Daciana said. “Just sent them out!”
“Fine.” Lilith said and Saisho walked out, wearing nothing but trousers.
“Daciana, I must insist you come inside, you are going to get sick.” Saisho said as he got into his fighting stance, Daciana watched him carefully as she bend her knees slightly and raised her hands just about to her upper body level and got ready for a fight.
“No.” Daciana said. “Begin.” Saisho sighed as he slowly moved towards her, before he bolted towards her and feigned a right, Daciana saw threw it and dodged to the right and punched his right chest. Saisho growled and backed away, “Again.” She demanded. Saisho sighed as he moved as quick as he could and feigned right then left and landed a mid shot, Daciana backed tracked and growled as she crouched low and bolted forward, but he blocked her punch and took a hold of her hands to stop her from making anymore punches.
“Daciana, you will get sick, I am warning you.” Saisho growled at her.
“I will not.” Daciana said defensively, her eyes paled as she tried to focus. “Now, again!” Saisho released her and backed up.
“You can’t push yourself!” Saisho warned her. “You’re body cannot continue to endure this punishment.”
“Come at me like you want to kill me!” Daciana shouted at him as she rushed him and feigned a right and struck left, Saisho dodged it quickly as he landed a punch at her chest, Daciana doubled over and fell to the ground, coughing. After a few moments, she remained on the floor.
“s**t.” Saisho said as he scooped her up and carried her back into the stables, “Lilith get the fire going, Luna get me some warm clothing, Jir and Serenity, run back into the castle to get the physician!” They nodded and started moving, “Binjion, help me undress her.” Binjion moved and he held her while Saisho unlaced Daciana’s servant gown, he pealed the wet garment off Daciana’s red-hot skin. She groaned as she clutched Binjion’s shoulders, as she started to sob.
“I am sorry for all of this.” Daciana sobbed as she clutched him tightly. “I just, I—”
“Please Daciana, don’t talk just hold out a while longer.” Binjion pleaded as he held her up right, her body was hot to the touch. “How long has she been out in the rain?”
“I don’t know,” Saisho said with a frown as he stared past her to see Binjion. “It’s been raining for a week, considering how bad she looks, I say since the rain had started.”
“She has a fever.” Binjion said as he helped Saisho haul Daciana up the steps to her loft. Saisho laid her on her straw mattress and frowned as he lay on the other side of her, Binjion frowned as he watched them carefully.
“I came back with the—” Serenity said as he walked back in with the physician. Luna quietly draped dry and warm servant clothing on a chair by the fire and stayed near Lilith. “Physician.” The physician rushed in at the sight of Daciana.
“Daciana, oh good god, girl!” The physician climbed the steps to the loft and felt her forehead. “She’s got a fever. Has she been out in the rain?”
“Yes sir.” Serenity answered as he stared after him.
“The only thing I can tell you, is to keep her warm and dry, make some chicken stew and also hot cow broth.”
“Okay.” Serenity said as the physician went back down the steps and stood beside Serenity.
“She’s strong, but she can’t be pushing herself like this.” The physician said with a frown.
“Yes, sir.” Serenity said. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” The physician said before he left.
“I’ll stay here with Daciana for the night.” Saisho said. “The rest of you, get some rest.”
“Got it.” They said and left, Saisho sat up and watched Daciana sleep for the rest of the night.
“Why are you so stubborn, my little bird?” Saisho sighed as he stared at her. “You can’t be pushing your body until it’s braking point.”
Morning dawned and Saisho had fallen asleep, Daciana groaned as she pushed her self up weakly, her head was swimming with her fever. “I slept in.” Daciana murmured softly as she lowered herself down the steps of the loft, she went to her chest of gowns and weakly grabbed one and got dressed, she coughed as she put on her slippers, she walked to the fire and pushed in a kettle to heat up the water, her gaze went to her loft and saw Saisho still sleeping, “I should make him breakfast.” She said to herself as she walked towards the food cabinet, a pain shot threw her stomach; she doubled over and let out a soft yelp. “What the—”
“D-Daciana!” A startled voice sounded, but before she could she who it was, Daciana fainted. Luna rushed to her side and shoved her shoulder trying to wake her. “Daciana, please wake up!”
“Luna? What are you—?” Saisho said as he climbed down the steps of the latter and noted Daciana unconscious on the floor. “Oh no! Daciana!”
“Sai, she’s fine, she just fainted,” Luna said as she went to get the kettle out of the flames. “She’ll be alright, I hope.”
“I heard what happened.” Bartholomew’s voice boomed.
“Oh, sir! What are you doing here?” Luna sounded shocked and Saisho straighten.
“The physician told me that Daciana had gotten ill.” Bartholomew said as he strode towards her unconscious body. Grief over shadowing his eyes as he stared down at his daughter, he gulped as he knelt beside her. “Daciana, open your eyes.”
Daciana slowly opened her eyes, as she stared at her father, her eyes refuse to focus on him. “I’m alright, stop fussing.” She finally said as she pushed herself from the ground. “I just had a fainting spell.” She tried to convince herself that she wasn’t sick.
“Daciana, go back to bed,” Bartholomew said as he helped her sit up. “You aren’t any use to me if you’re like this.”
“I’ve to go and help the kitchen help today, though.” Daciana said shaking her head. “I am well enough to do my chores, father.”
“Daciana.” Saisho pleaded. “Please rest.”
“No!” Daciana roared. “I am well enough to do my chores, I do not wish to be punished!”
“No one is going to punish you, Daciana, now, rest and I’ll get Marie to come in and tend to you.” Bartholomew said as he patted Daciana’s head. “You do remind me of your mother, she was just as stubborn.” Daciana stared at him, her red eyes glittering with confusion. “Ahem,” Bartholomew cleared his throat and nodded. “Well then, Guardian Hubyoku, please make sure Daciana gets enough rest, and monitor her fever.”
“Yes, sir.” Saisho said as he saluted Bartholomew.
“Yes, well then, fare well.” Bartholomew said before he left. Saisho helped Daciana back into her loft and laid her down; he pulled up the warm wool blanket and covered her.
“Please Daciana, rest.” Saisho said, “Luna and I will ensure that no harm comes, and also no one is going to punish you, not unless they wish to see your father.”
Daciana nodded and smiled. “Thank you, both of you.” Daciana said as she glanced over at Luna, “Has anyone told you, that you look like the Moon Goddess?”
“Oh? You mean Celest?” Luna said with a sheepish smile.
“Yes.” Daciana said as she stared hard at her.
“Well, you see, Celest is my mother.” Luna said as she rose from the chair she’d been sitting on. “I had lost my father when I was two, so my mother sent me to live with the guardians, who knew that I would one day become one, and to be the guardian to the princess.”
“You’re mom must be proud.” Daciana murmured as she blinked.
“My mom says that you are a joy to have, and that she raised you.” Luna said, “Is that true?”
“As I can remember, Celest had been my substitute mother.” Daciana said with a kind smile. “Since I lost my mother at birth.”
“Oh, that is terrible.” Luna said. “And I’m keeping you from your rest. Please forgive me.”
“There’s nothing to forgive, Luna, you’ve done nothing wrong.” Daciana said as she closed her eyes.
“When you wake, I’ll have the stew ready.” Luna said as she grabbed a basket. “Saisho, I’m heading out into the gardens, since it’s sunny out, you know how unpredictable the weather can be.”
“Oh, yes, please.” Saisho said as he stroked Daciana’s face tenderly. “Would you mind getting Jir and Noir to go to the market to buy meat for the stew? Also wine, mustn’t for get that.”
“Yes, of course.” Luna said as she skipped out of the stables. Saisho yawned as he rested his head on his arm and closed his eyes, before long he drifted into sleep. The head maid walked in, inspecting the stables and loft making sure no servant was escaping their chores, she found Daciana curled up on her loft, rage flood threw her body, blue eyes sparking with hatred.
“Daciana of Slaves!” The head maid shouted as she walked briskly towards the steps and climbed up. “Wake up, Daciana of Slaves!” Daciana groaned as she covered her face with the wool blanket and continued to sleep.
“Would you leave the girl alone?” her voice wavered in, making the poor head maid tremble.
“Who are you?” The head maid said as she glanced over at the stables door.
“Veronica.” She said with a slight bow. “I am the girl’s better half.”
“You are Daciana’s other half?” The head maid said as fear consumed her.
“Other half is such a very nasty word,” Veronica said. “I prefer the term, animalistic side. You see, I don’t care what people want from me, I only want a few things.”
“T-that would be?” The head maid said.
“Blood, destruction, death.” Veronica said as she made her way closer to the head maid. “If you punish Daciana for sleeping in, then I will have to punish you.”
“But you can’t be—”
“Trust me, I can be here.” Veronica said as she reached out to touch the woman’s cheek, though her hand phased threw the woman’s skin. “Well, not entirely. But I can. So I say this again, right now, leave Daciana alone.”
“Y-yes of course.” The head maid retreated before she stumbled as she rushed out of the stable.
“Get stronger Daciana, because I am going to be blocked from you.” Veronica said as she looked up to see her. “Good luck.” She said before she walked towards the horses and vanished.
Luna came back carrying her basket full of potatoes, carrots, squash, yams, onions and chickpeas, Serenity and Nate walk in with a basket each of bread, and sweets. “Luna, where do you want us?” Nate asked as he placed the basket beside her.
“You guys can do whatever you want now, thank you.” Luna said as she starts to peal the potatoes. “Breakfast is going to be ready soon, though, don’t go to far away.”
“Got it, Luna.” Serenity said as he and Nate left, they looked at Daciana, who was still asleep.
Luna hummed as she continued to work, occasionally Daciana would cough, but other than that, she was silent. “I hope you get better, Daciana.” Luna prayed silently. As Luna was finishing up, Jin and Jackal walked in carrying a bucket of water each.
“How’s Daciana?” Jin asked as she sat beside Luna and helped her put the pot close to the flames.
“She should wake up any minute now.” Luna said as she stood, “Thanks, Jin.”
“No problem. Where are the men with the meat?” Jin asked as she rose from the ground.
“Here.” Noir said as he and Jir brought over a hunk of pig flank and two turkeys, Luna giggled as she took the pig flank and chopped it up into cubed pieces before she added them into the pot. Jin took the turkeys and along with Luna they started to pluck them.
“Tell the others to wash up.” Luna said to them. “And for heavens sake, wash up with soap!”
“Fine, mother hen!” Noir laughed as he and the others left to wash up. Jin and Luna giggled as they continued to pluck feathers from the dead turkeys. Daciana shifted slightly and Saisho yawned as he woke up, he saw her clutching his tunic tightly. He laid his hand on her forehead, her fever had gone down but she was still warm to the touch. As he stroked her face tenderly, he gulped finding himself falling in love with her. Saisho pulled his hand away quickly as she started to wake up; her eyes fluttered open and stared intently at Saisho.
“Morning sleepy head.” Saisho said softly as he smiled.
“Morning.” Daciana responded as she continued to stare at him.
“Are you hungry?” Saisho asked as he stared back.
Daciana finally broke away and looked down at her blanket. “Starving,” She admitted.
“Well you’re in luck, Daciana,” Luna called to her. “The stew is just about done.”
“Thank you, all of you.” Daciana said, tears gathering at her eyes. “This means a lot to me, I’ve never had anyone take care of me, since I was small.”
“No need to thank us, Daciana.” Luna giggled. “Its what some of us do.”
“Now, lets eat!” Noir called out as the rest of the seven guardians entered with laughter. Jir held up two bottles of red wine with a broad smile as he walked in. “Now it’s a party!”
“It is not!” Luna said aggressively. “We’re having breakfast with the mistress, so please behave!”
“Oh, jeez, Luna, who died and made you head boss around here?” Noir said primly. “As far as I am concern that title still belongs to Saisho, and he ain’t dead yet.”
“That’s very nice of you to say so, even though I’m right here, Noir.” Saisho said as he jumped down from the loft and beside them. Luna served them a bowl of the stew and handed it to Saisho, who walked over and handed it to Daciana, she sat up and took it with a polite smile and stared eating. Binjion brought her a cup of wine; Daciana took it attentively and smiled.
“Thanks.” Daciana said.
“Just don’t over do it.” Luna warned her.
“Promise.” Daciana said as she continued to eat, after everyone else was served, they started eating.
“The martial arts competition is coming, you know.” Noir said as he sipped his cup. “Saisho, didn’t you want to give it a go?”
“Nah, I’m satisfied being the teacher.” Saisho said after her swallowed his mouth full of stew.
“Me and Jin are wanting to give it a go.” Luna spoke up.
“You? But you’re a girl!” Noir said as he stared hard at her.
“So?” Luna said outrage.
“I can ask father to let you in, Luna.” Daciana said softly as she set her plate aside.
“Miss Daciana, are you done?” Jin asked as she rose.
“It’s fine, Jin, please finish eating, don’t mind me.” Daciana said waving the young girl off.
“All right.” Jin said as she sat back down and continued eating.
“You’d do that, Daci?” Luna asked.
“Even your father knows not to put a woman in the competition.” Noir said. “Aint that right, boys?”
“I think she has a shot.” Jir said glancing at Luna, “I’d say she’d give you a run for your money, Noir.”
“Right!” Noir said and looked away as he down the last of his stew. “I mean, women are supposed to be in the home not fighting.”
“That’s what you think, Noir.” Jin said as she rose from her spot and towered over Noir. “You and me, outside now. I’ll show you a thing or two.”
“Fine. You’re on, if I win, you and Luna forget about entering the competition.” Noir said as he rose meeting Jin’s brown eyes.
“Don’t go easy on me, Noir.” Jin threatened as they both walked out, Saisho laughed as they rest stood as well and flooded out, Daciana climbed down the steps with the wool blanket around her shoulders, Saisho wrapped his arm around her shoulders and walked with her outside.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, Jin.” Noir said as he smirked.
“It’s going to be interesting seeing his a** get handed to him by a girl.” Saisho laughed.
“Why is that?” Daciana asked as she looked up to him.
“Because, I taught Jin, she’s a very good fighter.” Saisho winked. “She has a drive that no other man has.”
“So you’re betting on Jin to win?” Daciana asked.
“Not betting, I know she’s going to win.” Saisho said as he kissed her cheek.
“Oh.” Daciana said as they walked out into the bright sunny day.
Jin shook out her hands as she stood in front of Noir. “I do hope you don’t cry, Noir!”
“Woman, I will teach you your place!” Noir shouted which made Daciana tense. She always had hated when men would shout that, I’ll teach you your place! Jin let out a short laugh and Daciana shook her thoughts.
“I am a free bird, love, ain’t no man ganna put this chick in a cage!” Jin shouted. Noir growled angrily before he charged at her, Jin laughed as she dodged his charged attack and grabbed the back of his tunic and slammed him down to the ground. “Love, seriously, you’re like a charging bull.”
“That was pure luck, Jin!” Noir shouted as he rose to his feet.
“Right.” Jin said as she laughed again, Noir growled as he faked a left and brought up his right fist, but Jin caught it and swung her fist to make contact with his stomach, Noir doubled over in pain and tried not to collapse. “Was that luck, too? Sweetie?” Jin spoke with a soft smirk as Noir growled as he shoved himself away from Jin, holding his stomach and glaring.
“Woman,” Noir snarled as he charged at her again, Jin sighed as she again dodged the charge and quickly brought her elbow down onto his back as he was passing. Noir stumbled and fell to the ground, snarling, rage filled his eyes. “I am not going to lose to a woman!”
“Noir, just give it up.” Jin said. “You can’t beat me.”
“Why not!” Noir said as he pushed himself up from the ground.
“Saisho taught me,” Jin stated as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“Sai? You taught a girl how to fight?” Noir raged consumed him. “You taught a woman!”
“So?” Saisho said, the world seemed to stand still then Noir bolted towards Saisho, Daciana blinked as she got in the way and blocked Noir’s attack, her red eyes glowed darkly as she let out a warning snarl, but Noir was beyond caring.
“Noir, back down, or I will kill you.” Daciana warned everyone knew she was holding back, Noir still tried to reach Saisho, he shoved Daciana out of the way, and she fell. “Damn it.” Daciana said as she got up and tackled Noir down, her mouth finding Noir’s throat and clamping down hard enough for him not to be able to get air into his lungs. Noir struggled against her, but no air was able to reach his lungs, soon he started to black out. Jin and Saisho pried Daciana off Noir, before she was able to kill him. Daciana panted as she stared darkly at Noir, who stared up at her, fear evident in his eyes. “The fight is over,” Daciana said, clearly struggling to remain calm. “Everyone get inside, and finish the chores.” They all nodded and retreated back inside of the barn, Saisho remained outside.
“Are you alright, Daciana?” Saisho asked as he engulfed her in his arms.
“I’ll be fine,” Daciana responded with a soft smile, “I just reacted to what Noir had said,” Daciana gulped as she clutched his tunic. Saisho stared at her with a frown and shook his head.
“You are not a slave anymore, Daciana, you are one of us now,” Saisho said softly as he pulled her closer to him, his heart hammering in his chest, even though he was a Feline Guardian, he held a grand soft spot for the young wolven princess. He didn’t or wouldn’t tell her how he really felt about her, not yet.
“I don’t think I’ll ever really change, I’ve grew up a slave and I will always remain a slave.” Daciana said and looked away from Saisho.
“Daciana Shadow!” Marie shouted as she ran across the courtyard, Saisho blinked as both he and Daciana glanced over.
“What is it, Marie?” Daciana said as the maid arrived, she panted and struggled to get the words out. “Marie, calm down.”
After a few moments Marie spoke. “Lord Bartholomew is asking for you and Saisho’s presences in the throne room, Lord Lucifer is here.”
“I’ll be there in a bit, I must change,” Daciana said, her eyes glancing away from Marie to stare at Saisho, who still held her. “Uhm, you can let go now,” Daciana murmured softly and Saisho gulped as he released her.
“Uh, yes, well, uh.” Saisho cleared his throat and sauntered back to the barn. Daciana laughed as she followed.
Daciana stood before her father and uncle, dressed in a blue dress with red trimmings, her hair was loose framing her face and red eyes, though her eyes were cast to the ground, her uncle stood beside her father, as they stared down at her. “You’re going to live with your uncle for the year, or until your uncle decide to return you,” Her father had repeated again, and Daciana still didn’t meet her father’s gaze.
“What do you think, Daci?” Lucifer said, his black eyes shimmering slightly. Saisho didn’t trust him at all, but he refused to say anything.
“I—” Daciana began but clamped her mouth close and thought, before saying, “Whatever you decide, father.” Daciana sighed as she finally glanced up at her father and uncle. “I will do as you wish.” Bartholomew nodded and glanced at Lucifer.
“I put her in your care, brother,” Bartholomew said as he rose from the throne and clasped Lucifer’s back. “Take care of her, don’t let her drink and what ever you do, don’t bring girls home.”
“I’ll do everything but the drinking and the girls,” Lucifer said with a smile.
“Ugh,” Bartholomew sighed and shook his head. “Okay fine,” He turned to face Daciana, “You may take Saisho with you, and be careful Daciana, learn as much as you can and I’ll see you again.”
“Yes, father,” Daciana said, her eyes losing their glow, Saisho frowned and shook his head, dread and uneasiness waving threw him. This was going to be the toughest year, which he and Daciana would have to endure. That is just effing terrific, Daciana glanced over at Saisho with a soft reassuring smile, before they went back to the stable and started packing, the other guardian’s watched with sadness in their eyes.
They said their goodbyes and wished them luck, before Daciana and Saisho headed out to the Underworld, to stay for as long as she had to become the Attack Dog, her uncle wanted, she had already become the tool her father created. Saisho wanted her just to be her and nothing else, but Daciana just wanted to be free. As Saisho and Daciana stood on top of the hill overlooking the grounds of the Castle on one side and overlooking the village on the other, Saisho looked down at Daciana and tried to tell her what was in his heart, but yet again, he could not dare say it, so they started to descend into the dark abyss of the underworld where her uncle was waiting for them.

Haunting Memories
Chapter Two: The Attack Dog
Daciana along with Saisho, picked their way threw the mucky, murky home of her uncle, Lucifer, the flames spewed, from around them, they finally arrived a huge dark and red castle, surrounded by the dying and the demons that torture them, one demon glanced over at her, red eyes sparking with slight anger and confusion. Daciana gulped softly as she stared at them, her own red eyes glowing with sadness, she was horrified to see that the demon’s eyes were red.
“I don’t mess with demons.” The male councilman said, “And you know that.” The sudden voice of the councilman drifted into her head as she stared at the demon’s red eyes.
“Daciana, are you alright?” Saisho said as they walked past the demon and into the castle.
“I’m alright,” Daciana said as she refused to meet Saisho’s gaze, knowing if she did, he would discover why she was distracted. Lucifer rose from one of the great chairs in the main room, he was clad in leather and a leather jacket, with out a shirt, his hair was pulled back into a ponytail with a black leather thong, his black eyes burn with a black fire as he stared down at Daciana and Saisho.
“Welcome!” Lucifer said as he picked up Daciana and kissed her, Daciana’s eyes widen as he was kissing her, Lucifer placed her on the ground after the kiss and smiled brightly. “I’ll show you to your room, Daciana, which you will be sharing with Saisho.” They followed Lucifer to a back room, he opened the door and Daciana’s eyes widen even more as she saw, her new bedroom, it was a lot larger than the loft in the stables and her small room in the guardian’s house.
“Is this all for me?” Daciana asked as she looked around, there was another door, she guessed led to the bathroom,
“Yes,” Lucifer said with a smile, “The bathroom is threw that door,” He pointed to the door she noticed, “The closet is just beside it, its magic activated, Daci.”
Daciana nodded and looked at Lucifer. “Thank you, uncle.”
“Don’t worry,” Lucifer said, “Oh, later you’ve your training.” Lucifer said as he walked off. “Supper is in two minutes, Daciana.” Daciana and Saisho entered the room; the serving wenches had already brought their stuff.
“I don’t want to train today,” Daciana said softly as she threw herself on the bed, the covers were surprisingly warm, Saisho sat beside her and patted her head, “I’m serious, I just want to relax before I do anything,”
“Tell your uncle that, Daci.” Saisho said as he stared down at her, Daciana prompted herself up and stared at him, she gulped softly as she glanced away, Saisho lifted his hand and placed it over her cheek and turned her head, her red eyes sparked with uncertainty as she stared up at his face, his lavender eyes staring into hers, he leaned down and kissed her, Daciana’s eyes fluttered closed as she kissed him back, his hand slid to the back of her neck and pulled her up to him, she slid her hand up his torso and rested on his shoulder as she continued to kiss him.
So very lovely, Daciana, Veronica’s voice drifted into her head and Daciana pulled back quickly her gaze wild with fear.
“What’s wrong?” Saisho said as he stared at her, he had to admit that while he was kissing her, he was getting turned on, but he refused to let it show.
“I just heard—”
Why even bother trying to hide it, Sai. Veronica’s voice sounded around them, I can see right threw it. Her form materializes in front of them, her red eyes sparking playfully as she rested her hands on her hips, and a light smile tugged on her red lips.
“What are you talking about?” Daciana asked as she stared at Veronica.
His little, uh, friend, Veronica said as she moved swiftly towards Saisho and startled his lap.Are you a little stiff, my dear?
“Get off, Veronica.” Saisho said tiredly. Veronica sighed and got off his lap as she swayed her hips as she retreated. Her dark curls bouncing as she moved; she turned abruptly and stared directly at Saisho. Love, Daciana and me are one in the same, you screw her, and you are also screwing me. So don’t think that you cannot love me and love her, because you’d just love one half of her and despise the other.
“Leave, Veronica.” Daciana spoke, her red eyes filled with anger. “Now.”
As you wish, Veronica said before she vanished, Daciana glanced over at Saisho, her red eyes dulling.
“I’m sorry, about her.” Daciana said and Saisho shrugged.
“Don’t worry,” Saisho reassured her. “Like Veronica said, she is apart of you, that I just have to love as well.”
“Wait, you love me?” Daciana said as she stared at him, red eyes wide with confusion and curiosity.
“I—”
“Daciana! Guardian Hubyoku! Supper!” Lucifer’s loud, booming voice sounded, Saisho and Daciana glanced over at the open door and sighed, Saisho cleared his throat and sighed again.
“Come, we have to dress before we go to see your uncle.” Saisho said and Daciana laughed, as she grabbed a pair of his trousers and tunic and went to the bathroom, Saisho blinked as he stared after her, she came out minutes later, with her hair pulled into a low ponytail, her tunic was open at the collar showing off her cleavage, she clearly refuses to wear a corset, his gaze slid down, the trousers she wore, were nicely fitting, showing off her nice shapely legs, she wore her slippers. He groaned and shook his head, “Come here, Daci.” Curiously she walked towards him, and stood at arms length, he closed that gap and pulled her into his arms, and kissed her again, Daciana clutched his shoulders tightly as she kissed him, her eyes fluttering close, he slid his hand to the back of her neck and tilted her head slightly, to kiss her better, his other hand slid around her waist and pulled her close.
“Da—” Lucifer’s words cut short as he stared at his niece in the arms of her guardian, his laughter echoed threw out the room, startling Daciana and Saisho, they sprang apart, “Well, it’s supper then your training, but you can put off your training if ye want and have more time to, uh, fool around with your guardian.”
Saisho took a hold of Daciana’s arm and led her down the hallway with her uncle behind them, snickering. Daciana blinked slightly confused as she was dragged down the hallway, Saisho reached the large dining room, a few serving wenches came up and helped them to their seats. “Daciana, just forget what happened in the bedroom.” Saisho said with a wan smile.
“What do you mean?” Daciana asked as she stared at him.
“He means my dear is that he regrets kissing you.” Lucifer said as he took as seat at the head of the table.
“I do not!” Saisho said defensively as he glared down at the table, the serving wenches brought them wine, and their supper. Lucifer lifted his goblet and smiled.
“To a fair love and a just war!” Lucifer boasted with laughter and Daciana laughed.
“To a wonderful life and a tough ruler!” She boasted as a joke.
“To the woman I—”
They stared at him, curiosity marking their eyes, Saisho gulped and looked away. “Dear boy, you were about to say something about a woman, you love?” Lucifer prompted.
“Well, sir.” Saisho said and froze, he couldn’t say that he loved Daciana, he grew up with her, he saw her as a grand friend and a good student, but as his lover? Or better yet his wife? Was such a relationship possible with her? Saisho sighed and looked at Daciana, to him she was perfect, her eyes glowed even in the dark abyss of hell, her hair as dark and rich as oil, even a few gods with hair as dark, cannot compare to her, her skin was lovely caramel that glowed to him, she was perfect, she was, an Angel. He could never have her and she was just above him. He was just a guardian, a commoner, a martial arts teacher and nothing more. He wished that who ever she married she’d be happy and loved and cared for, or hell be blessed, he will kill who ever makes her unhappy.
“Well, boy?” Lucifer said as he stared at Saisho, his black gaze all-knowing.
“I—” Saisho stampered, why was it hard to say that he loved Daciana? He had said it a thousand times in the looking glass, but when he was in front of her, he just froze. “I—” Just say the damn words! His inner thoughts had shouted at him. Still he remained frozen, un-sure of what to say, he just didn’t have enough courage to tell her how he really felt and possibly he may never be able too.
“Boy, if you cannot say what you really feel then, maybe you shouldn’t be my niece’s guardian.” Lucifer said as he drank heavily from his goblet.
“I care for your niece, sir.” Saisho said, his lavender gaze setting on Lucifer’s face before he looked over at Daciana, “I care for her very much.”
“There you go, boy.” Lucifer said, “Maybe one day you’ll admit you might even love her.”
You have no idea. Saisho thought as he stared at Daciana, her red gaze looking between him and her uncle, she had a smile tugging her lips, though her eyes told everyone she was uncertain of the conversation that had been taken place.
“Well it’s time to eat!” Lucifer said as he began eating. Daciana nodded as she picked at her food, and never met Saisho’s gaze, he eat his food slowly, making the meal last, hoping it would. Daciana began eating, her eyes were dulling, and she needed comfort and something more. “My dear, are you alright?” her uncle spoke when he noticed her eyes were dulling.
She needs blood, Lucifer. Veronica appeared beside him, she sat on the table, her chest puffed up and her head tilted slightly, she looked more or less like one of the serving wenches that Lucifer kept around his bedroom. I think it’s time to send your attack dog to feed from the humans above.
“Oh! Vero!” Lucifer said as he smiled brightly at the woman. “I haven’t seen you in so long!”
Since, Daciana had locked me away. Veronica corrected with a wan smile. Sir, your niece needs blood, she hadn’t been feeding, or did someone neglect to tell her. Her gaze never left Lucifer’s.
“I might have neglected to mention something or other about that little detail.” Lucifer said as he stared at Veronica.
“What are you two talking about?” Daciana asked as she stared between Veronica and Lucifer.
“My dear, you need blood to survive.” Lucifer said, “Just as you need food and water.”
You can go on about a few years, before the full effect makes its appearance, Veronica said as she moved off the table and towards her. It’s best if we go to the human realm and feed.
“Do I really have too?” Daciana asked as she stared at her uncle.
“Do you want to continue being sane?” Lucifer said and Daciana nodded.
Then you really have too. Veronica said softly with a soft smile. Don’t worry; I’ll be there with you.
“As will I.” Saisho said.
“Okay,” Daciana agreed and bowed her head.

Dawn approached fast, as Saisho and Daciana hid in the forest surrounding a village, far in the middle west, it’d started snowing, their breath’s hung in the air as they watched a few villagers leave their homes, to go to work, Daciana tightened her cloak around her, she wore a very revealing outfit under neath. She shivered as the snow continued to fall around her bare ankles, Saisho wore a thick wool tunic and thick wool trousers as well as his woolen cloak that kept him warm enough, it was still dark enough to be safe that no one will notice them nor notice what they were going to do.
“It’s now or never, Daci.” Saisho said as he looked at her, Daciana’s red gaze swung towards him, she was nervous, she hadn’t done it before, the wine they had given her back at the Guardian home was usually spiked with blood, just for her, but now, she was going to fill her stomach with fresh blood from humans. Daciana nodded and she moved, rustling bushes and a young male noticed her, he was maybe a good foot and a half taller than Daciana, and two or three years older than her, his brown eyes widen as he saw her.
“Oi, lass, are you alright?” The male said as Daciana tripped and face-planted on the snow, she pushed her self-up and smiled lightly,
“I-I think so,” She stampered, her teeth chattered from the cold.
“Lass, you’re freezing, come with me,” The male said as he helped her up, he took of his woolen cloak and wrapped it around her, “Sweet lord, lass, you’re an icicle.”
“I’ve been walking for a fortnight, sir.” Daciana said softly, her eyes appeared brown as she stared at him.
“Come, come.” He said as he led her back home, they entered a warm, fire lit cottage, “Ma! I’m back!”
“Boy, you just left!” A woman shouted, before an elderly woman appeared form the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron. “Boy, who’s this?”
“This is, uh,” He said though drew a blank, knew he’d never asked for her name.
“My name is Delilah,” Daciana lied as she stared at them, she cast her gaze down, the woman walked up to her and laid her hand on Daciana’s cheek and gasped.
“My good god, girl, you are freezing cold.” The woman said and tisked. “Come, come, Mama will take care of ya.” The woman led her to the hearth and placed her there to get warm. “Boy, go and bring me warm ale!”
“Yes’em.” The male said as he went into the kitchen, the woman fussed about Daciana, bringing her warm blankets, making sure she was warm.
“How long have ye been out in the snow, Delilah?” The woman asked just as the man brought over the warm ale her mother had requested and handed it to Daciana, who took it and smiled kindly.
“A fortnight, ma’am.” Daciana said with a soft smile.
“My good grace who art thou in heaven! Delilah, how on the heavenly earth, did you survive a fortnight out in this snow?”
“I almost didn’t.” Daciana said softly as she snuggled into the woolen blankets and drank her warm ale, “My companion had died.”
“Poor dear.” The woman said as her son hovered around. “I’m going to the neighbors to see if they can get a runner to take her back home, you stay here and make sure she’s warm enough, got it? And don’t fool around with her, boy, or I swear to our lord, I will boot you out into the snow.”
“Yes, ma’am.” The man said and the older woman grabbed her woolen cloak and left.
The man glanced at Daciana with a wan smile, she rose from the ground, dropping the woolen blankets, and her brown eyes a flamed. “I’ve been so lonely, since my companion died,” Daciana said, her eyes fluttering seductively, The man gulped as he stared at her, Daciana dropped his woolen cloak and untied hers, letting them drop to the ground, she was wearing a piece of cloth to cover her breasts and a short hunting skirt. She also wore her buckskin slippers. “Come to me,” She said softly and the man walked slowly towards her, his gaze paling slightly. Daciana drapped her arms around his neck, smiling, and her eyes suddenly changed to red and her fangs grew large.
“W-what are you—?”
Daciana sank her fangs into his throat cutting his sentence short, blood spewed into her mouth, the warm, coppery taste of his blood went down her throat and trickled down her lips. The male let out a struggled moan, she continued drinking. That’s it Daciana drink! Drink more! Drain him of blood! Daciana kept drinking, her eyes glowing red as she clutched the male tightly. Atta girl, kill him.
“Daciana,” Saisho’s voice drifted threw the fog of her blood-crazed-frenzy. “Stop now,” Daciana didn’t listen and drain the man dry from his blood. She let the lifeless body drop to the ground, her gaze red wild with animalistic frenzy.
Good job, Daciana, now, the old woman, she’ll be back soon, attack her too. Veronica said and Daciana turned just as the door opened, there stood the old woman, her gaze swung from Daciana’s blooded mouth to her son, who lay dead on the floor. Daciana, she’s going to scream, kill her!
The first notes of a shrike escaped the woman’s mouth before Daciana moved quickly and snapped her neck, the woman died quickly, Daciana sank her fangs into the woman’s neck and started to drain her from her blood. “Daciana,” Saisho said as he quickly went to her and grabbed her cloak, “Now, come,” Daciana growled lowly, her gaze still wild. “Now, Daciana,”
I don’t think so. Veronica’s voice escaped Daciana’s mouth. You see, I don’t do orders, and I am not going to start.
“Daciana,” Saisho growled lowly. “We are going now.” He refused to acknowledge Veronica. “Other’s will come and kill us, now move.” Daciana blinked as she snorted and strode out the door with Saisho behind him.
“Hey!” A male shouted, they turned and saw a mob of men, coming at them with pitchforks and torches.
“The woods, hurry! Go!” Saisho said and shoved Daciana towards the woods, she then took off running, Saisho ran after her.
They lay between a hallow log and the snow covered bank, panting heavily. “Daciana, are you okay?” he turned to see her, she had her eyes closed as she panted for breath, the taste of blood still on her tongue, tears suddenly sprang to her eyes, she felt guilty about killing the old woman and the young man. Saisho pulled her into his arms and held her while she cried. “Shh, love, it’ll be alright,” Saisho soothed, she clutched his tunic tightly as she continued to sob. He held her tightly, as he tried to sooth her. “Baby, it’ll be alright,”
“No it won’t, I killed them, Sai. I. Killed. Them!” Daciana sobbed, her heart braking, she didn’t like the killing, she hated it to say the truth, but the blood, she loved the blood. “What’s wrong with me?” she asked, as she stopped sobbing, “I want more blood, but I don’t want to kill for it.”
“There’s nothing wrong with you, Daci.” Saisho said. “You are perfect just they way you are.”
“Yeah, a perfect monster.” Daciana said, “Saisho Hubyoku, why are you here?”
Startled he stared at her, not sure of what to say. “I’m here protecting you.”
“No, that’s not what I meant.” Daciana sighed. “Why are you here with me, why couldn’t you send someone else to protect me instead? Why did it have to be you?” She asked him again, her gaze never leaving the white snow.
“Because, I wanted to make sure that you would be taken care of,” Saisho said as he watched her, “I just—”
“Do you love me?” She asked and glanced at him, tears still burning her eyes. “Do you love me?”
“I—”
“Daciana is time to come back home.” Lucifer’s voice sounded around them, they rose and went deeper into the woods and back to the dark abyss of hell.
Daciana stood in line with the rest of the Attack Dogs their gaze locked with the black and red walls of the courtyard, their hands locked behind them and their feet apart. A solder walked in front of them talking, Daciana knew better than to move. “Attack dogs, attend hut!” a solder said and they stood straight and turned their heads to the right, Daciana saw her uncle, she broke formation and bolted towards her uncle, and jumped up and hugged him tightly, it’d been a few months, and she’d recently turned seventeen, Saisho was training more warriors and Attack Dogs how to fight, Lucifer laughed as he hugged her back, the others stayed in formation knowing that she was going to get whipped.
“Hello, Daciana,” Lucifer said as he placed her down, she’d grown a few inches since the last time he saw her, she smiled brightly.
“Uncle, why are you here?” She asked him, her bright red eyes glowing with pride.
“I came to see you, along with the others.” Lucifer said with a half smile, “It’s time to send you guys up to the human realm and kill a few people,”
“Oh,” Daciana said softly as she frowned.
“Has Veronica been training with you?” Lucifer asked and Daciana nodded. “Use her, she’s your demonic side, so she’ll be good, that’s why I made sure you trained as an attack dog, Daciana.”
“Yes, sir.” Daciana saluted him.
“Now, off with ya’ll.” Lucifer said and he retreated.

Daciana, along with five other Attack dogs, she was their leader, she wore a dark woolen cloak, a concealed blade at her side, she also wore a cloth over her breasts and a short hunting skirt, her hair was pulled back into a low ponytail, they had stumbled across a warlord and his men, Daciana could smell their blood and it was driving her mad, she sighed and let Veronica come threw, the sudden hunger increase just as Veronica came threw.
“Okay, men, lets move.” Veronica said and they moved on, they showed their fangs as they smiled. Veronica was the first to attack, she tackled down the warlord, she held him in a vice grip, her mouth close to his ear. “Do you wish to die?” the others ran after the warlord’s men, laughing maniacally, “You probably don’t, but you see, my body needs blood and I don’t suppose you’re going to be willing to feed me.” Veronica licked his ear slowly and felt him shiver, “That’s a good boy,” Veronica leaned down and sank her fangs into his neck, his blood exploded into her mouth, her red eyes sparked black and she began to drink. All around her, the other attack dogs attacked the people. You should stop. Daciana’s voice wavered in her mind, Veronica ignored it, I’m serious, Vero, stop, you’re going to kill him. Daciana growled. Veronica rolled her eyes as she continued drinking. She slid her fangs out as one of the male attack dogs came up to her.
“Ma’am, they’re coming, warriors from the west, this was a trap.” He said and Veronica growled angrily as she snapped the warlord’s neck and threw him away.
“Get everyone and go back to the woods.” Veronica ordered. “I’ll take care of them.”
“Yes, ma’am.” He said and ran off gathering all of the four other attack dogs and running off towards the woods, Veronica sat on a log, she was drenched in blood, she closed her eyes and Daciana slithered back to the body, she sighed and shook her head. Suddenly warriors appeared on foot and horses, they spotted her.
“Hello,” Daciana said softly as she stared at them innocently, they didn’t respond, but only stared at her.
“Did you kill all of those men?” One spoke up and Daciana glanced around, her red eyes brightly glowing.
“Yes.” She responded as she glanced back at them, “Yes, I did,”
“What is your name, woman.” He snapped at her, his blue eyes piercing and angry.
“Daciana Shadow, from the Shadow Wolves.” Daciana said smirking, showing off her newly developed fangs, “And sir, I am your worst nightmare.” She leapt up claws and fangs flashing, the men gasped in surprise as she jumped from horse to horse, slaughtering them. She lay in a pool of blood, her red eyes sparking wildly. A few twigs snapped and Daciana turned her head to see, lavender eyes staring right at her, somehow she knew it wasn’t Saisho, something about him made her very uncomfortable. Suddenly two large dragon wings spread from behind him as he walked towards, her eyes wide with terror.
“My, my.” He said, “Are you the woman named Daciana?”
“Yes,” Daciana responded as she slowly got up from the pool of blood, her face and her whole body was covered in blood, “Who are you?”
“Sadisho, Saisho’s twin brother,” Sadisho said softly and bowed his head, his large wings glowing brightly in the mid day sun.
“Right,” Daciana said slowly as she eyed him, “Why are you here?”
“I’m just here to see you.” Sadisho said as he moved closer to him.
“Back away, thing.” Daciana snarled as she stared at him.
“Thing? Why in the heaven’s gate are you calling me a thing?” Sadisho said, his lavender eyes sparking with hatred.
“Because, that’s what you really are! A Karetsyu!” A mix blood, Daciana spat, her red eyes narrowing with hate.
“Tisk, such a foul language from such a young girl,” Sadisho said as he towered over her, his lavender eyes changing to green, “You see, Daciana, I’m Saisho’s older twin and since I can remember, we’ve been fighting with just about everything, and if he want you then I want you.”
“You leave me be,” Daciana hissed as she stared at him.
“Or what?” Sadisho taunted.
“Or, I’ll—”
“You’ll do nothing, isn’t that right, Daciana?”
“No, I will do something, wait and see!”
A short laugh before he grabbed the back of her neck and pressed his face inches from hers.
“No you won’t, you don’t have to heart to.” He sneered before long he pressed his lips to hers and Daciana struggled against him.
Saisho! Her mind screamed. Saisho! Her mind roared. Saiiishooo! She closed her eyes shut tightly. She felt the sudden coldness, when she opened her eyes there stood a young male, yellow-green eyes glittering with hate, she noticed that Sadisho was lying on the floor coughing up blood, the young male spread his dragon wings and opened his mouth, his face contorted with rage, his teeth jagged like fangs.
“Kaykéy shuno taiyo.” The girl doesn’t like. The young male said, to her surprise, he was speaking her language. “Kaykéy shuno taiyo!” The girl doesn’t like!
“Quina toishti.” Who are you? Daciana asked as she stared at the young male, startled the male looked at her.
“Owha toyina Eriezekiel.” My name is Eriezekiel. The young man said.
“Koishine teyou, Erie” I’m nicknaming you, Erie. Daciana said with a light smile.
“Okumateyo.” Uh, sure, Erie said before he smiled. “Eto quina toishti?” and who are you?
“Toimakoi,” please forgive me. Daciana said and she bowed her head. “Iloto, Princess Daciana Shadow.” I’m princess Daciana Shadow.
“Toikanata, loishi keyinoi?” You’re the god’s eldest daughter? Erie said startled and Daciana nodded and looked over at Sadisho.
“Neika ishi netonami!” Stay the hell away! She shouted at him, Erie growled as he transformed into a large, eleven story dragon,
“Oikoyshi, Daciana!” Climb up, Daciana! Erie growled at her and Daciana climb onto his back and they took off.
“Daciana! I will find you!” Sadisho threatened. “And when I do, you won’t live much longer!”
Erie landed in front of her uncle’s castle, her team of attack dogs, stood just away from the castle, they gathered around her and the dragon. “Daciana, are you sure you want to keep the lizard around with you?” one said as they narrowed their gaze at the dragon.
“He saved me,” Daciana responded and frowned, “Yes, I am going to keep him, mind you.”
“I don’t think your uncle will allow you to keep him,” another said and Daciana sighed, slightly annoyed with them,
“I don’t give a damn if he does or not, I am going to keep him,” Daciana said harshly, her red gaze bright with anger. “And please refrain from asking if I will keep him or not.”
“Daciana,” another sighed and shook their head, “I should strongly advise against you keeping him, it will not be a wise idea.”
“And you should refrain from advising anyone who had not asked for it.” Daciana spat at him angrily, her gaze leveling with his. “Now, if you all are quite done patronizing me and my dragon, we are going to go and eat.” As both Daciana and Erie walked down the corridor of her uncle’s castle in the underworld. Erie stared at her as they rounded a corner and headed for the dinning room, he hadn’t met either of Bartholomew’s children but he had to admit that Daciana was pretty, her red eyes glowed intensely as she stared straight ahead. He feared and respected the young lass, even though he hadn’t seen her fight, he still admired they way she moved. “Why are you staring at me,” her voice caught him off guard and he stumbled slightly, he knew English though he never spoke it, he understood what was said.
“Kaiyocu neishko.” I don’t know what you are talking about. Erie said primly as he looked away from her, though glanced back at her and stared.
“Well stop staring at me, its making me uncomfortable,” Daciana sighed as she looked at him, she flashed him a perky smile, “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’d fallen in love with me.”
“Me?” Erie blinked startled his cheeks burned, as he glanced away, “O-of c-course not.” His English was accented deeply, though it didn’t stop him from talking. “I do not fall for silly wolven women.” He snorted and refused to look at her.
“Sure you don’t,” Daciana winked at him as she skipped on a head, entering first, “Uncle!” she chimed as she saw a tall muscular man standing just inside the dinning room, she lunched herself into his arms and hugged him tightly, Erie stood stock still in front of the doors, with his hands locked behind his back and his face turning into a mask, of stillness.
“Hello, Daciana,” Lucifer said as he held onto her, he glanced over at Erie and a frown set over his handsome face. “And who might this be?”
“This is my dragon, Dar.” Daciana teased.
“My name is Eriezekiel, sir, not Dar as your niece so easily proclaimed.” Erie said as his gaze locked with the walls.
“Hm,” Lucifer said as he eyed the poor dragon. “Huh, interesting, boy, where do you resign?”
“The northern border,” Erie said, his gaze never wavering from the wall.
“You’ve encountered royalty, have you not?” Lucifer mused as he watched the dragon carefully, Daciana’s gaze flickered on the dragon and her uncle as she watched them talk, unaware of the tension filling the room.
“Uncle, I do think it’s time for dinner,” Daciana said as she smiled softly.
“Oh, yes, I do think it is.” Lucifer said as he laughed and clapped the dragon’s back. “Will you join us for dinner?”
“Y-yes, I suppose I will.” Erie said softly and scratched his cheek. “Don’t you suppose you have a bathroom?”
“We have an extra guest chamber.” Daciana suddenly said with a smile, “We’d love it if you’d stay with us.” Erie nodded as he his gaze softened as he stared at Daciana.
“Of course, my lady,” Erie said softly and bowed, before leaving them, with a serving wench, who led him to the guest chambers.
"I don't want him here!" Lucifer roared.
"Uncle," Daciana said calmly, though her eyes betrayed her.
"End of dicusion," Lucifer said. "Now, lets eat."
"Fine." Daciana said as she sat down and stared at her food, mostly waiting for Erie to come back, after that, she didn't talk to her uncle.
Daciana grunted as she was shoved to the ground again, and again. "Get up, you mutt." A drill sargent shouted at her as she shoved herself off the ground, her red eyes sparking with black as she stare straight on a head. "You are a worthless maggot." The drill sargent snarled dangerously at her. Though Daciana refused to speak, her eyes locked with the emptiness in front of her. As the drill sargent paced back and forth in front of Daciana, he noticed the deadly look that had over come the young girl's eyes, he knew at some point she will snap and become the dangerous Attack Dog, Lord Lucifer had wanted. "Daciana." The drill sargent spoke softly as he shoved his face right in to hers, he was about two or three inches taller. His angry gaze suddenly softened as he stared at the young woman before him, he sighed and pulled back shaking his head and looking away. “Neriu, Ryku and Xil, train with Daciana.” The Sargent called over his shoulder and walked away. Three young Attack Dogs walked up to Daciana, who still hadn't moved since the Sargent had gone. Neriu, a female wolf Attack Dog stood before Daciana, Neriu's blue gaze harden as she stared at her.
“Why don't you say something?” Neriu snapped finally as she placed her hands at her hips glaring at Daciana.
“Neriu, calm down,” Ryku said softly as he stared darkly at the girl, named Neriu. “She's a highly trained Attack Dog, there's really nothing you can do about that.”
“I'm so sick of Attack Dogs who are highly trained thinking that their so high and mighty!” Neriu flustered as she stared darkly at Daciana.
“I-I'm sorry.” Daciana finally said, her lashes lowering as tears sprang at her eyes. “I don't try to be high and mighty, honest.”
“Eh?” Neriu had now realized that Daciana was crying, she flailed and bit her lip trying to calm her down. “Daciana, it's alright, I don't suspect that you will be the same, rather, I think you are just like us, isn't that right, Ryku?”
“Daciana Shadow, you are one of us, we aren't like the rest, you see, we still have our emotions.” Ryku said softly as he embraced her, everything about him was intense. His warm breath, tickled her ear as he pressed her closer to his body. Daciana smiled softly and pulled away from Ryku.
“Thank you.” Daciana said softly and bowed her head.
“Now then,” Xil spoke up, “We have to start our training.”
“I rather go hunting.” Daciana said truthfully.
“I think we can sneak away,” Neriu said as she smiled, Ryku and Xil didn't look to happy, though didn't object, all three of them glanced around before the ran towards the gates and jumped over them.
“You did what?!” Lucifer's voice boomed as he stared down at Daciana, she cowered in her chair not saying a word. “Daciana, please explain what you did.”
“I went for a walk, with other attack dogs.” Daciana said softly as she stared at the ground, never once looking up to see her uncle.
“You left the training grounds to goof off?!” Lucifer snapped at her again.
“I-I'm sorry, Uncle.” Daciana began to sob, Lucifer rose his his and brought it down, slapping her across the face, Daciana's eyes widen as she sat in the chair, shocked of being slapped by her uncle, though it hadn't hurt as much as being whipped but the fact that he was family, made it painful. Tears stung her eyes as she held her cheeks, though didn't make a sound.
“Do not apologize.” Lucifer said sternly, “Do not start crying.” He stared hard at her. “You are an Attack Dog, you have no emotions, you need no emotions, best to get rid of them now.” Lucifer snapped as he stared down at her, Daciana nodded once though didn't say another word. “Now, go.” Daciana stood and bowed before walking away, tears finally sliding down her cheeks as she walked down the hallway, Saisho caught up with her.
“Daci, are you alright?” Saisho asked as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and held her, Daciana turned and buried her face into his tunic and started to sob.
Daciana sat in the lowest part of the Underworld; her arms around a large three-headed dog named Cerberus. Her uncle Lucifer had gone out for a meeting, leaving the poor girl behind to tend to what humans now call Hell, it had been funny when a maiden walked in scared for her dead soul. Daciana yawned as she rested most of her body weight against the dog, which lay there panting and watching the surroundings, with one head, sleeping with the other and licking her cheek softly with the last one. “Cerberus, I don’t get uncle, he said he was going to be gone only five minutes, it’s been almost an hour.” The dog barked softly and licked her again. “Of course, your right, I suppose I should just wait.” Daciana sighed as she snuggled into the dog’s fur coat.
Daciana, please just calm down; you’re putting me on edge as well. Veronica’s voice wavered around her and Daciana sighed, she had learned how keep Veronica from emerging every time she felt anger. I love how you put me behind cage, baby. Veronica said sweetly as she giggled.
“Veronica, why are you such at ease?” Daciana asked softly but the sudden void made her tense.
“Oh, there you are, Daciana, ready to go to the human realm?” Lucifer’s voice startled her, Cerberus growled and barked as Daciana stood. “Stupid dogs, don’t want you to leave.”
“Uncle,” Daciana said.
“Fine, I don’t want you to leave.” Lucifer said as he rubbed the back of his neck. “The past year you’ve been here with me, you made me feel like, like a dad.”
“Uncle.” Daciana smiled kindly. “You were drunk half the time and the other half, you had women over, how did I staying here for the year, make you feel like a dad?”
“What? Your dad does it too.” Lucifer sniffed as he glanced away.
“Yeah, and?” Daciana questioned with a smile. “My dad doesn’t care what they do as long as everyone obeys him.”
“Daciana, Bartholomew loves you very much.” Lucifer said. “He adores you, you are his pride and joy, you and your twin sister.”
“I know.” Daciana said as she glanced away. “It’s just, I don’t want to forgive him.”
“Why the hell not?” Lucifer questioned.
“He should have raised me like a princess and not a slave, uncle.” Daciana said tears burning her eyes.
“You were very fragile when you were young Daci,” Lucifer said with a frown. “You wouldn’t have survived.” Daciana stared at him for a long moment and sighed.
“I suppose you are right,” Daciana finally admitted.
“But it's time for you to go back home, my dear.” Lucifer said with a smile.
“I am taking my dragon as well as Sai, understood.” Daciana giggled as she spoke.
“Understood, young Daciana.” Lucifer said as he glanced over at the doors, there stood Saisho and her dragon, waiting for her to go. “Now off with you, be sure to come back anytime you wish and visit me and your dogs.”
Daciana rose to her feet and stretched, as she smiled brightly at her uncle. “I will Uncle.” She bowed and ran towards Saisho and Eriezekiel. They pushed the doors open and Daciana smiled more as she looked up at Saisho, his eyes on her, with affection and kindness, mean while her dragon looked in different, lost in thought as he usually was. All three of them headed out back up towards her father's castle, in the Crystal Realm were her new life as a Guardian to her young sister, Alina. Though she suspected a storm was approaching she didn't really care as long as she was with everyone she cared for, Saisho wrapped his arms around her as they headed up, Daciana blushed and before they knew it, she sprinted on ahead, both Saisho and Eriezekiel ran after her. Lucifer watched them and sighed softly.
“You think she'll be alright?” Nioko, Daciana's wolf spirit spoke suddenly.
“She will be,” Lucifer responded. “But you will be her down fall for a moment.”
“That I will be,” Nioko said and with that he vanished, leaving Lucifer to his thoughts.
